Like most people, I have a list of places I want to visit at least once before I die. And NYC has always been at the top of the list.
I am from Bangladesh, a small beautiful country in South Asia. I grew up watching American cartoons, Hollywood movies, and reading books based in the USA, so you can tell my childhood was heavily influenced by North American culture. I used to dream about living in New York City, in one of those old Manhattan apartments, walking through 5th ave, window-shopping in SoHo, taking the subway to Central Park, watching the big Christmas tree they place in Rockefeller Centre, you know the whole shebang!
Now I live somewhere near the city, I visit the city of my dreams pretty much every month and still, it all feels surreal. Like I'm still dreaming. So I take photos, tons of photos, to convince myself I wasn't dreaming!
The city is crazy, crowded, the streets smell nasty, people are pretty rude yet I can never deny the charm New York, the dirty, filthy, crowded, multicultural, crazy New York holds for me.
The perfect concrete jungle.

I enjoyed these very much. I lived there three years. How wonderful you realized your dream. Your using black and white film made these timeless.
Mixed feelings. Great pictures that make New York look fascinating. I'm happy you captured the city of your dreams. However I was there, admittedly long ago and fleetingly, and it would take a gun to my head to make me return. Sorry, New Yorkers.
Aww! Such an unfortunate event! Your feelings are absolutely justified!
