26 Cute Comics About Daily Life With 4 Cats And A Boyfriend, By Rebecca Rose Comics (New Pics)
Interview With ArtistSometimes, muses can live right next to you, and if you are willing to notice them, they will inspire you on a daily basis.
Rebecca Rose is an illustrator whose comics are mainly inspired by her boyfriend Matt and 4 cats - Butter, Ted, Nemo, and Lil D. "Rebecca Rose comics" are lighthearted, cover topics of life and love, and are full of funny encapsulated moments.
“I hope I can make people laugh! When I was a kid I’d tell jokes to get out of trouble and to make friends. Even if someone seemed way different than me, if I could make them laugh, then I knew we could relate. I used to think I was really funny, but now that I make comics to share with the world, I don’t even know what funny means anymore. It’s like when you say a word so many times that it starts to sound like it’s not a word at all, if that makes sense. I hope people think I’m funny because I try hard at it!” shared Rebecca on humor in a previous interview.

Bored Panda once again reached out to Rebecca to catch up with the artist. She shared how her comics have evolved since the last post and what else she has been up to: “I think many of my most recent comics have focused on cats and their world vs ours. My cats do some silly things, and I like to imagine what they’d be thinking if they were taking themselves seriously (because they always seem to take themselves seriously). My favorite comics to make are about cats with jobs! I am very much inspired by Bill Watterson’s “Calvin & Hobbes,” especially the fantasy vs reality strips–they’re so creative and earnest. Lately, however, I’ve taken a step back from making comics to work on my small business, Kolorspun.com, where I design enamel pins and patches (some even based on my comics). I plan on jumping back into comics soon enough, though!”
We also asked Rebecca to share the biggest challenges that she faces when making comics. Rebecca wrote: “One of my biggest challenges is figuring out how to present my ideas so that the viewer will understand what I’m trying to say. I like to add lots of details to my comics that don’t necessarily add to the joke, and if they’re not done properly, they can easily distract from the actual point of the comic. In the end, art is in the eye of the beholder and no matter how hard I work on a comic, there will always be people who don’t get it, but that’s okay!”
Over time, Rebecca has shared 270 comics, and we were curious which one is her favorite so far.
“Hmmm, well, my comics are like my pets, I shouldn’t pick a favorite! …But if I had to it would be 'Pawp Punk.' I spent FOREVER on that one and am so happy with how it came out. Plus the song I made up for it is pretty rad if I do say so myself (at least the way my boyfriend sings it),” shared Rebecca.
I guess it’s not that often that people have 4 cats. So we asked Rebecca to share how she became a mom to all of these furballs.
“Haha, this is a question I have to answer all the time. People think having four cats is bonkers (and we did too before we acquired four cats), but really they’re pretty chill, keep to themselves, and absolutely LOVE each other (except for the two sisters who have some sort of family feud for power going on). But basically, we moved to an area with a big stray cat problem and one queen lady cat pretty much OWNED the porch of the house we moved into. After she had two litters, we were finally able to trap and spay her (we trapped and fixed as many cats as we could in our neighborhood once we realized we could just take them to the shelter to be fixed). We initially took in just one of the kittens from a litter of hers, or rather she took us in. A couple of others were adopted out, and we took the remaining 3 kittens to the shelter to find homes. The shelter called us and stated these three were 'unadoptable,' so we took them in. They are the cutest, sweetest, most adoptable kitties ever! And littermates truly have a special bond, it’s so nice to be around such loving animals,” explained Rebecca.
And lastly, Rebecca added: “Stay hydrated and visit your local animal shelters! I really appreciate your support and I was blown away by the comments on Bored Panda’s last story about me, your readers are absolutely lovely and hilarious. Thank you!”
Ahhh bedtime. When you finally remember that thing you were supposed to do but you're already screwed..
This cartoonist missed the perfect opportunity to make the 4th cell with the cat answering "purrrfect" I feel let down
These were great, so many had just as much going on in the background... it was like two comics in one! 🥰
