You created something very lovely! It looks like it took many hours of meticulous work! How long did it take? Would you do it again?

Since its creation in 2011, more than 466K members have joined this online group, proudly sharing their projects and giving out tips and tricks to help others with theirs. Whether it’s putting a little something on the shelf, doing a small bathroom remodel or a huge house makeover, there’s plenty of stunning home transformations out there.

For many people, home decor starts with a few new pieces, others may go to greater lengths and repaint their walls but members of the Home Decorating subreddit go all in, doing complete makeovers of their dusty old rooms and awakening the DIYers in us. Even if you’re not looking for inspiration for your own project, it’s at least a feast for the eyes.

According to a survey by OnePoll on behalf of Puffy, more than 70% U.S. residents were planning to make a significant change in their home decor. It may not have happened by choice, since the pandemic lockdowns and lack of activities left loads of time for thinking and inspiring people to invest in makeover projects.

More than 2000 people were surveyed and asked about their plans, styles and decor pieces they were thinking to get for their future dwellings. While one could guess that the desire to make such changes comes from the “new normal” of working remotely, adding new functions to people’s homes was not the top reason for redecorating, nor was the change of scenery.

People started to crave more luxurious items and wished to create a safe refuge from the chaos around them. The majority of the respondents said that when it comes to decor, they underline the importance of coziness. Many are planning to do that by incorporating both timeless and modern elements into their interior—smart furniture (34%), natural elements (31%) and colorful statement art (28%).

A rod like that can be a huge space saver! I once lived in a 250' studio, and of course the kitchen had totally inadequate cupboard space, too little to fit my pots and pans. So I put a horizontal rod in a gap, bought some S-hooks, and hung all my pots and pans from it! Almost as good as a pegboard, but smaller and easier.

Whether your home is due for an update or you just want to breathe new life into your space, there are lots of creative decor trends and styles to try out. If you’re planning to take your project to a whole new level in the upcoming year, there’s a few tips to consider before designing your room.

First, remember that you’re not going to complete transforming the entire room, not to mention the house, overnight. Avoid buying things like a whole furniture set that would only result in your place looking cluttered. Don’t try to make your room look like something from a furniture store catalogue and remember that it should be unique, look natural and reflect on who you are as a person.

Wonderful and it is finished - the effect of the leaves trailing off into a white void is art. If you complete it all the way to the ceiling, it'll lose the lovely uniqueness and randomness you have given it. Less is more :)

Much improved. This isn't a criticism but I think in the future we'll be able to look at a photo like this and tell it was taken in the 2020s, the decade when everything was painted white, just like when we see burnt orange and shag carpeting we think of the 1970s. Interesting how taste changes over time.

Next, if you decide on a theme, don’t overdo it. Thinking of a concept for your room is a good idea but it’s easy to go overboard with it. If you wish that your room would have a tropical mood, getting wallpaper, sheets, rugs or even furniture with little palm trees on them might result in it resembling a bizarre theme park.

Remember that trends have a tendency to come and go. It’s better to keep the theme subtle and include little decor pieces that could be easily changeable in the future. This also helps to make sure that your room does not end being monotonous and unoriginal. After all, personalized room decor is exciting to see, so don’t be afraid to experiment with it.

Most importantly, don’t rush into buying all of the furniture, fluffy pillows and little knick-knacks in one day, especially if you’re on a budget. It’s best to get the statement pieces first and see how it feels to have them. Then, take time to choose the accessories you think would serve both function and aesthetics, and let the interior grow over time.

Soooo much lost storage. Plus I always have to worry about my entire house being tidy. I don't want to have to make sure my kitchen storage looks company worthy all the time. My dishes don't even match. It does LOOK better. Just not sure about the functionality.

Beaitiful!!! Great change in the living room! And opening the view. However, for the other storage I don't know... on one hand, it looks wider and beautiful on the pic, on the other hand, where do you put now all things? I haven't much space and I'm quite messy. I try to have a place for everything but open exposed things get dirty easyly and they don't match colours and style anymore.

I loved the old floor so much better. Do not like open cabinets at all. My husband just put cabinet tops on our existing cabinets that didn't reach the ceiling bc I was tired of cleaning them.

Painting the brick fire wall behind the wood stove, losing the (plaid) café curtains, lifting the carpet, and painting the walls -- it's not a huge commitment like a remodel, but the overall effect is stunning. I like the light colored sofas, especially the one below the windows (replacing the DARK buffet/console/ chest/ whatever you call it).

So does the sleeping loft. I'm interested in tiny houses, if I can ever find a place it's legal to put one, and my absolute first decision was that I can't have a sleeping loft. I'm getting older, and it's just too risky.

Move the table candles further towards the center of the table. They are too close to the wall and can 1) leave black marks on the wall and 2) cause the wall to catch fire. (I learned this the hard way!)

Yeah not tiny at all, also seems like a totally humble brag because of how much retan furniture there is. Even thrifted this stuff is expensive.

I get you. We have a set up just like this, and put our sofa facing our nice windows, shoving our TV into the corner where it's not so noticeable. We really didn't want our backs to the view.

I've always felt uncomfortable having the sofa placed where someone can be behind me (with back to window or even placed in middle of room). Same with bed where your head is far away from wall or "exposed" to the door when sleeping. Another thing: you never want to have a screen and window opposite of each other. It will become annoying during day time watching.

I wish they didn't put a loveseat in the bay window space. It would open up the room so much to have a smaller piece of furniture there and move the air conditioning unit somewhere else.

I'd have put soft benches there, which would look great but which wouldn't be as comfortable as the couch... so I can't fault the owners' decision there. But I love the room as a whole, it's very San Francisco Victorian, and I love San Francisco Victorian.

They’re not laminate just because they’re colored. There’s no way of telling from the photo if they’re laminate or veneers, and whether it’s with HDF, MDF or some other plyboard or what.

Looks fresh, clean and should be nice to sleep in this nice bedroom. It's to small to be used as an office or work place. Just to used to sleep in is what should be done in a bedroom. It's better to separate work from the sleeping quarters.

So the radiator and the fridge just disappeared? Had the area for the fridge completely redone to accommodate for the new stove and oven? I'm not saying these are different areas. But if it is, it's definitely not a "decor idea". It's a complete renovation.

Love they kept the parkay flooring, that was an accomplishment. Will need real cabinets , open shelves are a silly unsanitary trend.

They must have more cabinets elsewhere in the kitchen. I think that shelf is more for aesthetic value.

Nice looking, but almost everything is the same tone (except for the walls). If you want to do a monochromatic room, you need more variation to add depth. To me, this room is washed out.

It needs more green -- like maybe chair cushions and so on. The walls don't relate to anything else in the room -- and they even painted the dado rails and paneling! It would have been so much better if they hadn't done that.

The best commode is Kohler Gleam. It’s only $250 and it doesn’t have the side caps to cover those ugly thread bolts. So it’s super easy to keep clean. There are other similar toilets like that one but Gleam is both the cheapest and highest quality somehow.

This is just my opinion but if you use grey, then you need a bold or zingy colour to jazz it up. This lacks that necessary zing!

This humain has little respect or knowledge for animals. The fish is in a tiny round bowl which is not adequate for his kind. Round bowls used as aquariums are not healthy for fish of any kind. Fish do not swim none stop in circles, this will deform the fish's spine and he will get crazy. This cruel, as saying that caging dogs makes them feel safe is not true. I've lived with dogs since a child and never ever caged my dogs. My dogs were and are my family members. I always had one dog at a time. They shared my life and home with me,. They are very calm and nice to all living things. On top of it I love having a doggy for a bed compagnon.

Why have dogs to put them cages? Dogs need to live in packs, you're his pack family. Don't get dogs if you don't want them to live freely in your home. Dogs are not meant to be kept in cages. No animal or human enjoys living in prison cell.
