Dogs are often a big part of the family and can be a great addition to an apartment, but not every dog is suited for a small space. The best apartment dogs for a small space are those that can be left at home alone for extended periods of time. The first step to getting an apartment dog is to determine what type of dog you want. If you have a small space and want something low-maintenance, then you should consider getting a smaller breed. If you have more space, then you can explore more options.

This pup looks like Bouche's toys when she's done pouncing them.

You wouldn't think a dog this large is good for apartment living but they are very mellow and giant couch potatoes!

Another dog that likes companionship and lots of exercise. Greyhounds are not low maintenance

Yep, greyhounds, also Galgos or Podencos, Whippets, Afghanians and others, need a lot of fresh air and movement, and some exercises like mantrailing for example. Not good to keep alone in a tiny apartment. Not at all.

Bullies are not low maintenance dogs and have a lot of health problems. They are very sociable dogs and I would not recommend leaving one alone for a long period of time, the same as every dog here on this list. Dogs need the toilet at least once every four hours

With their super flat faces/noses this breed is also brachycephalic and will get respiratory and eye problems,, plus bone problems because their heads are so giant compared with the rest of their bodies. #Qualzucht (torment breed).

Poor pugs, sweet, loyal and have breathing issues. Hope you don't mind snoring!
