Crater Lake National Park
With Crater Lake, I used 2 different color schemes to show the elevation of the lake surface
Wizard Island, and the steep shoreline
Numerous streams radiate out from the crater, starting from springs
Mt Scott on the east of the lake
Arches National Park
Arches contains the highest detail I have done with these series so far
Devils Garden
Fiery Furnace
Balanced rock and the Windows
The dots in the upper left are Balanced Rock, and the windows section are the fine detail just right and below the center of the image
Great Sand Dunes
With this map, I changed the color scheme at the elevation of the highest Dunes
Some poor person had to survey the dunes
Detail of the Mountains encompassed in the National Preserve
The transition from valley floor to the dunes
Grand Tetons
The Tetons themselves
Mt Moran
Other maps in this first series

Share on FacebookI love topographical maps! When I studied them in high school I can remember some students understood them intuitively and other people struggled with the concept. I wonder if something like this could be used to make them easier to understand.
