I Paint Hyperrealistic Oil Paintings Of Strange Antiques That Never Existed

Alternative Artifacts is my latest series of hyperreal oil paintings which feature strange antiques that never existed. The bizarre objects stretch and bend the truth about our past in order to bring a focus on the deceptions going on in our world today.

The old and worn out objects have a surreal quality that are meticulously painted which causes the viewer to question the authenticity of what they are seeing. The antiques appear to be absurd but they are presented with such precise detail that their stories can almost be believed. This blurring of lines between what is real and what is not, reflects our present day where governments gaslight their own people, propaganda outlets pose as news organizations and social media networks spread conspiracy theories. These are the objects that never happened from a past that only exists in the Post Truth era.

The fact that these are paintings blow my mind! I can't believe how realistic they look. I am blown away. Also side note... the needle that's a drill? my nightmares now have a new topic.... thanks.

Wonderful and amazing work. Simply a great mind that can combine such items... Your Hadron typewriter bothers me in the implications of writing in elementary particle physics.... Not that I am complaining mind you but wouldn't the keys be the three realms of particles with each set of particles represented in those realms (low, medium and high energy)? Just a thought, observation and complete geek out.

Thank you, my thought was that when you press a key and it enters the center of the typewriter, it approaches the speed of light, after that, I have no idea, lol. It was actually the first one I did in the series and it is about how something like the Hadron Collider is only possible because of the centuries of scientists who wrote down their discoveries and passed them down.

they are oil paintings so there is a lot of drying time in between layers but if you take that out of consideration they are anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks of work

These are beautifully done. They feel almost like tromp l'oeil. You have a fan. Oh, I mean I'm a fan. I'm not asking if there is a fan. If there was a fan, I'd like to see that too.

Nice work! Now we need somebody to make these in real life. I would try the skates.

Fabulous stuff, Jeff. The details are extraordinary, photographic, HYPER. (I'll admit, I've taken acid a few times.) Would you call these 'mashup's? Just curious.

Arguably, even if these were real, they wouldn't be considered an antique. I think someone just needs to get a computer instead. Most people who buy paintings do so for the artists interpretation etc. they don't buy paintings to look 'real' that's what photos are for. It's impressive, but there's a very small market for this. I'd pay $20...and that's being generous.

Yes you can see those paintings are HYPERREAL, not just real, not super real, not photoreal, but super uber unbelievable hyperreal. Gawd that term is so over used.

Hyperrealism is the name of the art movement (like Impressionism or Cubism) it's not meant as a description.
