This isn't the first example people have given in referencing how many people died from one thing vs. another thing and how the majority deaths of one thing makes it more ... my brain is going a mile a second with this. It just reminds me of the time I was talking about the Holodomor with my then-bf's aunt, and what I had newly learned about it being this man-made genocide. She chorted she didn't believe it was a genocide because the vast amount of people who died wasn't a large enough number for her to accept it a genocide. It took everything in me not to smack her senseless and kick her out.

Die-hard carnivore here and this is straight-up disgusting. Also, if you haven't eaten meat/animal products in a while, you need to reintroduce them carefully because your digestive system needs to readjust - you can't just scarf down a fatty burger without nausea and probably getting the shîts.

This makes me feel nauseated. I don't mind so much if something is vegetarian but not entirely vegan - I will eat these things to be polite in social settings sometimes. Nowadays I don't have to because people will go out of their way to accommodate me, without me asking. But this would make me feel so violated. I remember years ago (when I was vegetarian, not vegan) I accidentally started eating a ham and cheese croissant. Sprinted to the bathroom to spit it out, felt sick the whole day.

I'm curious if they can actually see who provided the money. In my county / state you can look up who is the legal owner of a property and when it became theirs. But you can't see the source of where they got the funds to buy it. My first (and only) house was a bank repo and needed some work before a bank would give a traditional loan. My mom fronted the money, I replaced the flooring, some windows, did some other repairs. Then about six months later I got a traditional bank mortgage and paid my mom back. But you won't see my mom mentioned in the public records.

These people don't give two flying shites about the baby once it's born, and for all they know, the woman could have a health condition, like PCOS or PKD, something that prevents her from staying pregnant. For those that don't know what a food desert it's an area that's generally in lower income neighborhoods that don't have grocery stores or limited access via public transportation. Usually if there is, it's a small store with a limited selection and lacks things like Fresh Produce, Meat Depts, etc. and the prices are generally much higher then at the larger chain stores. Since the owners of those types of stores know that the people in the area don't have much choice if they want to purchase food to eat it's also can be poorer quality for a much higher price. This is a real problem in urban and rural areas, it allows businesses to take advantage especially of the disabled, elderly and those that have limited abilities to go outside of certain areas. Unfortunately, in urban areas where there has been a lot of crime some retailers are hesitant to open stores and have actually closed locations due to Theft. It's really an issue when you have pharmacies that refuse to locate in areas with high crime rates because it effects the elderly and disabled that may not have access to private or even public transportation.

I kinda hate to point this out, but as someone who has problems going out to get groceries and prescriptions sometimes, I rely on getting things I need from Amazon. They deliver food the same day or the next. They do the same for prescriptions, though I’m fortunate in that the VA mails me mine, but if, say, our president in all his “wisdom” were to cut that benefit, I’d gets my scripts filled via Amazon or Mark Cuban’s prescription company, if I can ever remember the name of it.

I'm white af, but I was adopted at birth into a Mexican family. Some of my family members have gotten the HARD shaft from the legal system, for the sole reason that they are brown people who live in the Los Angeles area of California. My family members also sometimes get blown off/dismissed by doctors/specialists. Once I hit adulthood, I started going with family members to consultations with lawyers, to doctor appointments, etc. and it DISGUSTED me how badly my family members were treated. I started asking very pointed questions of the "professionals" in some of these situations, and the attitudes of the lawyer/doctor/cop/etc would do a total 180 when they were speaking to me. It's absolutely infuriating. I'm just trying to get my FAMILY MEMBERS a fair shake, and it's so obvious that they sometimes don't even get a chance at one.

My wife wanted to not have an epidural. Me trying to be the supportive husband came up with a safe word to basically say she was actually in need of it and done. She thought the whole thing was silly so I picked something random: banana. A few hours in she said she needed one. I started to say ok are you sure do you... Didn't finish my sentence and she said super seriously 'f***** banana -random curse words- stupid f****** banana'. Maybe had to be there but I still laugh about it to this day. She swears she didn't say that. She got one, I didn't think any less of her, and she gave birth to our son! Son ended up loving bananas and I grow a bunch of them.

Had a newly minted engineer make a comment in front of me and a senior engineer about ignoring the advice of the toolmakers because they didn't have a degree. He thought I was only an engineer (started in Tool & Die and became a master before earning my engineering degree). Senior rolls his eyes as he knows what's coming. I said, "Yeah, it takes them 6 years to graduate to Master at the minimum, they know far more than you. You might want to keep that in mind." We got rid of him 10 months later for making a dog's breakfast out of two relatively simple projects.

As someone who spent 14 years as a Lab Tech in a f*****g blood bank this kind of s**t infuriates me. Because, you know some poor dumb bastard is actually going to believe this b******t. That's going to give these idiots one more reason to spread Anti-Vax information which is so damn dangerous it isn't even funny. I spent 34 days in the hospital with Covid and Pneumonia and almost died. Believe me this s**t isn't funny when you are in ICU and on a ventilator because 2 of my family members LIED about being vaccinated, both got sick and exposed me while I was doing CHEMOTHERAPY and had a compromised immune system. Even though I had quarantined myself and was doing EVERYTHING that my Oncologist told me to do. I was on supplemental oxygen for 6 months when I came home and have went completely NC with most of my family because some people actually defended them. Yes, I still have a lot of anger and resentment towards them if you can't tell.

The guy is an idiot, because your DNA is not the same as your genealogy, and that is an estimate at beast, and will likely change the next time that Ancestry updates its database. You can have a grandfather who is 100% Scandinavian meaning that your genealogy is 25% Scandinavian, but your DNA will show only 17% Scandinavian. The estimate is based on a test sample and the DNA markers which are considered to determine, say, Scandinavian, change as the test population grows. So their tattoo will be wrong next time Ancestry does an update.

Sounds like he doesn't fly with Asians much. Traveling too / from Asian countries a fair number of them would wear masks YEARS before covid was even a thing. They do it to avoid catching colds / flu while traveling with a bunch of strangers or as a courtesy if they are the ones who might have a cold. When I have a sore throat or a cold I always (!!!) Wear a mask when I take my kids to day care. Simply to spare the adults working there and the kids being there from potentially getting infected with whatever I got. And there are ALWAYS someone being all shocked and scared and I just reply with "I hope that one thing we learned during the pandemic was to wear a mask if we had any symptoms of illness in the respiratory system" and they all agree.... but look as shocked next time I show up wearing a mask.

Let's be generous and says it's 8am - 5pm, that's 9 hours, plus another hour of travel time, that's 10 hours. Again, being generous, let's say we get 7 hours of sleep, that's 17 hours. Another hour in food prep or so,, that's 18 hours gone. Now how about housework? Showers? Laundry? And by the time all that is done and you find this mythical free time, what time of day is it? Is the gym open, or can you workout without annoying your downstairs neighbor, or learn to play that instrument at 9, 10pm? Guaranteed this was a privileged, entitled poster with more time and money than most of us will ever have.

Not all Christians are like this... Sadly Christianity is. The whole idea of life being sacred and precious is an Abrahamic one... The Romans didn't even have a crime of murder for much of the time. If you get born... Tough, that's life... If you die... Tough, that's death. Technically dying is as natural as being born (and neither is good or bad, just facts of existence). I stayed in 7 hotels this past April & every single one had either a disposable key card or a drop box. They have my card on file, I’ve signed their agreement, they’ve already put a hold on my card for incidentals. Why would I waste their time handing them a key back just six they can tell me I’ll find a copy of my stay in my email? Most hotels appreciate the expeditious nature of not checking out the antiquated way. They’re gonna enter the room every day to either clean it or turn it.

While I saw this meme going around, some fact checking websites debunked it. You can watch the full video where, the video explains why slavery is evil and needed to abolished. It is a program with time traveling kids, and in one episode they go back to the late 1400s and have an argument with Columbus over slavery, they have Columbus using arguments that come from his writing, and the kids argue against it, and Columbus concedes to them that slavery is bad and should be abolished, but that it would take generations for society to change. Essentially the exact opposite of this meme

Yasuke did not become a samurai. He was a vassal of Nobunaga. Nobunaga gave him a sword and a house and made him a page (koshō). He was NOT samurai because samurai are a hereditary caste of nobility; in Japan, one was born into nobility/becoming a samurai. Japan was VERY strictly caste-oriented and xenophobic at that time period.

Back when I was on Twitter for a job I had making videos, I was blown away at the amount of people who do this yes. They claim to make art and paint etc. and then post their Dall E generated pics as if their own. Time and time again, I'd ask under the post if they actually painted it only to be met with indignant responses as if it's the exact same thing and how dare I ask. I went to school for traditional art and eventually switched over to digital so was just curious at their skills but you aren't allowed to point out to them the difference. Most of them didn't even know what a Wacom tablet was when I asked if that's what they were using. On a side note, I'm SO glad I don't have to go to twitter anymore lol. Walked away and never looked back.
