I Started Drawing Little Comics To Wind Down After Work And Now I Can’t Stop (30 Pics)
Hey! I'm Marcel from Berlin, Germany. 29 years old (let's just not tell anybody that I'll turn 30 in just a couple of days, ok?).
For a big part of my life, I thought I should become an illustrator. I even studied illustration for less than a semester at some point. I quickly discovered that there's a big difference between doing something for fun and doing the same thing with the goal of it being a job. That made me stop drawing for a couple of years.
My urge to tell little stories never really went away so I recently started drawing again. Just for fun. I don't want it to be my job. It's not even supposed to make money in any form. I just want people to see my stuff and blow air out of their nose. A chuckle would be great but no pressure.
Not having any serious goals and just looking at this as a relaxing hobby gives me the freedom to not really have a concept for what I'm doing. There's just one thing I try to achieve: Post something new every day. That can be a silly pun, an actually decent joke, or a commentary on the latest episode of some TV series everyone is angry about.
My process of creating these comics is very low maintenance as well. Using my iPad Pro and Procreate, I just sit on my couch – enjoying time away from my desk – and alternate between rubbing my cat Gigabyte's belly and drawing.
Drawing is just a hobby for me and I love that I'm at a place where I don't want it to change into anything else.

Only when it's school book. If it's a book I WANT to read, the opposite is true.
