I Came Out To My Mom As Gay, But She Still Doesn’t Know I’m Also Transgender

I noticed that something was wrong with me when I was in my first relationship with a girl. I knew that I’m gay since I was 13 and I’ve always loved being a tomboy. But soon I realized that I’ve never felt comfortable being in my own body. I was really worried so I started reading articles about gender dysphoria. Then it finally clicked – I’m transgender.

I'm not sure why parents would have a problem with their kids being gay, straight, transgender, etc...as long as they're happy. Who cares about the rest. Most parents that act this way are only thinking about how it reflects on them. "What will my friends think? Where did I go wrong? This is not how I raised my kids!" The fact is, it's not about you. It's about them. And if you are a decent parent..you love your children unconditionally. If outside forces are pressuring you to reject your kids for merely being true to themselves, then your kids aren't the problem. Love and happiness should be your only driving force when it comes to your kids.

Can you guys please stop making articles about these videos? It's incredibly likely that these guys, along with other 'animated storytime' videos in the same strand, make up these stories for views. Please stop putting them on here and give some attention to real stories about LGBT youth.

If I come off as ignorant or rude I'm sorry and I feel like I'm gonna get a lot of downvotes, but isn't being gay and transgender like being straight? Could someone please explain this to me in terms an ignorant moron could get?

Hello, gay trans man here! Despite popular belief, gender & sexuality are independent of each other & have little to no influence on who you love. Your gender is how you feel about yourself & the gender roles society pushes on you, while sexuality is who you find attractive. A person doesn't choose their gender or sexuality. Being LGBTQ isn't fun. Would you call a butch lesbian a straight man? No, because she identifies as a woman! Her genitals are irrelevant, & it would be exactly the same if she was a trans lesbian.

Give your mom a big hug and tell her you love her and that that will never change

Nothing wrong with you kid :) There is a difference between being delusional and "seeing boobs that aren't there" in a visual hallucination, and being trans- with eyes that work just fine and a mind that works just fine. It's a little hard to describe but there is a distinction. There is also further distinction between trans who are homosexual/bi/asexual and trans who are straight. You'll figure out who you are, if you don't know already- there are many many nuances to the human mind and metaphorical heart. You have my support in this matter :)

Pfff transgender. What a load of sh*t. You're born in the body you are born into. If you feel you're the opposite gender then you are mentally ill, period.

I don't care who you are, or what your life story is, but show some respect. This is not your life, your mind, or your decision to make. If you think it's b******t, good for you, keep it to yourself. You need to think through your words before you post them. You can keep your opinion, but don't s**t on people who think differently.
