It's fascinating to see how people's attitudes and views have changed throughout all these years. Sure thing, everyone is unlike each other no matter what generation you were born in – however, speaking strictly about the societies of specific periods, the difference is truly bewildering.

Each generation has its own twist, whether it's something positive or not. Every one of us has lived or is living in our own version of the world, and sometimes it's simply impossible to imagine what the following generations could be like.

Take boomers and those that fall into generation Z, for instance. The contrast between these two is immense, and it's impressive how distant the generations are from each other. Besides, most of you have probably heard that "OK boomer" catchphrase that came around a couple of years ago: it was and sometimes is still used to sort of mock the attitude of the pre-millennial folks.

Well, today, we'll be focusing on the boomers and boomers only, as these Twitter users decided to gather together and reveal occasionally sarcastic yet amusing things they absolutely adore about those mid-20th-century babies.

Lol GPS is not accurate enough in rural areas, but so many people, mostly east coast city, refuse to prepare themselves properly. Age is unrelated, lol but everyone over 40 knows that maps are handy when there's no service or the GPS is wrong lol

Let's start from the beginning; baby boomers, or, if shortened boomers, is a term used to describe folks who were born between 1946 and 1964. All together, boomers make up approximately 26 percent of the population and the reason why the generation was named this way was because of the spiking birth rate that began to happen right after WWII. People were forced to put an indefinite pause on their lives and risk everything instead, so it's understandable that the majority wanted to start their new chapter and create their own families as soon as the global conflict was finally out of the picture.

Looking back at the "OK boomer" trend, a lot of youngsters don't appreciate the older generation's outlook on today's different societal matters. Now, of course, it's unacceptable to generalize a whole age group, which is why most people are aware that many older folks are actually very self-aware, tend to positively impact on the planet, and are generally eager to educate themselves if they're willing to understand that, these days, society's views are completely contrasting to those they are so used to.

Though, if we think about it – conflict between generations is not a new phenomenon. Despite the fact that the gaps between all those different age groups are not immensely huge, our society views change with the speed of light. For the last 60 or so years, our world has undergone such a colossal switch; we've been through wars, economical issues, our scientists made literally humongous progress in medicine, people came up with unimaginable technology and most importantly – folks became more accepting. Somehow, it's possible to comprehend that older generation might have a problem with catching up with today's morality; however, the blatant ignorance of some could never be excused.

1968 (Me) UCLA = $300 per year. Min. wage $1.60. 188 hours of work covered 1 year at UCLA. 2012 (Son) UCLA = $14,460 per year Min. wage $7.25 1,994 hours of work to cover 1 year at UCLA I'd work part time over the summer vacation and have plenty for college. If I worked fulltime for the summer, I'd have a LOT left over. https://www.dailycal.org/2014/12/22/history-uc-tuition-since-1868/

I worked full-time and went to college full time and had a mental breakdown and attempted suicide. Still never finished my degree because I was hospitalized for half a semester and owed the college money, and still do. Fu¢k all the way off with the "just work harder" stance. I'm a millennial btw. So I'm in my 30s.

And there's always the financial aid dilemma. As income goes up, aid goes down. If I worked much more than part time in college it started to affect my grants. Work more *and* leave free money on the table? No thanks.

Im 27, went to tech school for a degree that had a lot of demand and that I could tolerate/enjoy. I worked hard while going to school. Took a year off from school when i got married to do some more manual labor, me and my wife lived in a mobile home our first year of marriage, while she worked a minimum wage job and went I went back to school and worked manual labor. Graduated debt free. I never felt like I could afford or it was worth getting a 4 year degree. And I have never felt held back by that. I make more now than most 4 year degrees would give me the opportunity to make. There are millions of well paying jobs available for those with the right tech school degree or in the trades.

Mind if I ask what degree you went for in tech school? I've been considering some kind of tech school, but not sure what my best options would be.

My college tuition was $2k a semester. I made $3.65/hr before taxes at my part time job. My first job out of college was $13k, about average. If not for my academic scholarship, I couldn't have gone to college.

Not everyone lives in the USA and has the scam system. We don’t have college. Grade K-12 then University. When some of my classmates went on exchange to the USA they found your so called higher education in college the equivalent of 8th grade in Australia. In the reverse the Americans would cry they saw what level first year Uni was at. Oh and the govt spots us our education higher wise. Even masters and PHD.

Ha, free education for everyone. Tech school, University, certificate , all cool. When you get a better job you can pay more taxes. Everyone should have the opportunity to pay tax.

For those who are graduating high school. Follow every link that says scholarship. Even the small 500 dollar scholarships are good. My mother was an average student but got the most scholarships because she applied to everything

Well most of the scholarships are gender and race locked now so this strategy only works for certain demographic groups... For example the STEM field is predominately male dominated and to compensate for this the schools give most of their scholarships in these fields exclusively to women. I know this because this was the exact strategy I attempted with near perfect ACT scores in math and physics and 3.9 highest honors gpa. For fun I also looked at scholarships in female dominated fields since I quickly realized I would not be able to study my academic passions -- even in these fields there were basically no scholarships for me -- this definitely put the value of my life into perspective.

Randy Farrell

Lol a degree these days doesn’t assure anything anymore. Unless it’s a highly specialized field, most degrees are literally a piece of paper you come out with and still work a minimum wage job because the market is so competitive and in a lot of cases, most these jobs hire someone they know, who learned everything they need to know about it online, outside of actual job experience. College degrees these days are a joke, and extremely overpriced. If your not going to be a doctor, lawyer or a post grad type of degree, go learn a trade for a quarter the cost and you’ll make just as much as that bachelors without anywhere near the amount of debt.

Really...was in military...worked part-time to afford my share of the tuition and books. Took 14 years in 3 countries on 3 continents to earn my Baccalaureate. A dime and pocket lint-you obviously have no clue

The "dime and pocket lint" comment was an unnecessary exaggeration. But it's true that in comparison with what older generations paid for higher education, and taking into account inflation and wage raises, the current generations are spending a far higher percentage of their wages on college tuition, and we definitely can't afford college on a minimum wage job.

Just don't pick expensive schools. Plenty of state colleges/universities out there that are a fraction of the cost for the same degree. I make six figures doing the same job my coworkers do and got a much cheaper degree.

I went to a state school. Their own published figures for the average cost per year after financial aid is applied (for the 2018-2019 school year) comes to $16,210. After factoring in the new $9.25/hr minimum wage in Illinois, and accounting for taxes, you MIGHT be able to graduate debt free if you had a full-time job in addition to being a full-time student and incurred absolutely no other expenses.

Nowadays, the majority of younger individuals are very inspired to better the planet. People come up with many movements to better the lives of those who are underprivileged or in need, resulting in this generation striving to be more mindful of various problems that hinder people's overall peace. Still, a concerning amount of folks stay in denial of all the things that are wrong with our society, which is why it's important to educate those who are a little lost. Though, it's not always possible to change someone's opinion – so things like "OK boomer" might occasionally surface as a sort of opposition to those who are not willing to learn.

While the generational conflict is an issue that will most likely follow folks that come after us, and the folks that come after them – there's nothing anyone can do that would completely stop or at least interfere, to then magically make all the people of the world stand together and have a universally positive mindset. While we can use our voices and various resources to improve our community, there'll be still someone who will be actively standing up for something that is considered to be morally wrong.

It's important not to stand still and progress for the sake of those who will come after us – however, no one could physically predict what's going to happen in a few weeks' time, let alone in 50 years. The harsh reality is that maybe humans will never be able to bond as much as some would've liked to, but it doesn't mean that we should stop trying.

I know, right? Like who's got time for that? Man, it reminds me of when I was growing up in a small farm town. We didn't have much, but we appreciated what we had. Everyone didn't agree with each other on everything, but we all got along and let each other be, you know what I mean? Billy, Jim and I used to ride out bikes every which way. On the hit summer days you'd find us down at the creek where someone had tied a rope to an old tree branch to swing into the water. Other days we'd be exploring the woods, finding new hiding spots or building forts. One day Billy climbed to the top of a really high line tree, so high the branches couldn't support his weight and he had to cling to the top of the trunk because he was afraid he'd fall if he tried to get back down to the sturdier branches. Jim stayed with him and I rode like the wind to find Billy's pa who had an old time fire truck with the extendable ladder. Man, we still joke about those days sometimes. Anyway, I agree, freaking boomers

Its an excuse for bad behavior saying one should be forgiven for all excesses because we only have one chance to enjoy ourselves. Many of the bad things in this world, from climate change deniers to anti-vaxxers, boil down to I deserve to be happy even if it means others are hurt because we only have one chance at happiness.

I mean - it comes from the latin term "libra pondo" which means "weight in pounds." It was abbreviated to lb (with a cross through the l and b) in the 14th century. The lb typeface was developed by printers in the 17th century. Handwriting that symbol eventually evolved into what you know today but the symbol was still called "pound." It wasn't until Internet Relay Chat (Yay 90s!) that anyone ever used the term hashtag, and that was mostly just used by the software engineers. The use of the octothorpe in Twitter came about in 2007 when a Gen Xer named Chris Messina suggested it to Twitter - and he called it a pound sign even then. Just saying, 800 years of it being called pound vs 25 years of anyone even knowing the term hashtag and really only in common use for the last 10-15 years.
