I Create Striking, Highly Realistic Miniature Cats And Dogs Out Of Felted Wool

I’m a New Zealand based fibre artist with a PhD in Education for Sustainability and a Masters Degree in animal behaviour. I have a passion for creating highly realistic miniature cats, dogs and more based on photos of people’s beloved pets using the specialist technique of needle felting. I use my biology training to inform my creations so that they are more than just a replica, they each have their own special spark of character and personality.

Needle felting involves jabbing wool ‘roving’ (over a wire frame) many times with single barbed felting needles to create a solid form which can be sculpted to look just like the real animal. Most of my miniatures are no higher than 18cm high. The needle felting technique is extremely time consuming and most works take over 17 hours to make. I have works in homes all over the world, including Germany, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK and Hong Kong. For more images of my work, visit my Facebook Page @FeltedPaws by Tatiana, or on Instagram FeltedPaws_By_Tatiana.

Yes they are no more than 17cm high. It's not taxidermy, they are made of needle felted wool.
