Let Me Show You The Beauty Of The Baltic Sea Which I’ve Captured Throughout 10 Years (32 Pics)
Sea can be in different moods. This is what I wanted to photograph: its calm and its anger.
I am a photographer living by the Baltic Sea. That sea is considered by many people to be uninteresting. I think that’s not true. I like getting out of bed before dawn, going to the sea, watching and photographing. And every time I am convincing myself that the Baltic Sea is a beautiful sea! At any time of the year, in any weather, it shows many of its faces: calm and quiet, angry and dynamic. Romantic and noisy. Cold as ice and hot as fire.

I was born far from the sea, I moved here when I was 19. My first steps in photography were quite common: people, flowers, simple landscapes etc. A couple of years later I started to photograph the sea in Gdańsk, where I live. I also started discovering that the sea can have various moods. So the answer is: yes, living by the sea helped me in my personal photography development.
I've just lived in Gdańsk for more than 20 years. It's a city on the Baltic shore. The Baltic Sea is quite a cold one, but in the summer there's a lot of people on its beaches. Personally, I prefer all other seasons, when the Baltic Sea shows all its moods. It can be calm like a lake or angry like an ocean. When winter comes, it also can be frozen by the shores, because it isn't a deep sea. There's a lot of wild places on the Baltic shores and I think it may be a main difference between it and many of the seas and oceans worldwide.
In general—dawns and dusks because of its soft, warm sunlight. But of course there are exceptions, many times I photographed in the middle of day. Usually, the most important for me is that there are not many people around.
My gear: Canon 6D body, usually a couple of lens: Canon 17-40L, Canon 70-200L, Tamron 150-600, Manfrotto 055 PRO tripod and a pack of NiSi and Lee filters.
Well, I'd like to realize some of my secret plans. In the nearest future, I wanna continue my project of photographing a particular place near Gdańsk in all 4 seasons. I have two and two remaining, so in winter I'm gonna make the third part of this small project.
I adore each of these photos, they're so inspirational and picturesque... Is this picture at sunrise or sunset?
