Residents Exchange Vows In Front Of Hospital Staff After Their Wedding Gets Canceled Due To Coronavirus

The coronavirus is messing up our plans big time. B-days, vacations, and other exciting things are canceled. Imagine your big day is canceled too. I mean, no wedding dress, no cake, no vows. Just you, your other half, and eternal PJs.

But these two quarantined lovebirds ain’t ditching their dream that easily. Shelun Tsai and Michael Sun exchanged their vows in an improvised “wedding” ceremony staged at the OB/GYN department of Duke University Hospital. Of course, there had to be some alterations made. The groom attended the ceremony via Zoom, just like the friends and families who cheered the newly “wed” couple along the way. Staff members dressed as bridesmaids and the bride looked stunning in a hand-crafted gown inspired by the medical setting. When love is in the air, there’s no place left for viruses!

Duke OB/GYN Resident Dr. Shelun Tsai and her fiancé Dr. Michael Sun decided to commemorate their wedding day that was canceled due to the crisis at the Duke Birthing Center. The two New Yorkers, who met in college, have now postponed their official wedding date to October.

But Tsai was over the moon for her commemorative ceremony. “It was absolutely amazing.” She told ABC News that it was particularly touching to see her colleagues care “so much about us and the things that mean so much to us.” While Duke medical staff takes care of patients every day, moments like this are truly moving. “We’re always so thoughtful and love what we do,” Tsai praised her colleagues.

Congrats to the couple of course!! I seriously mean it, however.... Shouldn't they still be distancing themself?? Especially hospital staff members. I know it's something they felt doing for their coworker/ friend, but the virus doesn't care if their is a wedding ceremony taking place.
