Fashion, with its primary function of personality expression, has shown us some pretty marvelous works of art in clothes design through the years. And though we’ve even seen dresses lowered into the Dead Sea, these gowns surprised the wardrobe out of us. French creator and fashion designer Sylvie Facon sew dresses from fabrics that she has created and with such attention to detail, they would steal any catwalk.
The designer gowns crafted by Facon ranges from very romantic lacework to high fashion dresses made from book spines, highlighting the incredible versatility of the dress designer skills. Craftsmanship without a fantasy couldn’t conceive such dreamy and one of a kind garments, but in Sylvie’s case, there’s no lack of creativity in her work.
Scroll down to check the designer dresses even Cinderella would envy and let us know what you think about them in the comments.

Share on FacebookHAUTE COUTURE!!! Can someone tell me why in the f**k beautiful things like this are not in fashion shows?!?! These are off the charts creative/design/function!! Well done!
I agree!! Compared to some of the bizarre, off the wall, unwearable c**p that I've seen in fashion shows, these dresses are stunning pieces of art!!
Load More Replies...They are so pretty.... but I think they would be uncomfortable to wear...
Nope, I can tell. Despite their unconventional appearance, it is still shaped and would feel no different than any other gown. BUT PRETTIER!
Load More Replies...The first one is definitely something Belle from Beauty and the Beast would wear. :o
My lovely wife would have loved these. In my mind's eye I can see her in the 2nd Floral Garden or the 3rd Old Town gown. She was petite with flowing blond hair. God I miss her so much.
My sympathies on the loss of your wife. I believe spirit is eternal, and we will be reunited with those we've loved upon our passing. May you find solace in remembering the love you shared, and may you know the comfort of her spiritual presence until your happy reunion *

You do realize that just the COVERS for the books were used for that one, right? When old leatherbound book covers get worn out, the covers are discarded, and new ones are put on. That is quite possibly where she got the book covers from.
Load More Replies...Oh my gosh! These are exquisite pieces of art that function as dresses. They actually brought tears to my eyes with their intricate beauty and practical function. The designer is a genius. Simply a brilliant genius that should be a household name. If I had a fancy do to go to, I would wear one of these gowns before Iβd ever pick a world-famous designer. These are far more creative and reflective of my personality than Gucci or Chanel ever could be.
These are fairytale, dream dresses! Amazing pieces of artwork that can be worn, I'm in awe!
OMG!!! I have seen these in my dreams and fantasies!!!! (could pic #3 technically be termed a "wardrobe malfunction"???) JK LOL
These are what theatre and costume design are all about...love, love, love them!
I honestly thought the title said "Bacon dresses" and was disappointed at first...but then that first one with the books made me think twice
Bacon is her name, and it's not pork.... lol, and not pronounced the same way, she is French you know

My husband and I are amazed at her attention to detail, innovative and creative mindset, let alone her sewing and design skills. I have to wonder if most all of the dress is actually paper and other items, or if part of it (the words, songs, etc.,) are printed on fabric as we do in quilting photos and words on fabric using freezer paper, etc. This would make the gowns more comfortable to touch and move through throngs of people, also so that they didn't have to worry about tearing the paper as they walked through crowds. Just wondering - my mind is racing with questions - would love to study under her!!!! Ms. Facon, you are a star among the galaxies!!!
Such creativeness and talent. They are beautiful. When I see some of the so-called fashions on the catwalk, it makes me wonder where peoples taste is other than their mouths. Keep up your fantastic work, Sylvie
FINALLY!! Something innovative in fashion that actually pays attention to the female form! These dresses are amazing and beautiful and feminine. This is what fashion magazines and the runways should be full of-----and, BTW, why don't we have this sort of thing available to us (in affordable versions) for streetwear too? Hello Paris, NY, London, Milan!!! This is what women want. Not your crazy things that look like buildings and spaceships.
If I could I would wear everyone of these dresses and share with my Mother and Sister to walk around Eureka Springs AR. every Week to attract attention and have a ball.
I am absolutely stunned by these gorgeous dresses! Just wow!!! SYLVIE FALCON. Remember her name.
I absolutely love them. The are the best dresses I have seen in a long time.
People are amazing.I admire the way they are willing to try and just let their imagination fly.no can hardly draw a straight line and they come up with these wonderful images. You are amazing.
Would love to wear one to my daughters wedding! They are georgeous!
Finally, a designer with real imagination and the skills to make dreams come true! Years ago I had a yen to create fanciful gowns and clothing, some along these lines, but also very different. My dreams were dashed by a combination of lack of skills (I had yet to learn to sew), and lack of encouragement and support (for any of my creative notions π). Now, 50 years later I am thrilled to see such wonderful dreams and imagination fulfilled and rewarded rather than suppressed in favor of"practical" endeavors. Thanks from another Sylvie! β€οΈ
These dresses are stunningly gorgeous! If I had one Iβd wear it for special occasions. You couldnβt just leave it in your closet. I think wearing them would make you feel special like a princess. We all need to do something special for ourselves once in awhile. The lady who designed these creations is incredibly imaginative and creative, an artist with an eye for ultimate whimsy and fantasy and beauty. π
I love these dresses! So beautiful and very evocative of romance. They make one imagine and dream all sorts of delicious possibilities.
Absolutely amazing dresses π€© so so beautiful what creativity π I would love one π
I produce Fashion Week events in New York and Atlantic City and would love to have a collection like this on my runway!! www.AtlanticCityFashionWeek.com Simply Brilliant!!!!
These dresses are pure art! I, of course, love the book one the most.
Using the spine of a book might destroy one of the last copies of that book.
SHE HAS DESIGNED SOME OF THE WORLDS MOST BEAUTIFUL GOWNS! THE PRICES FOR ONE MUST BE SKY HIGH!!! WHOM EVER IS LUCKY ENOUGH TO WEAR ONE WOULD CERTAINLY BE THE RAVE OF ANY AFFAIR!!!!
Every outfit in all these photos has got a WOW factor. I think they look splendid. My favourite is the one with the violin on. They look so fabulously Gothic.
When I see things like this I really feel blessed to have the chance to see this. So unique, so different, so much talent and originality.
Absolutely amazing Creations..there's nothing more to really say apart from This designer was born to do what she does!!!! Sometimes people are beyond Talented & as we can see Sylvie is One of those exceptional people.
Yours are the most amazing fashion creations I have ever seen. They are stunningly imaginative and unbelievably unique. Amazingly gorgeous. Breathtaking.
Ha, and I felt chuffed with myself when I sewed up a little shirt for my Furby...
Nice gowns, cannot get pat the hideous lack of creative direction on the shoot, very cheap and cheesy production
These are some of the most stunning gowns I've seen from any designer anywhere ... why is this artist not represented on every red carpet any-and-everywhere?! Not only lovely to look at - but intriguing and provocative and sexy and skillfully created. Wow.
Not dress.............................Costume. Beautiful and completely impractical.
Gowns are fun, but hideous cheap photography and creative direction
What a shame to see what look like some genuinely old and handsome books vandalized this way.
