Lauren Harper is one of the tattoo artists who has done a Hocus Pocus tattoo. "I was very young when the movie was released," Harper told Bored Panda. "I didn't watch it until I was a little older, probably 7-10 years old but I remember loving it."

"I've always loved Halloween, so that was a large part of it. And of course, it's hilarious, these old witches come back in a modern-day setting and have no idea what's going on."

Harper was really stoked to do the tattoo. "The design was obviously inspired by the film, with the cat, bats in the sky, purple smoke, and the color of the house. [Me and the client] decided to go with a more Victorian-style house as opposed to the house from the movie to fit the coffin a little better and to have it be a little more original."

Interestingly, Leonardo DiCaprio was offered the lead role of Max, but declined it in order to pursue What's Eating Gilbert Grape even though he was offered "more money than I ever dreamed of."

"I don't know where the hell I got the nerve," he told Variety. "You live in an environment where you're influenced by people telling you to make a lot of money and strike while the iron's hot. But if there's one thing I'm very proud of, it's being a young man who was sticking to my guns."

Critics call Hocus Pocus "harmlessly hokey yet never much more than mediocre, ... a muddled family-friendly effort that fails to live up to the talents of its impressive cast." However, their 37% approval on Rotten Tomatoes is outweighed by the decent 71% audience score.
