$1M House With Creepy Floor Stains Revealed To Have “Interesting History”

Trigger warning: potential crime scene photos

Questionable stains exposed in photographs featured on a house’s listing baffled social media users, with many claiming that the property had been a horrific crime scene prior to being put on the market.

Taking to the Zillow Gone Wild Reddit community earlier this month, a Redditor posted pictures of a house with wood flooring partially covered in maroon stains reminiscent of dried blood.

Highlights
  • Photos of a $1M house with creepy floor stains sparked speculation of a crime scene on Reddit.
  • A Redditor tied the house at 1345 Ward Street to past incidents, including a child's death in the 1920s.
  • Social media users joked about the stains, with one suggesting the previous owner made cranberry juice.

“Whaddya suppose happened here,” the Reddit user captioned their post.

The post attracted quite a lot of fellow Redditors, with one joking: “Realtor: ‘Nothing to see here folks. Let me show you the kitchen.

“‘Oh, that?! Um, the previous owner made cranberry juice for a living.'”

Another person asked: “I like that one board was removed but they left all the rest of the stained boards. Like how bad was that one board?”

To which someone else responded: “The board had bullets embedded in it and was removed to be taken to the crime lab.”

A Reddit user speculated: “If I had to guess, they had a remediation company come in to do bio cleanup, and insurance wanted a sample of the flooring.

“Took the ACV (property insurance) cash out and selling the home.”

Someone commented: “Should check under that board ’cause I’m betting there’s a body down there.”

A separate individual chimed in: “Some of that blood was there long enough to warp boards. That has to smell.”

The house in question was built in 1932 and is currently for sale for $979,000. As per its Zillow listing, the property is located at 1345 Ward Street, Berkeley, California, USA.

The 1,723-square-foot wooden house features five bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a lovely little garden.

People suggested the house had undergone a bio cleanup and discussed insurance claims

“Two homes on one parcel,” the Zillow listing describes. “Live in one and keep the renters in the other.”

The description further states: “Many original features that need to be updated.

“Bring your creative talents and turn this house into your home.

“Near San Pablo park and everything Berkeley. Buyer must be accompanied by Realtor to view.”

The humble abode seemingly offers great potential with the appropriate refurbishment; however, certain photographs included in the ad are undeniably chilling.

Namely, in pictures 16, 17, 19, 21, 26, 27, and 28, inexplicable discoloration and presumed blood smudges remarkably stand out.

A Redditor pointed to an eerie history linked to the exact same address despite failing to find evidence of “a recent murder.

“But I found that in the 1920’s there was a 14-month-old who was taken to the hospital and later found to have a fractured skull and broken arm,” the Reddit user highlighted.

Speculation on Reddit suggested that the removed boards likely contained bullets and were taken for forensic analysis

A 1925 Oakland Post Enquirer article reported on the child’s death “at 1345 Ward Street.” As the new listing mentioned that the house was built in 1932, it can be assumed that the incident happened on the demolished property.

A year prior, a 15-year-old boy living at the same address was reported missing, as reported in May 1924 by The Oakland Post Enquirer.

The same news outlet reported in 1934 that four “youngsters” broke into the house and were later caught in a “$12 theft raid.”

In 1939, the Oakland Post reported that the car, house, and garage on the seemingly doomed address were destroyed in a fire.

In 1943, police arrested a person for burglary on 1345 Ward Street, the Oakland Post reported.

Each crime, as well as the disappearance, supposedly happened at the same location under different homeowners.

Bored Panda has contacted Michael Stephens from Corcoran Icon Properties, who manages the property’s listing, for comment.

“RIP previous occupant,” a reader commented

less than 1800 sq. feet and the thick end of a million dollars even after someone was murdered there. How does anyone afford to live in CA?

could you imagine doing that in Europe? Yes, this is the spot where ten people from the French Underground were kil1ed by a firing squad. Over here is a fire fight as the Allied Forces tried to take this bridge over the Rijn. Very scenic! Here? Oh well, that's where troops were pinned down, but Anzio views are spectacular!

I just want to know the price, because I'm SURE that even in that awful condition and with a body under the blood soaked floor l STILL couldn't afford it.
