The horror movie “Late Night with the Devil” managed to not just spook its audience but also raise eyebrows with an eerily precise figure in its earnings.
The film, which nestled into sixth place at the box office with a total haul of $2.8 million, achieved a spine-chilling milestone by earning exactly $666,666 on Sunday, reports said.
This number, often associated with the “number of the beast” in popular culture and religious texts, added an extra touch of horror to the flick’s success.

Produced by IFC Films and released on March 22, the movie is about a “live television broadcast in 1977 [that] goes horribly wrong, unleashing evil into the nation’s living rooms,” according to the movie’s official website.
“This weekend’s release of ‘Late Night With the Devil’ set fire to our old opening record,” Scott Shooman, head of AMC Networks Films, which includes the brand IFC, told Variety. “[It] continues to showcase that there is still potential for highly reviewed, intelligent auteur films in movie theaters across all genres.”

The horror film stars David Dastmalchian as talk show host Jack Delroy, Ingrid Torelli playing a demonically possessed 13-year-old girl, and Laura Gordon, who plays parapsychologist and author Dr. June Ross-Mitchell.
“We knew from the first material we introduced into the market that we had something really special and people were kind of gravitating to the concept of the film early on,” Scott told Deadline.
