I'm Andrew and I'm an animal photographer best known for my captivating images of felines. While I used to be terribly allergic to cats, I now live with my girlfriend, our three cats, and a slew of rotating foster kittens outside of D.C.
Recently finished a project about cats' love for the green stuff.
I have a book coming out on June 19th called CATS ON CATNIP and wanted to share a few shots from it. This book was sooo much fun to make and I hope you guys enjoy a sneak peak!

Hippie! When I was a child, my mother explained that Yuppie meant, Young Urban Professional. So, I asked, "What does Hippie mean?" She told me it meant, Head In a Pile of Pot. I still laugh at her amazing Mommy improv.
"It's like, What if Tunas are, like, giant sea monsters, that could like, eat US?"
This is a beautiful cat. I was given a gray kitten once for my Birthday when I was very young. I named him Stormy. A couple days later my Mom had a nightmare about cats. She took my beautiful little kitty and gave it away. I'm 48 and I still think about that beautiful, soft and fluffy little kitty. Especially when I see gray cats.
We've got a catnip plant by our driveway, and the cats love it (whether they are ours or not. There's a flat spot on the plant where they always roll)
I USED to have several... until the eventual discovery.. now I only have stubs.. and they STILL roll on them!
Load More Replies...I wonder how any of the big cats would act when zoinked on catnip.... On an totally unrelated issue, can someone point me to a place where I can buy a couple kilos of catswort plant in Southern parts of Kenya? It's for a friend.
Can someone explain to me the purpose of catnip? Just to get them high? What's the purpose in that? I'm just curious, I've never owned a cat.
Uh it really does seem to get them high. Mine take a long nap after. There isn't an equivalent for dogs. It's pretty weird, lol.

We recently had a foster mom who got a bit tooooo hyped up on the stuff and would bunnykick her kittens. She was flagged after her first round.
Load More Replies...I am trying to grow some catnip for my beasts. I hope it happens! Those pics are awesome :D My previous long gone feline Friends were brought catnip once. Once, because they started drooling and became obsessed with the floor where it was for several days xD
Its nice to know that cats have a weakness we can exploit if they try to rule - They probably would of overthrown us already with minimal resistance if it wasn't for that sweet nip
with six cats of my own and a photographer, these are wonderful and good luck with the book!
And this guy has a GREAT instagram account, btw! Been following him for ages.
Load More Replies...We had two cats, male and female. The male didn’t respond to catnip at all, our female went crazy! Rolling and rubbing in it, eating it, smelling it! She was hilarious while playing with it! She’d make these little growls and then meow, then growls, it was so funny., her brother would look at her with cat pity on his face, and then walk away casually! That was even funnier!
My pees on anything with catnip on it. Bed, chair, area of the floor, her towel bed... all had cat nip and all were peed on
I understand your fun taking the photos, I have two cats and constantly trying to get good shots of them, and often having a good laugh, such joy !!!
These are hilarious. Alas, my cats have zero interest in catnip. Zilch.
I don't know anything about cats. Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is catnip?
It's a plant, Nepeta cataria, that (usually) effects cats like marijuana does people.
Load More Replies...These are hilarious! One of my older cats is crazy about catnip. Whenever she gets her paws on some, the others just stare at her like "what the heck thought you were the responsible one"
That's cute. My cat isn't sensitive to catnip (she likes the smell and will lick some catnip toys, but she doesn't get "high" off of it) so I don't get to have the experience often.
I was about to reply here with the same statement. My cat seems immune. I used to have another one who would kinda get high on black olives as well, and as far as I understand there is a substance in the olives similar to what's in catnip. But my cat now couldn't care less. Whenever she takes a poop at 3 AM she starts running around acting crazy though... so I guess to each their own. xD

I don't think catnip causes hallucinations for cats? Euphoric, sure, but then again cats can react differently - some become exctatic and get stoned, but some get simply drowsy and fall asleep :D So catnip can be used as a relaxing measure when such a cat needs to go to the vet or face other stressful experience.
