“Home Of Peculiar Artists” Welcomes All Kinds Of “Misunderstood” Creators And Here Are 50 Of Their Most Precious Works
InterviewCreating unique art can be fulfilling for several reasons. For one, it allows an artist to express themselves in a way that is truly authentic and personal. The act of creating something that is special can be a form of self-expression and self-discovery.
Additionally, creating peculiar art can be fulfilling because it allows an artist to challenge themselves to think outside the box and push the boundaries of what is possible.
The Facebook group "Home for Peculiar Artists" is a vibrant community of people who share a passion for the unique and unusual. Here, members showcase their one-of-a-kind creations, ranging from sculptures made of found or recycled materials to digital art with a surreal twist.
The group is also a marketplace for these said creations, with many artists offering their pieces for sale. It's a great opportunity for art lovers to discover new and exciting artists and to own a piece of art that is truly unique.
Also, make sure to keep an eye out for an interview with Ricky Dampers who is the artist behind the artwork "Agape love" which was featured in the post!

Medium: Recycled cardboard boxes, paper bags, wood and glue.
Like many of you, we accumulate tons of boxes from shipments of online purchases. The forms are all made from cut boxes and the surface is covered with torn bits of paper bags. This sculpture was created without making paper pulp. It's all just cut cardboard assembled using hot glue and Elmer's glue. It was built from the inside out starting with basic forms made from cardboard and layering on the musculature and then the fur.
Bored Panda reached out to Ricky Dampers, a self-taught wildlife artist, who shared his background and inspiration for his art during the interview. "I started drawing when I was 12 years old, at that time I used to draw cartoons, then as time went by I developed some love for wildlife and animals in general because I used to watch wildlife documentaries on the National Geographic channel," he said. "So I changed from being a cartoon artist to a wildlife artist thanks to the inspiration I got from watching wildlife documentaries.”

He went on to describe the process and techniques he uses to achieve such lifelike details in his artwork. "Speaking about the process and techniques, well, firstly, I outline my subjects using freehand, then, I shade using charcoal pencils and charcoal powder to create the 3-dimensional illusion. To create texture, I use a pencil eraser and white charcoal for highlights," he shared.

When it comes to choosing the subjects for his drawings, Ricky explained that he usually chooses something eye-catching. "I usually love drawing endangered animals as a way of appreciating them," he told Bored Panda.
One particularly challenging piece he worked on was a drawing of cuddling zebras. "The most challenging piece for me to draw was the cuddling zebras because it was my first time drawing something like that," he said. "However, I managed to draw them well and they got many likes compared to all my other artwork."
I created this stained glass art piece from a doodle my nephew did. I named it, “I’m So Happy I Could Puke.” I gifted it to my nephew when he bought his first home several years ago. I no longer do stained glass due to health reasons.
Hi everyone!
Here's a new balloon oil painting!
...does this count as a self portrait?

Ricky also discussed his plans for the future of his work, saying "I am planning to do some mixed-media wildlife art where I will be mixing charcoal and other mediums to create unique artworks!"
He also talked about how his art reflects the world and society around him, "My art reflects the world around me in the sense that I capture the beauty of wildlife with my pencils and then present it to the world. Some people don't have the access to visit game parks but through my artworks, I hope they will be able to appreciate the beauty of wildlife and animals," he said.

Description: Finally got around to taking some photos of this piece “In This Hallowed Place” to show the size comparison! It’s rather large, and the frame only adds to it 🥰✨ I love seeing artists with their pieces, I hope you do too!
In particular, Ricky discussed a piece from his portfolio titled "Agape love" (the 1st submission in this article), which is a drawing of three cuddling zebras. "I drew a piece of the 3 cuddling zebras, I titled it 'Agape love' given its composition as it represents family love. Family plays a great role in our daily lives, as we are blessed with things such as physical care, socialization, and of course, emotional support. To be honest, I was inspired by my emotions and society in general when making the drawing." he explained.

Creator: Me Medium: Crochet Wow once again the followers of this page have blown me away with their support. Thank you all so much for your lovely words. If you want to see more of my work check out my page Not Just For Nanas or my Instagram. I’ll be posting there as I have new pieces available and when I am able to ship internationally but for now I’ll just be sharing photos of crochet things that I love to make. I’m a UK based crochet maker. I love to use vintage doily patterns and create modern wall art but sometimes I go off piste and turn them into these parasols. They are a perfect festival accessory or wedding photo prop. Although I like to take one just to walk the dog.

Just finished up an applewood bowl. It was so rotten. It took a ton of work to repair this thing and bring it back to life. How do you think it looks?
I made this reclaimed oak herringbone bench last year. I used a jade wood stain on the mountains after it was all glued up and taped off to make them pop a bit.
Good! Beautiful! And finally something I could do, too (son and grandson of carpenters/cabinetmakers).

Description: crochet yipyips using blanket yarn, pingpong balls for eyes, and pipe cleaners for antenna. I have been making these like crazy as I have a million orders for Christmas stockings for this year. They can be hung up as they have a loop to do so, or they can sit on a flat surface. I love making them but certain yarn colours have been difficult to find! Full rainbow sets have been so popular.

My very first leaded stained glass panel has been installed into a door and delivered to New Hampshire!! What an absolute thrill when you get to see months of hard work come together and light up the room.
Original design, over 400 pieces, 5/32" lead came, 35.5" x 27". Took about 8 months from starting the concept drawing to delivery. This was my first time working with lead, first installation piece, and first time making anything anywhere near this big!

Oooooh... how creative! You've inspired some work on my walking staffs... had been in a bit of rut but your art is inspiring.
Really skilled. Very creative and I love the idea of painting fungi on wood, instead of wood being left to decompose and growing it. Perhaps I haven't worded that well, it seems like a beautiful counterpart or rejection of what happens in nature.
I’ve seen someone post their cat tree and it inspired me to post mine! My fiancé and I made this together, our boy (Gryphon, the cat) LOVES IT!

I feel like this FB group doesn't understand the definition of "peculiar" and thinks it's synonymous with unique. It isn't, exactly. "Peculiar" carries an element of the strange, and I thought only one thing on this list was a little strange. It was mostly a collection of fantastically unique and creative art - any of which I'd love to have!
Its great to see that there is still so much creativity especially when its more stuff like this
I had the exact same thought! So amazing to see such a diverse and lovely display of creativity!
Load More Replies...Looking at these wonderful creations saddens me a great deal as I have no discernible talent of any kind.
Yes, I wish I had 1% of the talent they have, amazing pieces
Load More Replies...i was devistated when i saw there where no fursuits, BUT BESIDES THE POINT OMFG
Thanks for this, I've just joined the group, there are some amazing crayons!!!
Do you think it’s useless to try to do something creative because you’re nowhere near as good as these people? Remember what the late great Kurt Vonnegut said: “The arts (…) are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow“
You know, being creative enough to even come up with each of these is something to really be proud of!! THEN to execute your creativeness is just beyond beautiful, in my humble opinion. I am truly proud of every single one of you.
I really enjoyed this ! Unique art! Now I'm off to hopefully find me a macaroni and cheese snake bowl!
I will that all of these creators of these beautiful and excellent art should be prepared for orders to create more!
Wow. These are pretty phenomenal. I haven't an artistic bone in my body but so wish I did...
Eeee my brain is just dissolving with excitement, looking at all this beautiful stuff makes me so incredibly happy. I need them all!
