“Deserve To Be Flung Into The Sun”: 50 Dumb Drivers That Are A Danger To Themselves And Society (New Pics)
Cars are one of the most dangerous forms of transportation, second only to motorcycles. But since they’re such a routine part of daily life, it’s easy to forget how risky they can be. Being on the ground doesn’t feel nearly as intimidating as flying 40,000 feet in the air, after all.
The real concern, though, is that on the road, you’re constantly surrounded by other people—unlike planes, which don’t exactly have to worry about traffic jams in the sky. And let’s be honest, people can make some pretty ridiculous decisions behind the wheel.
Just take a look at the pictures we’ve gathered of some truly questionable drivers, and you’ll see exactly what we mean. Stay safe out there!

My Friend Was Hit By A Car Running A Stop Sign Today And The Dude Left The Scene, But Hey, At Least He Left Her A Little Souvenir
Wife and I were both heading to work, dude was tailgating her. She slowed and turned on her L signal, -bam- rear ender. He pulls around and takes off, 'never a cop around when you need one'?..Nope, deputy sheriff, who was behind him, lights him up, pulls him over. We were advised to stay there by the other cop who came after being called. Got to witness guy get cuffed and stuffed for an outstanding warrant.
Many years ago, when I worked for a beekeeper, we went to check a bee yard beside a little traveled road and discovered that someone had amused himself by pushing the hives over with a truck. He wasn't hard to find though, because he left his license plate behind. I'd like to think he saw when it fell off, but couldn't get out of his truck to retrieve it without getting stung.
HA HA. And VA has front and rear plates. Guess what hit & run dummy, you left your cars ID behind. Would love to see the insurance adjusters faces when they saw this pic.
Do they have a registration sticker on the front plate? This plate seems to have one, and it seems pretty unlikely to be from the rear.
Load More Replies...had that happen in my neighborhood...guy ran into a light pole, knocked it down, and sped away...leaving behind his bumper w/ license plate...

Don't Tailgate A School Bus When Your Car Is Shaped Like A Door Stop
That bus probably didn't feel a thing and barely got a scratch if at all.
Load More Replies...Anybody remember the Triumph TR7 adds back when, bragging that their wedge shape was "the shape of things to come"? I'd never really thought about it but this is likely one of the reasons it wasn't actually the shape of things to come. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrgF38F_qw0
"Don't tailgate" is a solid advice regardless the shape of the vehicle...
That car should be able to stop way more quickly than that bus, so it must have been extremely close, unless the driver wasn't looking at all.
Quite a few years ago, a woman (just happened to be) was driving behind a semi on US 127 near Harrison Mich in a whiteout condition. She got too close, and the front of the car was somehow hooked by the ICC bar. She went on an unwanted ride. The news footage of the vehicle after the fact was hilarious (no one hurt, just scared sh**less), absolutely caked with snow.
Last Weekend, I Was The Idiot. Didn't Notice Until 1h Down The Road
I called them as soon as I got in cell phone range. The hose was busted up by dragging so long. I agreed to pay for a new one which came out to $500.
I was thinking the gas station took advantage of them but after googling apparently "holy c**p gas pump hoses are expensive." ----- "It is expensive if the nozzle, breakaway and hose are all damaged. A breakaway costs $100 to $120. The hose is about $160. The nozzle is the most expensive, in the $350-plus range."
Thanks for looking into this. It seems like the gas station may have actually only charged them their actual cost or at the very least, this gas station doesn't seem to have taken advantage. Also not sure when this happened? It could have been in the early 2000's, going by the vehicle in this photo anyway. Which now that I think about it, is probably a stock photo that BP added. 🤦🏻♀️
Load More Replies...I will never, ever understand how people can be this stupid. How can this possibly happen? You stick the hose in there and a minute later just... forget that you did that?
It happens because they lock the trigger on the pump and go and do something else whilst their car fills up. As far as I am aware only the US allows this. In the UK and Europe the is no lock and you have to hold the trigger with your hand.
Load More Replies...How did you manage to do that? I stand beside my van while the pump is running and get my receipt when done. You did a very good thing in calling them and paying for the damage to the pump.
How can this even happen? I’m in the UK and if we self serve we have to put the nozzle back.
Real question: How do they make it so you *have* to put the nozzle back? Is there some sort of locking mechanism or something?
Load More Replies...😳😳😳 I did this once 😣. Luckily it had some sort of release so dumbasses like myself don’t cause even more damage
Gee Whiz, I Sure Hate Being Able To See Anything At All While Driving At Night So Thanks For Illuminating My Visibility To Zero
Disclaimer: photos taken safely at a red light!
While no picture can capture the essence of this somehow not illegal car lights, I feel like the literal twinkle streaks is a good indicator.
This person was behind me (and several others) most of my commute. Lights like this clearly aren’t for the driver’s visibility benefit since many are affixed to trucks requiring a miniature ladder to hop in, so what is the point other than Main Character douchebaggery?
I legit just had this happen to me, less than an hour ago. I ran to McDonald's to get a late night snack and I have a pretty low to the ground car. It's a Honda Accord coupe and I had some dbag, who was clearly overcompensating, in an F-350, lifted, with those ridiculously bright lights, behind me in the drive thru. I had to sit with my arm in a certain position, in order to help me from being blinded, from his lights reflected in my mirror, for almost 10 minutes. They're the worst and I've pulled over to let some of them pass me, just so I don't have to deal with it.
So much douchebaggery with lifted trucks. I went to my local CVS a few days ago and this giant truck with ridiculously large tires was parked diagonally across two spots with the truck idling. I guess his (because you know it was a he) passenger went into the store, and the ásshole couldn’t even be bothered with parking normally.
Load More Replies...Flip up your rear view mirror and turn both side mirrors out a little but. That way the guy behind you can enjoy the woner that IS HIS LIGHTING CHOICE!!! You'd be amazed how fast he'll back off and adjust his lights.
Was just gonna say this! I do this so often. It's silly that it's necessary at all!
Load More Replies...Dang! I despise these lights! They're the reason I avoid driving after dark if I can.
Tip your mirror, it'll reduce the glare while still allowing you to see traffic behind you
I stick my hand out the window and visibly block the side mirror so the person behind me knows what they are doing...
When that happens to me, I play with the angle on my rear view mirrors until they no longer blind me. If they HAPPEN to go back to the other cars person, that's just too bad, isn't it?!

It takes a towering douche to drive that kind of toy truck. In my humble opinion, of course.
It almost certainly isn't. It would be illegal in California. The biggest issue is that cops won't ticket douchbros like this, they'll congratulate them on their killer mods.

This Guy Doing 65mph+ On A Highway With His Tiny Dog Hanging Out The Window. What The Actual
I think that's actually a woman, driving that car?? Either way, this person doesn't deserve to have that poor pup. They should not be able to have any animals, if they can't even be bothered to keep them safe. There paws and nails are constantly slipping off, the body of the car, as they try to lean/balance, themselves next to the window in a moving car. I really hope this pup made it home, no thanks to their idiot human.
If he had to hit the brakes that poor little dog would go flying. I have the doggy seatbelts for my dogs. One goes into the buckle and clips on the collar or harness and the other goes around the headrest post and I use both on them.

The fun you can have hanging around the Ikea exit watching people trying to put a flat pack wardrobe , PC table and a couple of chairs in the back of a small saloon car, especially when they have shopped with their two children, Placenta and Tarquinola
Upvote for Tarquinola. We should find a way to get that on a list of possible baby names.

This Is What You Look Like When Your Don’t Have Your Headlights On
Every single time I drive at night through the city near me there is at least one person who doesn't have the lights on. When it is fully night time. And nothing I do has ever helped get them to realize that. Drives me insane
I know all about this phenomenon... Quite common here in The UK too. Don't worry, they can see fine...
In NY State, if your wipers are on your headlights must also be on. Otherwise it is a ticketable offense.
I see that all the time at dusk. I suppose their thinking is "I can see you so you can see me." NOPE!
Saw This Idiot Who Got His Tesla Stuck At The Beach Today

There are multiple choices, but this one will always be my favorite. Not only did this dumbass get stuck on the beach, he did it on a State Park beach where it's very illegal to be driving. IMG_2712-6...4-jpeg.jpg
If you look close you can see tracks behind it on the right side of the photo. I assume the rest of the tracks are behind the car where we can't see them.

Load More Replies...The “Snooze Button” Crew
Not everywhere. In NY there's no specific law saying you have to remove snow from your car. If the snow obstructs the driver's own view, like covering the rear window, they can be cited for reckless driving but snow on the roof like this is perfectly legal. Crazy but true.
Load More Replies...Have you ever been somewhere behind someone like this and then the base of the snow is dislodged and the damn thing flies back and hits your windshield? It's not fun.
It was an ice sheet, luckily skid over my roof, but boy, I'd've broken a blood pressure & heart rate monitor if you checked just then.
Load More Replies...Arrest this twat. I;ve nearly been killed by snow that's 1/4 of the height of this.
I hope they got a big ticket for driving like this. They didn't even attempt to clean off that vehicle, with over a foot + of snow, probably closer to 2 feet. Even if the whole thing doesn't fly off at once, while you're driving behind them, it can still cause damage/problems/accidents
I'm almost more shocked that they took the time to clear the back window
It's actually against the law and every single state of the United States that has snow, to drive with snow or ice on the roof of your vehicle.
Saw This Today While Driving On A Major Road. They Had Three Kids In The Bed And The Two Women Are Sitting On Lawn Chairs. Bonus Points For The Cigarettes Too
Obviously we know how dumb it was now, but I have very fond memories of riding in a truck bed on empty country roads as a kid.
Daisy, Me too, but not in lawn chairs. We knew enough to keep our butts in the bed to lower our center of gravity. Only times I stood or sat on the side was going slow in our own farm fields, like when we were heading out to get another load of hay or something.

If the police have arrived, they won't need the tub in order to feel the heat.
Ratchet Straps? We Don’t Need No Stinking Ratchet Straps
One bumpy road, or one hard braking from that pickup, and we have a scene straight out of Final Destination.
Load More Replies...We had a woman up here in Puget Sound who was hit by boards coming off the truck in front of her and going through her windshield. I've seen pics of her before this happened and she was just beautiful. Well, she's not beautiful now after a board hit her in the face and she's blind as well. So now we have a law that requires loads to be tied down and people still do what these idiots are doing. Do these people not have any braincells to think with?
First thing I would do is get away from them. Next is call 911 to report them. A few mos ago lady that works at a local TV Station was on her way home 1 day. A truck or van in front of her ran over a pry bar on the road, it flew into her windshield barely missing her head. Her car has cameras and they showed the video and talked to her on camera, she is NOT a reporter herself.

It's kind of funny that the '85 Toyota standard cab long bed I used to own could haul more than a bloated full size pickup today.

I had a flat once 4 miles from home at 2 in the morning. I was on a country road that was totally deserted that time of night. So I limped on home. It took 90 minutes, but I got home and didn't hurt the rim. I just couldn't afford a tow at the time.
My mother did it when she was late to get us from a rural school. She was pretty cool of a protective mom.
Any front wheel drive vehicle will do this easily. Now that the beads are pushed down flat he could drive on that wheel for weeks. It would be noisy, it would handle like sħit, and it would throw a lot of sparks.

Isn't that illegal? Here in the UK windows must be clear of frost and snow. Snow must also be cleared from the roof. Luckily we don't get much snow in the South West though we have this year unfortunately.
Shoulda snapped his tag too, then called 911. That is a commercial vehicle.
A few years ago I was driving a Pontiac which sits low to the ground I got rear-ended by a woman in a big lifter truck because she didn't see my car. That was the last time I drove that car. My kid was in the back seat. No one was hurt thankfully and almost no damage. I only drive our jeep or my cube now. Both sit higjer.
I hate that... everyone is driving bigger gas guzzling vehicles because too many other people have giant gas guzzlers that make it hard to see from a normal car. My family keeps trying to convince me to trade in my car for an SUV but I stubbornly refuse. I admit that it's nice driving a borrowed truck and seeing so much more but will never own one.

At Some Point Last Night Someone Hit Our Neighbors Mailbox. Nobody Heard Anything. Just A Stab In The Dark Here, But I'm Willing To Bet They Were Drunk Since They Left Part Of The Flippin Car
Also, that they seemed to have obliterated, that brick mailbox post/encasement. They definitely were driving pretty fast and I don't see any skid marks either, which can be another indicator of drunk or distracted driving.
One of my neighbors had trouble with kids purposely running over their mailbox. So they built a hollow one and reinforced it with concrete and rebar inside. Kids got stuck and stayed stuck til the cops came.
I read about a guy years ago that got his mailbox hit so he built one using some gauge steel and made it to where it also has a timed elevating system on it because it is in the ground for it to come above the ground for the mail and deliveries.

Saw This Today. Lady Told Me She Was Reaching Down To Get Phone And Accidentally Hit Accelerator
I am always amazed at things like this because I would have predicted that this couldn't ever actually happen.
I have learned through several near misses that if you drop the chapstick, phone, earring, or drink you leave it there until you can pull over and retrieve it safely.
I was on my bike heading for the Bartell D***s parking lot when I saw someone back into a light pole in reverse, going over the curb of the parking lot and into the pole. I was waiting in line at the pharmacy when the driver and her friend came in. She was upset and said she hit reverse by accident. Someone must have called the police, as an officer came in and asker her some questions, I assume to find out if she was drunk or maybe a little off due to her age.
Saw This Driving Home Today. Driving 65mph, No Straps, No Door, No Problem
It's a rental. I steer clear of these as much as I can since the likelihood is high that the driver doesn't know the laws pertaining to this. By the way, it already looks like he took a right turn too fast.
ANYtime I see a driver with this happening, I assume the latch didn't catch and he is unaware. Had it happen a handful of times and the driver immediately pulls over when you point behind.

Ooooh. I saw a pick up tear down my street with two dogs in the back. Took a turn too fast and one of the dogs fell out. Truck kept going. I was halfway down the block toward the pup when the truck came back for him. I should have called the cops.

I brake-slammed the last guy into the dashboard when he wouldn't buckle up and gave me lip about it. He still wouldn't buckle up. Friendship ended. I hope he liked that ten mile walk in 2 degree C weather.
I had prob like this, latch wasn't working and on national recall waiting list. I put the passenger belt through drivers belt and latched the passenger belt into the passenger latch. Did the same thing when there was a passenger. They were properly safe and I was as safe as I could make it...at least it was latched.
In England, taxi drivers are actually exempt from wearing a seat belt - so they can't be restrained to be robbed or assaulted.
I suspect that doing this is his way of making passing police officers think he's using his seat belt. 🙄
But why not just buckle it up, properly, then? What does the guy achieve with this that he can’t with a properly done up belt?

Traffic Was Backed Up For Miles Because Of This Guy
I don't think I've ever seen someone, underneath their car, in the middle of a high traffic intersection, trying to repair it. Like they're at home working in their own driveway or garage, all la-di-da, don't mind me. I'm surprised that a cop hasn't pulled up, yet, to rectify the situation.
I don’t like snitching, but I totally would have called the cops.

I had the silencer (muffler) partially fall off my classic and it jammed itself into the rear wheel arch preventing the wheel from turning. I had to crawl under the car in the middle of a busy high street to undo the retaining bolt to release it and get it out. This was made more difficult by the fact that it was still hot. Unlike this poor guy, I did actually get an offer of help. It was soon fixed, but it was a noisy drive home!

This Man Only Needs 4 Wheels And An Engine To Get Somewhere (Montreal)
Almost looks like a junk yard car. There is a local junk yard that had a couple of cars in really bad shape that ran but were missing various parts. They used them just in their own yard when they were driving out to the back to bring some engine or part back up to the front. In other words, basically motorized carts. But they didn't take those cars on the public roads.

I worked at a big box store many years ago and we had a woman pull her car right up to the front doors, lock it up, and go inside. People were having to walk around her car to enter the store. The front desk paged for probably 15-20 minutes. She finally came up to the front desk, management explained she had to move her car. Her response? I'm shopping!
They should have had it towed immediately. She was in the fire lane. Unless she parked on the sidewalk, but still, she was blocking any emergency vehicle.

Kalikima, I'm pretty sure the red thing is a car dolly. It's a two wheel thing that hitches to the tow bar. The car being towed (normally) has its front wheels on the dolly in about the same position as the dolly's wheels. In the picture above, it appears they did not have the front axle strapped down and at some point hit the brakes hard enough the car slid forward on the dolly and is now resting on the hitch portion of the car dolly. If that's not clear, google "car dolly" and you will see lots of pictures of how they look with and without cars on them.
Load More Replies...As I mentioned in a comment above, it is perfectly legal in 46 out of 50 states, to ride in the bed of pick-up truck with no seats or restraints (although 25 of those states have various age & speed restrictions).
There's a design / behaviour flaw here: modern pick-up trucks don't have a long enough bed and are treated as strictly decorative vehicles (compensation / rather than people buying a stationwagon) and so can't actually haul stuff safely. Back in the 70s my parents had a Ford F150 supercab -- the rear seating area was tiny, but you could carry full-length 2x4s safely in the back. Designed to actually haul things, not to double as the family car with a postage stamp in the back.
One time a lady backed into me in a parking lot. She had a cover over 80% of her back window. She asked me "how could you expect me to see you with my window covered like that?". There are cases that puzzle me and perhaps there should be some kind of road psychologist? I think people too often transfer their domestic frustrations to the road to their driving style. For example, what I often encounter is a vehicle that has been following me for a long time calmly suddenly starts to overtake me in front of a pedestrian crossing and then the driver, probably preoccupied with his phone or thinking about an argument with his wife and snapped out of his lethargy by the desire to overtake me, notices that he is in front of the crossing so .... ... gives all the gas the factory gave to fit in, but still does not fit in front of .... so I have to brake... madness. Maybe the police should be able to send drivers to a psychologist?
