Bored Hotel Guest Starts Making “Challenges” For Housekeepers, And They Respond With These Notes

As anybody who frequently travels for work will tell you, business trips can be kind of boring. You’re stuck in a hotel for days on end, often eating and drinking and sleeping alone, unless of course you want to hang out with the other people on your business trip, which let’s face it, you probably don’t.

But one traveler, who was recently staying in a hotel in Azerbaijan, came up with a creative way to beat the boredom without having to resort to awkward breakfasts with colleagues. He started to use his pillows and sheets to make all sorts of weird and wonderful creations in his room, and as you can see, his antics certainly made the housekeeper smile! She left him a friendly note whenever he made something, and their game continued throughout his time at the hotel until he ended it with one last sweet surprise for her. (h/t: 22words)

A bored business traveler found a creative way to have fun in his room recently

And as you can see, he certainly made the housekeeper smile

The following day he left her this smiley face

The housekeeper remade the bed

And left him this note : D

The next day she found this monster!

Followed by this

And whatever this is

She let the guest know what she thought of his creativity

But the man didn’t stop there

Once again the housekeeper left him a friendly note

The following day she encountered this!

And one day she walked straight in on a man hard at work in his dressing gown!

The man clearly made the housekeeper’s day

Especially when she walked in one morning to find this waiting for her

Isn't that Cute, and with a nice ending no less. But even more remarkable is that in Azerbaijan, the housekeeper was able to reply in English, and take professional pictures of the complete sequence. ;D

I don't think that's so unusual, given that she's working in a hotel and probably meets lots of international guests. You know, they also teach english in schools in Azerbaijan.

And I thought I was creative and attentive, in my business travelling days, to leave little drawings, snacks from my home country and notes in the maid's native language to thank them and wish them a lovely day (compliments to Google Translate and Babelfish)

That's so funny and the goodbye heart with candy is a very sweet touch. She will probably remember this a long time.

I stayed at a hotel in Seattle a few years ago, where the housekeeping staff created these little towel piglets! IMG_6861-5...04058d.jpg IMG_6861-59012eb04058d.jpg

We always leave the maid $5 every morning before we go out to sightsee. At the end of our stay we leave $10. We don't know if we have the same maid every day but we had family members who cleaned offices and hotel rooms. So we feel like we are giving back to women like our mother.

This was so nice and fun! I hope he had the same maid every day--and I THINK he did-- it was great to leave that nice basket at the end. I would loved to have seen a photo of the person who did this. It clearly was a woman, hahaha--- no man would be that creative, hahahahahahahaha.

Hotel housekeepers have a pretty boring job and find all kinds of unpleasantness. It's also physically grueling. Many times the traveler doesn't bother to leave a tip. This traveler made his housekeeper's week! It's not difficult to be kind.

Me and my husband did this every time we stayed at the hotel :). It was a creativity challenge with the housekeeper :). So I guess we weren't alone with this idea.

Great. A bored guest does stuff for his own amusement which creates work for underpaid housekeeping staff. Thought at the end he might give her something that she could use, like cash. Instead, she gets some candy bars (or something, hard to tell.) Creative, yes. Also self-indulgent.
