I Started A Photography Project Called “How I Met My Best Friend”, Where I Tell Stories Of How People Met Their Pet(S).

I’ve been photographing owners with their pets and telling their stories about how they met each other. I’ve realized we all struggle in different ways and pets play and absolutely amazing role at keeping us sane and happy. In a world where some issues such as mental illnesses are still a bit of a taboo, I hope this project makes people realize they’re not alone.

Florence & Peanut: “I can’t tell exactly how old Peanut was when I got her, but the lady who had posted her already had a purse, a closet full of clothes for Peanut and accessories as well, which I found very odd. After I got her, I took her to the vet for a check up and on top of being very skinny, her teeth were all rotten. They ended up removing all but four of them, which we later found on the couch.” (Full story on website)

Nicole & Inara: “When we got there, the puppies were living in horrible conditions. The owners smoked in the house, there were ashes all over the carpet, the dogs were peeing and pooping inside the house and it wasn’t being cleaned up. You could tell this was the first time the owners had puppies and most likely the last as they looked so overwhelmed.” (Full story on website)

Emily & Oliver: “When I went to pick up my first foster dog, Oliver tagged along as I had agreed to look after him for 4 hours until his foster mom would get off work. I loved my little foster dog, but Ollie stuck to me like glue and didn’t want to be put down nor did he want to get walked. I thought… I love this dog.” (Full story on website)

Dillon the Service Dog (Golden Retriever)

Julie & Dillon: “My Golden Retriever is my service dog. Dillon was raised in a Colorado prison by an inmate and I flew to Kansas 2 years ago to be matched with him.” (Full story on website)

So cute! It's horrible how some animals are treated so cruelly. But the pictures and stories are amazing xxx

We adopted our dog Trooper when he was 10 weeks old. He had a brother that was adopted 2 weeks before him and 3 people had called to arrange a time to meet Trooper for possible adoption and absolutely none of them showed up. He certainly wasn’t the cutest puppy but I just felt something towards him immediately and knew we had to take him home. He is a rat bag and his behaviour can be quite confronting to some (he air snaps, which is attention seeking behaviour not aggression). But we absolute love him, he can be a big sook, loves belly rubs and lots of attention.
