Reminds me of an owl drawing my youngest did. I didn't do a digital remake of it, but I remade the drawing into a stuffed animal. I've done a couple plushies for him out of his drawings. He's so talented.
Accuracy of shape, attention to detail and containment of color within boundaries are at a fascinating level for a 5yo!
Your kid is delightfully talented and imaginative. I hope he hasn't felt that his work needed your reworks. His work stands best on its own and he should certainly be encouraged without any changes. If we're gonna be talking about your work, I think, we'd rather see what you do as originals rather than reworking your kid's fantastic stuff.
I see what you're trying to do here, and it's a nice sentiment, but I think a lot of parents might appreciate seeing a different perspective on kids' works of art. I don't believe this necessarily takes away from what the kid did at all. It might even encourage him to branch out into using computer art in addition to colors and markers. At no point did I get the impression OP thought of their digital interpretation as any sort of improvement.
