My name is Bluebell Rizzi. I do a lot of things, but in this post I just feature my writing and one of my drawings. Click “show full text” to see the poem :)
You
———————-
Shame scrapes his fingers down my spine
Scratching away my bones
Clawing at my heart
Misery creeps out from her hiding place
To whisper untruths in my ear
My fingers weaken and droop
Joy slipping through the gaps
Where I feel the loss of someone I never met
All the bad memories scream with laughter
Dancing with my bad thoughts
In the glittering ballroom of impending death
They feast joyfully upon my happiness
And their sole invitation was one sentence from your mouth
I fight without knowing why
For I see no reason to stay
When day after day, proof is thrown in my face
That time detests to waste itself upon me
And the air I breathe is needed elsewhere
I think you deserve a great reward, a medal
For unknowingly releasing this army inside my heart
That which attacks my very core and results in brutal civil war
And every time you leave me to weep on my own
Watch me cry and comfort another
It corrodes my spirit, chipping it away
And I fear that if I do not leave
There will be nothing left of me to save.
