Parenthood is basically a life-long course in crisis management. You learn to deal with stormy tantrums and find the answers for every if and but. And no, they don't give a BA or MA just 'cause you’re good at it.

But it all pays off! You see, kids are full of things we no longer have as grown-ups. It’s brutal honesty and out-of-the-box ideas that turn them into little crazy geniuses. Luckily, these moms and dads have documented the zippy life of raising a kid and shared it on Twitter. Bored Panda has collected the best parenting tweets of April for some much-needed entertainment, which, I can’t say, was spoiling us in this last month. Psst! An extra batch with 30 parenting tweets from March is waiting here.

The lockdown has put virtually every parent with a kid under stress. Juggling work, homeschooling the kids, and the domestic life can be seriously draining. Bored Panda contacted parenting expert Dr. Laura Markham from Aha Parenting to find out how to maintain sanity during these days. She suggests “paring back your expectations and focusing on the most important things like helping your family stay healthy, supporting your child, and replenishing yourself.”

But it’s not only grown-ups who’re under stress. “Kids feel stressed because their whole world has suddenly changed and because parents are stressed,” explained Laura. It turns out, many children are having a hard time sleeping and they’re disappointed by missing out on all the things they took for granted, from playgrounds to seeing their friends.

I'm having to relearn everything that we never use in daily life. Like scalene triangles. I assured my son he only needed to retain that info for a minute because it will never be used again. Until he has kids and they need to learn it.

You fold all your clothes? Interesting concept... Mine is in a constantly rotating pile on/off the coach.

But Laura is positive that lockdown parenting can work. She suggests learning mindfulness to manage anxiety, helping children with conflict resolution skills, and spending one-on-one time daily with each child to strengthen the bond. “You didn't choose this particular marathon. But you're learning something about your own strength and how to support yourself to be your best.”

Most importantly, the parenting expert assures us that “you can come out of this crisis stronger and more emotionally fit.” Your children will look back at this time and say "It was the coronavirus pandemic, but our family had so much fun together; we got closer!" And that’s when you'll realize the lesson nobody asked for was the one we might have needed

Kids in a nutshell XD my son insisted his shirt had "back buttons" and was indeed the right way round, then casually changed his shirt not long thereafter for one "he liked better" (and this one had front buttons!)

I didn't think I could home school, ever and then my oldest had way too many troubles with school so I sucked it up and started homeschooling. Then my second oldest fell sick and there was no help for her so I started homeschooling her. AND then my third had issues with school so I now homeschool him. Three kids home all day, every day, never thought I could do it until I did ^_^

If he's that stubborn write an actual contract in words he gets. I had to do that with on of my nephew's. He tried to barter and I'd break out the contract. When he got older he tried to get stubborn at my place one night and I pulled the contract out, showing it to him. He couldn't believe I kept it. I couldn't believe he thought I'd throw that away. We're in re-negotiations at this moment in time.

We used to play a game called the eiderdown monster (an eiderdown is a blanket). Dad would be under it roaring etc, and me and my sister would scream and run around it trying to escape and to get it at the same time. Then one day my sister kicked the eiderdown monster, it went "oh s**t" and promptly died, never to return (apparently my sis hit him right in the wrong place XD)

Or get out of the car. Because you know they have to gather all the tiny toys they brought, find their shoes, put on said shoes, put down their toys because they need a free hand to hold on to something to hop out, pick out the toys again, drop at least one on the way to the front door....
