I Make Gardens Of Flowers Out Of Paper Quilling Strips

Now, I may or may not be obsessed with gardens. My love of flowers is so strong, I used to be a floral designer! Walking through gardens lets me absorb the peace of nature, the scents of the flowers, the color palettes of the landscape, and I come home to translate that through my artwork – making a visual stamp of nature through paper. With these visions dancing around in my head, a color palette is chosen, long thin strips of paper are measured, cut, curled, coiled, looped or weaved before being glued and shaped into petals, and before long all the petals are assembled together and a flower is “art”ificially born! Using the flowers, leaves and greenery, I arrange them in a layout according to the principles of floral design, making crescents, S-shapes, vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines, borders or wreaths.

Why paper? It’s as natural as flowers! I love the different textures, widths, thickness and colors, and by using paper, the piece becomes more dimensional. Each project is unique; no two color palettes are the same because of the various dyes used to color the paper. There’s a myriad of flowers and greenery to choose from, different ways to curl, twist and cut, and the layout of design is endless.

My name is Violeta and I am an editor here at Bored Panda. I love reading memes for a living. It’s obviously much more than that, but I appreciate the variety of topics, information, and pics I get to see every day and share with the world! Those funny memes really make my day too. Being born in the ’90s in post-Soviet Lithuania speaks more about me than I’d like to admit. I’m still learning about the world and myself, but I do love my friends, traveling, art, and my cat. My favorite fact to share about myself is that I used to hide meatballs in my friend’s pockets at lunch so I could go play outside. I wish all those meatballs could find their way back to me someday.
