I Give Insects The Defense Mechanisms They So Desperately Need To Survive The Modern World (14 Pics)
With titles such as 'Body Armour,' 'Self Defense' and 'Camouflage,' I give insects the defense mechanisms they so desperately need.
It is my intention to raise awareness about the population decline that insects are currently undergoing. They are so important to our ecosystems and their decline is something that puts all of us at risk.

A Cicada With Teeth
A lot of these are S**T YOU JUST POKED A BUNCH OF SSPIKES IN A BUNCH OF BUGS
That moment when you realize that this person is supporting the killing of these insects when they buy killed insects to make this piece that "supports them"
How do you know they were killed, with butterflies' short life for example, I think one could find them, the others I do not know !!!
Load More Replies...These all look BEAUTIFUL! How long did it take you to make one? I love your art style with these ^^
Thank you! It just depends because they are all so different. The crystallized ones take the longest.
Load More Replies...None of this armor protects against pesticides, does it? So where does the modern world protection come in?
Josh, mostly as if I appreciate good art, especially as I have no talent in art, other than my photography of anything in nature, I am an amateur not published but am very proud of some photos, also in other posts such as animals I comment often, love to give my two cents !!!
Load More Replies...You don't need an excuse to make things. Also insects will outlive humans by a fair bit, they are really resilient. Also your work is beautiful. :)
There is a great variety of art, nice to see something unique and so pretty !!!
beautiful artworks, controversial materials used for the making, and if bugs ever look like that I'd freak out!!!! They'd be deadly!!!
Eeh the defense they desperately need is to NOT BE KILLED BY YOU! Ya doink!
She doesn’t kill them. Every year they emerge and then all die after a day.
Load More Replies...Y’all do realize that cicadas literally all hatch at the same time and therefore die around the same time. Some of you complaining that the artist “killed or bought bugs that were killed”, I get your argument, but there’s also a good argument that these can be found dead by the hundreds when their life cycle ends. They bury themselves in larval form, and hibernate for years before all emerging by the thousands. It’s not a stretch to assume they die in the hundreds, thousands too.
Pins might stop birds from eating them, even though this is the natural order of things. Too bad they can do nothing about the decidedly UN-natural ACTUAL CAUSE of insect decline, like rampant insecticide use, waterways poisoned with mine runoff, glyphosate in all the flowers, military blowing up the earth on every continent, and the air full of toxic chemical gasses. Oh yes, and a huge wall on the north bank of an essential river. No amount of armor can save any of us from the ubiquitous waste produced by unbridled, unregulated, and essentially untaxed CORPORATIONS.
The only problem about this is that a lot of the time those materials are much heavier than the insect. This would probably just make the insect drop like a fly
So the écosystem is killing them.. They are artifiied but really not relevant to self defense... Really. They are on a decline because of global warming and people manfocaturing and their life span... Not because they are being haunted. This is beautiful but also confusing and I need more clarity on this project. Have u used the art to collect funds for a certain charity to create awareness or u just called it that because it's the hipster thing to do?
You are exactly correct. The main thing currently threatening insect populations is unsustainable farming practices and pesticide use. I am trying to raise awareness through my artwork about declining insect populations. They are so important in the food chain that we all need to understand the threat that losing them poses to all life.

Load More Replies...I think the armor is too heavy for them to be ablo to fly, or if the female is waring the armong, the male wont be able to mate with her
