114 Hilarious Reactions To Hurricane Ophelia By Irish People That Prove They’re The Craziest Country Ever
Had enough hurricanes yet this year? Too bad, because Hurricane Ophelia has arrived, and she's giving Ireland the old one-two. Luckily, the Irish are a resilient folk, and their Twitter reactions to this fearsome storm make it crystal clear.
As they say in Ireland, here's the craic; whipping winds are wreaking havoc on the island nation, and have left 3 people dead so far and thousands without power. The whole country is on lockdown, with schools closed, buses cancelled, and even several grocery stores with valuable storm preparation goods (chips, beer, etc.) shuttered in anticipation of what one Twitter has deemed 'The Great Irish Trampoline Migration of 2017.' However, even a natural disaster like Ophelia isn't strong enough to damage the Irish spirit - and, evidently, their collective sense of humor.
Scroll down to see the best tweets to come from both the storm's build-up and commencement, and as always, stay safe and heed all advice from authorities if in the area.

she'll agree but first she'll whoop his a*s on principle.
Load More Replies...I love this. I'm going to put one up in my front yard. Its perfect for WTX weather.
We do that in Australia especially in the outback, with a piece of string. If the string is swinging it is windy, if it is wet it is raining. if it is dead still it is going to be a really hot day.
This isn't just an Irish thing. I see these everywhere (in Britain) and they always make me smile!
My cousin from the UK sent me a yarn (worm) with the same saying. It works.
Friend of mine has acquired a greenhouse in this manner (so if anyone in Antrim is missing a plastic and metal one give us a shout).
When I was in the military and stationed in the Philippines the place would get pounded with a lot of hurricanes. Typhoons actually but they are the same thing. The rains and winds were awful.
Haha. Gotta have your priorities. Sine I am Italian I would want red wine and pasta.
How many food workers are thinking this exact same thing? I wonder if there is a rush to get toilet paper, like here in the states? I guess bad weather just brings things out!
a really nice crazy people i m includins this contry in my next tour i live in brazil see u
This is anyone in the world who gets a day off for whatever reason, not just Irish people.
We in the USA don't say lads enough. We need to make this a thing. Who's with me?
I mean the USA stole every other word from different countries, so it would fit right in!

Same happened to me when "the worst hurricane ever in history" Patricia didn't show up
"First things first" is an important idiom in the English language. Or so I am told.
And here I am thinking it meant "For F**k's Sake"
Load More Replies...I had four customers ask me why we didn't have air-conditioning for our outdoor porch/dining area. Collecting leaves before a hurricane makes sense to me! :)
well if it was their day for collecting leaves thats it, cant change council rules!
They probably save them for later so that they can donate them to all the trees who lost theirs because of Ophelia. ;-)
As someone who has been through her share of hurricanes (good riddance, Harvey!), I suspect this was done to prevent the drainage system from being overwhelmed. Just sayin'. :P
Can some one explain this-- don't down vote me, my funny goggles must not be working
Ophelia is spelled wrong, it's an education joke.
Load More Replies...It's "should have". Read more, comment and tweet less. That's 4th grade stuff.
Load More Replies...Those are our "law-abiding, RESPONSIBLE" gun owners so obviously shooting at hurricanes is a responsible thing to do.
Nope, those are the morons who make the rest of us look bad. And, there's no stats on how many were not legal owners.
Load More Replies...😂😂😂 well s**t, I'm an American myself but she does have a good point lol.

I'm sure tales will be told for generations about the terrible troubles caused by Ophelia!
A lot of Irish must have emmigrated to Australia... I see a lot of similarities here lol
"we NEED to hear that story" - literally everyone who is not from ireland

Load More Replies...I was out in the middle of this yesterday with three Canadians. ....They're crazy too..!
Am I allowed to laugh at this joke? Or is it "too soon" for the gun-people?
I think they are saying this specifically because people were literally shooting at the hurricane, and the mayor had to tell them to stop.
Load More Replies...I'm American and I don't understand the shooting at hurricane references. We don't shoot hurricanes, we shoot each other!
That isn't funny. You are the reason why Americans have a bad rep.... First you say "I'm American",and then say something stupid. Thank you for your contribution to the stereotypical American. We are making strides everyday in the wrong direction.
Load More Replies...I'd like to point out that the majority of Americans did NOT shoot at the hurricane. Just the nut jobs.
i like that idea, its gonna beat us up regardless, might as well deserve it!
Whoever did this one deserves a medal. I laughed so hard I scared my cat!
This works on so many levels....How is this not getting more up votes?
But , but Father....we was just blown together and had to hold on for our lives.
It's official, we(the US) truly are the entertainment for the rest of the world! 😕
I'm sorry to say this, but you just figured this out now?
Load More Replies...WBC is probably still trying to figure out which state Ireland is in.
No, he'll just try to scam your government to pay 1000x whatever damage his properties incur.
If trumpster comes to Ireland to check out damage to his golf courses, will you please keep hm? Please in the name f the Baby Jesus!⛪️
Trump toilet paper aka "Executive Orders" are en route. Hang in there!
he throws so much here USA we ran out of rolls. sorry have a pint and a Jameson take care
His little arm is tired, I doubt he has the strength these days. Sorry bout that.........
This looks like a serious kitchen. This person could cook up a good meal while drinking the whiskey.
Dude has 2 spatulas, 1 can opener, 1 pair of scissors and 800 knives hanging on the wall. WTF? You don't throw knives in a hurricane. You shoot at them. I know, I'm Floridian!
I'm worried about all those knives coming loose and blowing around in the wind...
If only that kitchen had drawers! A friend of mine lives in an older home, and there is ONE drawer in the entire kitchen. That's it.
Load More Replies...Damn straight, really the only things you need for any type of weather.
I thought the Irish were just eccentric until I saw this picture. Whiskey and candy bars? They're bat s**t crazy.
Actually Butler's Irish makes delicious jameson whiskey ttuffle bars.
Load More Replies...I can’t upvote this one enough! We (americans) are a laughing stock due to a few lol 😂
Don't take yourselves so seriously (that's an American trait I'd say). God gave us all a sense of humor to be lighthearted and joyful. You make fun of us and we return the favor and a good time is had by all.
Load More Replies...Pictures of a few idiots shooting @ the wind and the entire United States is judged . P.S. I don't know anyone that senseless.

Load More Replies...Not shooting a hurricane is pretty reckless, but so is mixing water and electricity.
Load More Replies...love this guy in his wife's house coat, shoeless while the neighbour takes a photo
He should be careful wearing the bath robe! That wind could blow right up his....
Trust me ... it'll still blow away . I have chased my trash can down the street with 55mph winds
I'm sorry, but the pictures in my head are hilarious 😂😂😂
Load More Replies...I wish trampoline people would learn to just flip the damned things over before a storm! The wind can't catch it and blow it around if the jumping mat is flat against the ground...
Love, love, LOVE the uuuuhh robe? Housecoat?? In NOLA it’d definitely be a housecoat, hysterical!
Well, better throw a sheet on, leave yer shoes and go get it then...
Personally I like it, it's based off of a woman from shakespeare. Gotta admit, though, it's kind of heartless because the Ophielia died from drowning 😐 So that's where the names from 👍 NOW YOU KNOW
Load More Replies...no... she is just making good use of the moment.. it' will blow over..
According to a US weather map I saw in the Independent Ophelia is going to stop dead at the N Irish border so clearly all the fears about what will happen to the border failed to take account of Brexit's magical hurricane stopping abilities. Maybe this is how we'll keep the economy going after Brexit - we can sell the magical hurricane repelling border technology to Florida and Texas.
Load More Replies...Keep the trash from blowing everywhere is my guess!
Load More Replies...In this case, "what the craic is with it?" means "what the deal is with it?", but "What's the craic?" means "what's up?", "That's some good craic": "that's good fun", "Any craic?": "any news?", "that lad is some craic":"this gentleman is the soul of the party", etc.
Load More Replies...The real fun comes after the storm. Sorting through the new stuff to keep or try to sell off for money.
Ah don't worry, POTUS will throw some out in a gushy.
Load More Replies...In the U. S. we have a video of a dog carrying a 20lb. bag of kibble home after a hurricane in New Orleans. That's a dog that knows his priorities.
Better than your government, nay, your president not knowing you're part of the country lol
Or still better, not even knowing your president of a certain province.
better late then never.... it's the tea breaks you know, that slow things down...
If they can't make tea during a power cut, are they even a real Irish mam and gran??
How did I get into a discussion on Pompeii, Pliny the Younger/Elder, Vesuvius and London skies? Oh, yes #Ophelia - wonderful thing The Internet! #Ophelia, your breaking my heart. ..........etc. I can't sing

Tayto is the perfect brand name for potato chips!! I love it! Was wondering why they were so excited about two delivery trucks, one self-explanatory Guinness, and the other was a Tayto truck!!
Lol. It's accurate, not only because of Ireland, but because the land between Yorkshire and Edinbugh is apparently a no man's land devoid of settlement...
On the day WW1 started my local gazette headline was 'Drunken Gypsy arrested driving cart'. (Found filling a crack in my wall)
we we can all drink some tea and wonder about if it will rain orange juice
well i wonder what texas has to say about our ophelia:D it was like a light rain in comparison
i swear we were all up until 5 am talking on facebook with random irish people how worried we are :D
You aren't truly prepared for a storm until you have more bread, eggs, and milk than you can finish before it spoils. Especially when the power goes out and your fridge gets warm.
These annoy me. It's not a cultural thing. Did they not see the devastation from storms like Katrina? Americans aren't panicking...but absolutely, brag about being unprepared.
You need to realize that there are differences though. For one, European houses are almost always made of sturdy materials like brick, concrete etc, not of wood like American houses. That's why you won't see whole neighborhoods wiped out by winds, bar a roof or a wall that may come down here and there.
Load More Replies...As an Irish descendent in America, I can appreciate the bit about the wooden spoon!!! It made the boat to the USA, as I am a witness!!
I'm just cracking up imagining what she's saying.
Load More Replies...Ah ok! That's quite a bit more recent. I hadn't realized there had been such a leak in the UK. You learn somethin' new every day.
Load More Replies...Never know when you're going to need a saw for your loaf of bread, though I did have a piece of toast the other day that I saved in case I need sandpaper and am all out.
I dunno...I'm really thinkin" the Irish can handle it...hahaaa....I'm 40% Irish...can I come live there????
ours didn't fall over either still wondering what all the fuss was about
Load More Replies...Seriously normal to put the bins out here, nor matter how hard the wind is blowing.

Load More Replies...She refused to distribute until after a "photo" op!! Our President Trump saved us from the NWO, Globalists, tyranny, open borders, etc. Try finding a credible news source for the U.S.A. We know that you will have trouble bc we have a huge mainstream media which is ONLY used for propaganda. Reminds us of hitlers propaganda bc they follow the same step-by-step instructions as hitler did. Have a great day and stop being puppets, please!!
Rico, had all of their needed supplies thrown into garbage dumpsters so they can "claim" people were dying bc of our President Trump. We know this for a fact bc online videos showed us the proof by citizens that have lived there forever. We also had a journalist with a Puerto Rican bloodline fly there and showed all of us the truth. There's even a video with the mayor boo hooing about not enough supplies while right behind her is tons of supplies that s
What a bunch of socialists that are more ignorant than our demoncrap politicians! Apparently Ireland must only have one news channel with "fake news" all the time. For one, Puerto Rica was swamped with food, clean water, diapers, formula, etc. by the tons from our FEMA, which stands for Federal Emergency Management Association. Where the problem was, due to the leftists bent on using deaths as political propaganda, their mayor IN Puerto
Trust us world, we get it. Approval ratings in the high 30's most of the time.
Just you keep watching the "propaganda" news channels!!!

And what else? Nothing!! As hurricanes go, it was a massive let down. Well in Dublin it was!!
We have seen a documentary, here in the states, about Buckfast and I have been wanting one, ever since. Why doesn't that company ship worldwide!?? :) :)
The stop sign one was a faked-up meme after the event. Still fun though.
Load More Replies...I know exactly how you feel. I'd like to introduce my Irish friends to one Tom Skilling. He's a national treasure.

#proud to be irish. bunch of crazy gits the home land makes. but in be damned if i didn't love their spirit and humor.
ah sure f**k it, as long as there is a few cans in the fridge and some grub in the house we will be grand, I was a bit dissapointed with this hurricane TBH didnt even get to race around looking for candles, powers was only off for 2 hrs. wife had a lovely stew ready though so we were sorted ;) cant beat a solid concrete built house. plus there is a shite load of trees down so thats the fire wood sorted for the winter ;)
I'm stressing about going to work, while Irish people are laughing at a hurricane that's coming towards them... I should take the Irish as inspiration source for remaining positive.
WOO HOO! *insert stereotypical Irish saying here* as a cork (down the bottom of the country) man myself, I can personally tell you that these are all something we would do.
Funny creative mind that I love..... I just know one in person in my country who acts like them :)...Hope they are ok...
