We have seen all kinds of images here on the internet. From blessed to cursed, there seems to exist a genre for each picture that’s hard to pin down.
Today, we present you with a new category to define hardly definable pictures named “blursed.” As you may suspect, the term comes from blessed and cursed combined together, meaning blursed pics exhibit features of them both.
This corner of Reddit titled “Blursed Images,” which describes itself as “home of the most blursed images on the internet,” has popularized blursed pics. So the idea, according to the community rules, is simple: “if an image makes you happy, but then at the same time, frustrates or disgusts you, then it is likely blursed.”
Below we wrapped up the most interesting examples of blursed snaps for you to scroll through!

Truth! It would be different if this was, (somehow) a photograph/drawing trying to capture accuracy of the moment/still life --- but this artist knew exactly what they were doing. ^_^

Whose messing with the timeline this time? Do we have to send the Time Police out to deal with them?
Hahahahahahaha I love it when a Christian does not know that Jesus and his first followers were all Jewish!
Was that image in the original painting or was it added (photoshopped) more recently?
The Adoration of the Magi is a painting by Rogier van der Weyden that depicts the three wise men presenting gifts to the baby Jesus. The painting is believed to have been commissioned by the crossbowmen's guild in Louvain, Belgium, and was completed around 1440-1445¹. The painting features a crucifixion scene in the background, which is believed to be a reference to the idea that Christ's birth and death were linked². The inclusion of the crucifixion scene may also be a reference to the idea that Christ's birth was a prelude to his death and resurrection². I hope this helps. That's the whole point isn't it? That he is destined to die before he is born to remove the sins of the world? Which is also why he sometimes looks like an old man.
And none of these visitors said "hey, I got a spare room you could crash at that doesn't smell like cow sh*t."? Rude.
Damn, I’m not religious but even I know not to say that.

Interestingly, blursed images reflect the bigger tendency of the human mind to be compelled by challenging material. This material can range from merely uncomfortable and confusing to dark and upsetting. Psychoanalysts have been observing our inner fascination with dark material, from serial killers to violence to disasters, for years.
In Bored Panda’s previous in-depth interview with Helen Marlo, a licensed clinical psychologist and Jungian psychoanalyst who provides psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and consultation, we dug deeper into this compelling topic.
“Most of us are painfully aware that darkness, what some call evil, exists. We may satisfy some human, psychological needs when we engage with it through the news, movies, or documentaries,” Helen told us.
She explained that when watching another story, and in particular, these dark and traumatic stories, we witness another person’s narrative. “Narrating one’s own story, especially if we have a story that includes trauma, is emotional and hard. Watching another’s story can give us a sense of gaining understanding or relief for 'free,' because we are hearing about another’s story but not doing any of the hard, psychological work to create our own story.” The same goes for reading self-help books and images.

Moreover, Helen explained that “by watching another’s story, we may gain a sense of control, understanding, or vicarious mastery over our own aggressive fantasies and anxieties about evil, whether we imagine ourselves in the role of the perpetrator and/or victim.”
For example, watching the Jeffrey Dahmer story gives us at least one version of a real-life story of a serial killer. “We may feel as if we have a better understanding of senseless violence and the irrationalities of evil by becoming immersed in learning about one person’s story. His story is a mixture of elements—some common and some uncommon—which enables us to compare and contrast this story with our own life story and our own fears, wishes, and/or fantasies.”
Please, please, please for your life wear a seatbelt. In the last week alone we’ve had two very young (19-20 yrs) guys come into our ER who were ejected with severe head trauma. One is probably brain dead and the other was at least able to be an organ donor.
It doesn't mean, however, that blursed images offer exactly this type of experience. While being uncomfortable and sometimes upsetting, they also offer the opposite effect - which is interesting, cute, and relatable. These two opposite poles combined together provide the viewer with a unique viewing experience that challenges our perception of things being only good or bad, black or white.
