I Self-Published My Illustrations In A Book When No Publishing House Believed In My Project (10 Pics)
Creating an art book of my own has been a passion project, which has been waiting for more than 5 years. I have been going back and forth thinking that now is not the right time, the financial part might be too complicated, I didn’t have the know-how or the time to take on something so big or I was just simply marinating on the thoughts that I was not good enough.
What the recent and not so recent events taught me is that waiting for the “perfect” moment is like waiting for а Hogwarts letter. I have been waiting for mine for over 15 years and it still hasn’t arrived. The good side of all the self-isolation and work from home is that I realized how much time I now have for my personal projects and polishing my skills. And speaking about skills I came to the conclusion that the more experienced and skilled one artist becomes, the more they realize how much more there is to learn and master, therefore one would hardly fully master their skill. And I understand that now. The creative journey of an artist is a constant battle between practice, motivation, learning, experimenting, failing, and of course searching for your own unique style. Long story short, it seemed that according to my own initial understanding I would have never been good enough and there won’t ever be a perfect time for my passion project.
However, there was one thing that I was missing out on completely. It came to me, that I don’t need to be the best or perfect, I just need to be good and as long as I’m just a single step ahead of someone I will be able to help them get started on their artistic journey.
