I get the point you are making - pick the right person, not the person who fits a quota. However, let's be real here. There are enough men and women in the country. The skills, knowledge and virtue should exist within sufficient men and women to be able to get enough from either group. Yes, there are enough people in this country, but try not being sexist for a while : men and women are not two teams competing against each other, not every woman takes pride in every other woman's successes and achievements. People are individuals, and all people are supposed to be treated equally regardless of their race, sex, etc... So if I ever apply for a job in a company and they give the job to a woman who INDIVIDUALLY happens to deserve it less than I do just because they need to fith a quota, is will be sexist discrimination and I will sue them. Quotas literally mean that people are denied rights because they have the "wrong" sex and it should infuriate all of you racist and sexist bastards.

I'm not being sexist, realistic. I agree the world should be perfect & people picked on best for the job alone. Unfortunately, people are sometimes picked/excluded for the wrong reasons. If you ever apply for a job in a company & it goes to a woman how are you going to know on what factors they made their decision? Employers don't share people's skills and qualifications with all the other applicants. Data Protection for a start. One person may have more qualifications, less experience but the company will pay for them to study/train. Another may have all the experience but not the same qualifications yet the employer is more interested in experience. The choice made is not always that black & white.

On one hand, I know you are just a troll and nobody is supposed to take you seriously because you just say stupid insulting s**t as your only hobbie, but on the other hand I make being right a point of honor, so I will do to you as I always do to everyone else : I will explain you why you are wrong. First : not being sexist is not a proof of stupidity. One can support gender equality and still be an intelligent, sensible, educated person, just like me for example. Second : BoredPanda users don't have magical powers. Being hated by them does not change a thing. In the very act of saying you are going to only do half of the council as men, you are saying that there are very qualified men that are going to be turned down because they would exceed quota. Likewise, in the very act of saying you will only accept half of the council as women, you are admitting that there will be very qualified women that will be turned down because they would overfill the quota. It’s a terrible system that will result in under qualified people being selected simply because of their gender, man or woman.

He’s right. He’s annoying but he’s right. They should choose the best people to defat their laws, they shouldn’t have a quota for the gender of the people they choose. That isn’t equality, that is equity. That isn’t choosing people based on their skills, it’s choosing people based on their gender. Which is in itself sexist to both men and women.

The quota exists because we don't live in a perfect world and men are always considered better for anything! Once we manage to make the world perfect and see the skills and not the sex then there will be no need for these things to balance a horrible situation

You don’t need a perfect world to hire people based on qualification instead of outside factors. I would think they would be especially careful to do this for the leaders of their country.
