These are heavy cotton canvas floorcloths that I hand cut and paint in a traditional technique that began in the 18th century. I use modern products such as Minwax polycrylic which makes them durable and washable. They are great for protecting wood floors, under plants, pet food, and tabletop use takes tablescaping to a new level. They can be hung on a wall if the idea of stepping on it is not appealing. I offer custom orders and have a great time researching original illustrations from the 1700s of my own choosing to recreate.
I started painting floorcloths a few years ago when my child was officially diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and Fibromyalgia. I was painting murals and faux finishes in private homes, and had to find a way to work at home when her many medical appointments pulled me away. This art form translated very well for me. I added them to my Etsy store and currently continue to try to make lemonade out of the lemons life has handed us. Each sale supports ongoing pain management for my daughter. I hope you enjoy them, share them, and perhaps give one a try!
