During a stressful time of my life, while living alone at 19-20, I had this sudden revelation about what I still valued in this world: mangas, music, books, fantasy, movies, and fond childhood memories. Most of all, I missed drawing and longed for a supportive community. To make the best out of a tight schedule and create the world where I am free to improvise, be myself and explore whatever comes to my mind, I incorporated all the things I care about into compact circular doodles.
Frequently, the doodles turn out ambiguous which I hope makes them audience-friendly as whoever views them across cyber space can have their own interpretations about them without knowing what show, book or song they could be inspired by. Some artists that have inspired my art style include Kerby Rosanes (Sketchy Stories) who’s work introduced me to the world of doodling with ink pens, Hayao Miyazaki, mandala artists, and various ‘mangakas’ I came across overtime. Doodling in these circles have somehow become my life force as I’ve been able to connect with people who value similar things as I do and feel similar emotions as I do. It has really helped me find a way around my low self-esteem to understand that there is a community where people share their feelings and thoughts in a way that they can’t through words.

…and it was on that day I made the snowman.”
