It has become fashionable to publicly shame influencers, and people are seemingly calling them out at every opportunity. From distasteful antics at Chernobyl to swimming in pools of toxic chemical waste, these symptoms of a narcissistic rude people do seem to go out of their way to advertise their stupidity – it appears that there is little they won't do for a few likes on Instagram pictures.
Society has a way of reigning in bad influence, however, and the current trend of 'shaming' those influencers who go too far seems to be affecting. Bored Panda has collected a list of times when people decided that enough was enough, and set the limit as to how low the bar of an Instagram influencer's self-obsession can go.
What do you think? Are you influenced by what you see people doing in Instagram photos? When does taking risks to look 'cool' go too far? Scroll down to check out the list below and share your thoughts in the comments!

Woman Stomped All Over The Plants In This Conservatory For Instagram Shots Despite Staff Repeatedly Asking Her To Stop
This woman, in her quest to show off to maximum effect on her social media, stomped all over the plants in this Conservatory despite staff repeatedly asking her to stop.
According to Rainy_Day_May, who uploaded the pic on Reddit, "She was asked by multiple people to stop and ignored everyone. Security eventually came and escorted her and her photographer out of the building. Both were asked to not return."
She should have been removed from the premises and been banned. So disrespectful.
They should be sued for the damages. The cost of the plants and the person hours (to be politically correct) to repair plus any lost revenue. Any lawyers reading this?
Im a photographer, qualified and all. Instagrammers give us a bad name! F*!# me iv never wanted a photo that bad that iv pissed people off in the process...
Drag the cow off then present her with a bill and take her credit cards.
Instagram Model Compares Her Life To Rice Workers, Gets Called Out For Being Insensitive
Instagrammer Natalie Schlater has 12K followers and 652 posts under her belt, but this particular one caused a lot of heat online.
At first glance, this picture of Schlater in a bikini in front of a rice farm looks a lot like her other uploads. But it’s the caption that stands out. “Thinking about how different my life is from the man picking in the rice field every morning,” it read.
People immediately thought Natalie came across as a shallow, entitled person but the woman herself said it the whole thing was a big misunderstanding.
Perhaps if these influencers didn't feel the need to accompany these 'deep and meaningful' thoughts with pictures of their asses, people might not find them quite so ridiculous?
if you want to put picture or yourself in underwear fine, but Don't compare yourself to people who really working their a*s off instead of showing them
Well, if she's dressing inappropiately like that in public space, people in there (I guess it's Canggu, Bali-Indonesia) will consider her as mentally ill person. That's the thing, that makes her different from normal hard working farmer from the picture
People use "deep" thoughts to make photos of their behinds seem "inspirational"
She was thinking "oh, I thought I could swim in the rice fields", and when she arrived it was just a f*ck moment. But then, she had an idea, to take a pic as well...
Load More Replies...I don’t think such people are capable of shame (or even deep introspective thoughts). Vain, egotistical people truly believe they are the center of all that is and that any problems rest with others. What I cannot understand, is why people feel the desire/need to follow such people...I would say that is stems from a life without direction or satisfaction that leads one to try and vicariously live through another’s life. Not saying that it’s necessarily bad to follow an “influencer” , only that I do not understand it. Joseph Campbell said something to the effect that, when on one’s journey in life, if you see a path that’s already cleared, you’re on someone else’s path; do not take it, we all must make our own. To go down another’s path is to live an unauthentic life that pretty much leads to an empty unfulfilled existence
When You Come To Auschwitz Museum Remember You Are At The Site Where Over 1 Million People Were Killed. Respect Their Memory. There Are Better Places To Learn How To Walk On A Balance Beam Than The Site Which Symbolizes Deportation Of Hundreds Of Thousands To Their Deaths
People that choose to visit Auschwitz could go to pay their respects, learn about the true extent of human barbarism and come away deeply affected; using the knowledge and empathy gained from the experience to become a more caring person.
Or, they could disrespect and disregard the gravity of the site, learning nothing while looking for photo opportunities to impress their Instagram followers with.
The Auschwitz Museum urges people to do the former - using the site as a background for your selfies is disrespectful and unnecessary.
It doesn't compare to horror of Auschwitz, but I remember having that same feeling at pearl harbor. People taking silly photos, pretending to,shoot down planes etc. Meanwhile just below the, surface is the grave of over 1000 soldiers on the Arizona.
It doesn't matter whether it's 1 or 6,000,000 as far as I'm concerned: you wouldn't stand on someone's headstone, right?
Load More Replies...This has to be one place where you don't want "cute" pics of yourself, surely.
I agree that you shouldn't use pictures of yourself at places like these for clout, but here's an unpopular opinion: It's important to acknowledge and honor people who suffered and died at these places, but it shouldn't stop you from living happily. The people who died would certainly want to be acknowledged and respected, but not mourned in a way that prevents you from being happy.
Load More Replies...To the person who said the Auschwitz stuff is a joke (bc it won’t let me reply directly to them): you said that it was a trend to remember the horrors of Auschwitz. In my opinion it is definitely not. As a Jew I am offended that you said that remembering the massacre of my people (and many others) is a trend.
I've seen this sort of behavior at the 9/11 Memorial, as well. And I've seen adult tourists there look in dismay at those who come to the memorial and touch the engraved names of their loved one in the stelae, or who leave flowers there. It's crazy, like they don't know the actual purpose of the site, or what happened there. If you've over 30, there's no excuse to act like that.
At Dachau, I took a picture of the board explaining the different colors of triangles and their meanings. Every prisoner wore a patch of one or two triangles. The color of the patch and the position of the triangle indicated the "reason" for being in the camp. Jewish prisoners wore two yellow triangles, forming the star of David. There is absolutely no reason to take a selfie at such as site.
Only appropriate photos/ images to take in a place like this are ones that show the sheer scale, the darkness and sadness that's still in every square inch of the place. I do feel that in most places photography should be allowed- but the person behind the camera needs to have a level of respect that seems to be lacking in many on social media. They seem to be able to just ruin most things.
A million people died in here?! Oh goodie! Lemme take a selfie!
Doing Yoga On The Berlin Holocaust Memorial
Similar to Auschwitz, these somber memorial sites are there to remind us of the horrors of our past; they are places of learning, reflection and introspection.
Visiting these places and making them all about yourself is not only extremely narcissistic, but disrespectful to the memory of those who were affected by tragedy.
This woman was called out on the subreddit r/trashy for striking a yoga pose on a Holocaust memorial in Berlin, where comments were divided on the intention of the artist who created the memorial.
To me this is no different than climbing on someone's tombstone to do yoga. Completely disrespectful.
"Divided on the intention of the artist"? Eisenman's already stated that it was to create a space that makes you feel uneasy, with a changing ground plane and claustrophobic walls. If I also recall correctly from the last time I visited, you're not even supposed to climb up on top of the stelae.
I think it is insensitive but the creator has always said that he is okay with people running, laughing and climbing on the memorial.
They should prosecute people who denigrate memorials of remembrance thus.
That sounds like a violation of freedom of expression.
Load More Replies...The creators of this memorial SPECIFICALLY said that they want it to be used by people. They want people to play there and have fun. This picture is not disrespecting ANYTHING.
Instagram Influencers Called Out For Incredibly Dangerous Kiss
Kelly and Kody, also known as ‘positravelty’, are 'adventurers' who spend their time travelling (AKA looking for photo locations) to share their images on Instagram.
This photo was criticized by some of their followers, however. It depicts the pair kissing while Kelly hangs over the side of an infinity pool, with a steep drop beneath her.
Why? Because apparently it shows trust and Kody's manly, popeye-like strength. The problem with dangerous shots like this is that influencers tend to all follow each other, and a 'trend' shot like this one is sure to lead to an accident at some stage.
If she fell then they only have themselves to blame. I don’t sympathise with blatant purposeful stupidity.
There are actually people more stupid than this... those who would imitate them.
Load More Replies...Pretty sure there was a story about this and they actually came out and said there was another pool/body of water beneath her....
I wouldn’t put it past some people to do a picture like that without water below though.
Load More Replies...Drop her. Fall over yourself. Show others stupid s**t like this. I don't care. We have too many selfish idiots on the planet.
Like my therapist tells me every week, "Let it go, man; let it go..."
Oops, I didn't intend to almost kill her, it's just that I tend to think better with my biceps than with that mushy stuff in my head.
There are times one must just step back and let Darwin do his job. "Kelly and Kody Killed" is the perfect headline to end this level of whitetitlement. christ.
Instagram Influencers Called Out For Incredibly Dangerous Kiss On Moving Train
This is another example of influencers following each other. Someone first took a pic of themselves hanging off one of the 'blue trains' in Sri Lanka a few years back and now the trains are full of Westerners all hanging out trying to capture the very same shot.
Belgian couple Camille and Jean, known as ‘backpackdiariez’ on Instagram, just had to take the unoriginal idea a step further and up the risk factor. Their kiss over a bridge prompted people to question why, and urge others not to copy this dangerous pose.
What the Sri Lankans must think, with their trains suddenly full of camera wielding, seemingly suicidal Westerners trying to capture the same shot, is anyone's guess.
IMO, the most damage is done to the kids that watch ...This is bad influence.
Load More Replies...They say it's dangerous and irresponsible because those people that follow the influencer may try to copy the picture. My thought is..you have to be pretty stupid and lacking a lot of self esteem to let an influencer dictate how to live your life. My philosophy is if they die trying to imitate someone else...you've got no one but yourself to blame.
They unfortunately will influence younger kids/teens/young adults to make risky decisions just for the coolness factor. It's scientifically proven that the rational part of the brain (prefrontal cortex-the part of the brain adults think with) is not fully wired to the emotional part of the brain (the amygdala-the part of the brain that teens/young adults think with) until over the age of 25, hence higher risky behavior in this age group compared to when fully developed as an adult. This is why these influencers can create such havok by being irresponsible with their target audience and why social media is such a huge thing.
Load More Replies...Let them have it, if accidents happen and they die, we have 2 less stupid people in the world, now that's a change 👍
I say leave them to it, if they die doing this stupid stuff it's just natural selection.
considering it's photoshopped- the train was probably safely stopped at the station while they were having their friendly public hump (what? that's what it looks like....people should start a trend. it's called 'getting a room'. )

It's one thing making yourself look stupid with your complete lack of tact or self-awareness, but something else entirely when you damage the environment while doing so.
The Instagram account Our Public Lands Hate You is part of a trend of shaming irresponsible behavior on America’s public lands. The account's vigilant exposure of misbehaving influencers has so far lead to some of them losing deals with brands, as well as investigations from the National Park Service.
"I started this account about a year ago after a backcountry hike in Idaho where I noticed a ton of disrespect towards our public lands including people carving their names into trees, camping in off limits areas, having fires where they weren't allowed, leaving campfires burning unattended, shortcutting switchbacks, and other behavior that degrades our public lands, Steve, the man behind the account, told Bored Panda.
"After seeing the results of that disrespectful behavior, I decided to create an IG account to share the damage that I was seeing and vent my frustration in the hopes of bringing awareness to the issue and getting people to be more aware of the impact of their actions. The reason I choose IG as my platform was because I had noticed an increase in the number of "influencers" using our public lands as a backdrop to advertise products, services, and themselves, and much of the content these influencers were sharing featured illegal and/or environmentally harmful content."
"I believe that rather that influencing people toward good behavior, many influencers are only thinking about how they can create the most visually appealing content that will garner the most likes and make them the most money. Anything relating good stewardship of the land they are using to create their content appears to have become an afterthought for the vast majority of influencers. I also think that many influencers believe the rules don't apply to them for some reason."
"With over 58,000 followers, the goal of the account is twofold. First, we provide educational content using good and bad examples to SHOW people how to become between stewards of their public lands and provide visuals about what good behavior and harmful behavior looks like. Second, we reshare harmful and illegal content, primarily from large influencer accounts, that is publicly posted to social media so that that everyone can see what these influencers are promoting, and leave respectful, educational comments if they see fit. If influencers are not capable of holding themselves accountable for the respectful treatment of our public lands, then all of us, the people that own those public lands, have a right to voice our opinions and let these influencers know how we feel about their actions."
Please excuse my ignorance but why is laying in a poppy field on public land illegal? Either way I don’t approve of what they are doing.
Those poppies are protected species and on the decline. Their fat arses are crushing the flowers and damaging the roots below the ground. Those flowers will never grow again.
Load More Replies...For those who don't see a problem with laying down in the poppy fields, it really wouldn't be a problem if only a few people did it, but with the advent of social media we've unfortunately turned many wild places into "media stars" and a place that used to see dozens of visitors a day now sees thousands. If a few people pick flowers, walk on them, or lay on them, it's no big deal, if thousands do it, it can destroy the entire ecosystem of that area.
These are California poppies near a state park in California - they are the State Flower of California. They are illegal to pick, trample or molest in any way.
"The California the California poppy is the state flower to California. It is not a threatened or endangered plant but it is illegal to pick California poppies from the wild, however you can buy the seeds and plant them." Biogeography of the California Poppy online.sfsu.edu/bholzman/courses/Fall02%20projects/calpoppy.html
Dont worry too much - in my country is enough poppy flowers, here you can lay on public land where you want - nobody really cares. There are much much worse troubles which destroys our planet... Small things could help - e.g. Stop growing english lawn - just let nature to grow flowers without chemicals, fertilizers and irrigation - its much better for nature and free. I am sure everybody will agree that we have to save water - i dont know much pointless use of drinkink water - than to dump it on lawn- just because everybody does the same.
I can't believe this. Its gotta be hard to get past all the other people there, and for what? Let me guess, save the turtles kill the poppies?
But she’s an influencer, the rules and laws don’t apply to her. She entitled. I hope the park system prosecuted her.
You know what their next photo op will be lying down on top of Old Faithful. I’m as fed up Steve is, the people that are trying to prove how awesome they are have walked onto Old Faithful, picked up baby bison, that then had to be euthanized. Have walked on sands in places like Zion’s to take pictures, they destroy the ground under them. The problem is simple they have never been taught that “ stupid is as stupid does” quoting a favorite movie character. Grow up!!!
Instagrammer Called Out For Faking Her Trip To Paris
WIth its bevy of filters and editing tools, most Instagram photos are already far from the actual reality. For some influencers though, the fakery doesn't go far enough, and they resort to photoshopping to engineer an even more absurdly false version of their lives.
Swedish influencer Johanna Olsson got in hot water for trying to fool her followers during a trip to Paris, which, she assures everyone, did actually happen.
"I wanted to talk a little bit about the pictures I posted in Paris. So, I did one picture, shot it and didn’t think it looked that nice… so I took a different background and put the background into it," she explained in an Instagram story.
"And when I put it up nobody noticed so I thought, this is good. So I admit it wasn’t my finest Photoshop skills. Now in Sweden this thing has gone crazy and TV shows want me to come on and talk about my ‘fake travelling’."
"It’s a bit ridiculous I think. There are a lot of influencers out there that use Photoshop in birds, rainbows or crazy skies and I could do that but I don’t like that. I just wanted to make that clear that I was in Paris, but I did Photoshop the background, but I’m not going to take them down because it’s a collaboration and they’re nice pictures – it’s a good outfit!"
Omg, the legs in that first picture... priceless... XD
Load More Replies...So what you're telling me is if I go to Paris I can learn to levitate. Sign me up!
"Now in Sweden this thing has gone crazy and TV shows want me"..... Uhm, I'm Swedish and I have no idea who this fool is? 😕
I'd say keep it that way, I don't think you're missing out on anything.

On the back of the success of HBO’s Chernobyl, influencers have been flocking to Pripyat to pose for photos, giving little historical context about what actually occurred there but pulling plenty of the usual vapid, cliched poses that we’ve come to expect from these people.
oh well there's enough radiation left there to cause some damage if they overstay their welcome... Some people are just so vapid
Not much radiation needed to erase the few braincells she must have.
Load More Replies...I'm pretty sure that all that makeup layers should protect her from radiation.
There are guided tours available in Pripyat (wanted to go, but feel like I missed my chance to go without a hoarde of others now after that series). They advise you to stay on specific paths because those have had their radiation levels measured. We cannot tell from the pics alone if they adhered to those rules or not, and pripyat is actually trying to increase the number of tourists going there, so, apart from the "it's all about me" pose, they might have done nothing wrong.
do you really think these 'influencers' are intelligent enough to understand the reasons for the warnings?
Load More Replies...Don't go to Ukrain (just) for Chernobyl. Several areas of Kiev are photogenetic too, you can easily spend a couple of days there, and enjoy the old streets, the monuments, the heritage sites etcetera.
Personally, I’d go to the Kiev places, so much history, and skip the radiation!! I’ve had enough x-rays and CT scans to give me all the radiation I need.
Load More Replies...Aaahhh...go forth and get irradiated! What a faster way to remove stupid people on earth... good times
Well...on the bright side, maybe the residual radiation is high enough to sterilize them so they’re unable to pass on their idiot DNA (if only)
You didnt even include the best with a chick taking off of her hazmat suit to expose her asscheeks xD
Instagram "Influencer" Called Out By Her Own Dad For Claiming To Have Heterochromia
With so many influencers out there clamouring for attention, each claiming to be special, you have to go a long way to stand out.
This girl, influencer and model Sarah McDaniel, decided to claim that she had Heterochromia, a condition that creates a difference in the colors of the iris or skin.
McDaniel was called out by infamous exposer Celebface, who posted a childhood photo that showed McDaniel with matching brown irises.
“Expectation: A poor girl with different-colored eyes,” Celebface wrote. “Reality: An ordinary liar who had eye color surgery and tells everyone about her ‘real’ heterochromia now.”
McDaniel's estranged father apparently confirmed the lie, when commenting on one of her Instagram posts.
It's called narcissism. And for some reason an epidemic in the digital age.
Load More Replies...if you're going to b******t at least make the eye colour a more natural looking blue or green, not f*****g turquoise. And since when is the pupil also blue? lol
It completely undermines all the children who are actually being bullied because they look 'different'. I don't know who this woman is but shame on her.
So much trouble trying to be "different" and that's because a lot of undeserving people are getting famous just because they have a skin condition or something "not usual". Like the "model" with the skin condition vitiligo, who people knew from America's next top model, where she was just a bad contestant and a b1tc* tbh, aaah but now she "Winnie" is super famous just because "she's different". How about if we go back to making talented people famous and not this "social media influencers i'm making myself different to be famous". SMH!
This one is a bit more terrifying than her lying. So the influencer in question actually had surgery done to permanently change her eye color. Several people have done this procedure and it is illegal in most countries because it causes you to go blind. There have been a ton of people who have done this and it always results in damage with people experiencing significant vision loss or complete blindness.
We Want To Thank All Of The Brave Influencers Who Have Donated Completely Unrelated Thirst Traps To The Victims Of The California Wildfires
How do you express remorse and condolences after a terrible tragedy? Personally, if I don't have contact with those personally affected, I keep my thoughts to myself.
These people saw the opportunity not only to show the world how sincere and caring they, but also to crowbar in another photo of themselves and their athletic bodies - just to add to the gravity of the situation.
Because nothing screams solidarity in grief more than smiley, sexy photos of oneself, does it?
Mhmm, I am so sad, I take most of my clothes off and strike a pose, thats how sad I am !
By shedding their clothes, they probably feel like they've donated them to those affected. Come to think of it, if they are not raising a finger to help, they could at least ask their followers to help as much as they can.
Load More Replies..."Here's my beautiful body, it's the best way I can think of to help you because I'm a vapid twat"
As someone who has been through a devastating fire (Black Saturday in Vic, Australia. 180 ppl died, many homes were lost) I'd like to send a big F**k You to those "influencers". How about posting information on how to help, rather than a picture of your body? Perhaps you could use your "influence" to raise some funds for the people affected.
Unfortunately I think this behaviour is encouraged from a young age with Americas addition to beauty pageants for kids and then the popular people at high schools. When it is encouraged and thrives at the education level what do you expect?
I don't know why but this virtue signaling with half naked bodies and emojis pisses me off more than the monument stuff.
Every Girl Dreams Of Growing Up And Doing A Sponsored Post For Bang Energy Drink On Their Wedding Day
I guess this is a way to help pay for that expensive wedding... Not exactly a picture of romance but at least this doesn't harm anyone or anything beyond the bride's dignity, which surely took an absolute battering. I mean, a cheap and nasty energy drink? At least if you are going to sell out on your wedding day, you could choose a classier product.
Each to their own I guess?
She got money to pay for her wedding..... It's not your wedding so why do you care?
You're part of the problem, Gerry. By all means, keep supporting these imbeciles.
Load More Replies...To be fair, I know I would be drinking energy drink on my wedding day!!!
Marriage day is special once-in-a lifetime (or few-times-in-a-lifetime) event. Would you, being the star of the show, want to advertise products on such an occasion? Some may be amenable to this while others hate the very notion of it. To each their own.

I refuse to accept that "influencers" are even a thing. Like, I could just randomly decide to call myself "an important middle-aged lady" and tell everybody that's what I am. It doesn't make it true and it's not a job. Just because thousands of sheep look at your photos, doesn't mean any of them will spend money.
