Memes are a surefire way to spark a conversation online. You can create visual content worth sharing on social media with clever wordplay and a fitting image.

It’s also why online communities like the Meme Life Facebook group remain relevant in today’s era of TikTok dance videos. Its 888,000 members keep the page alive with chuckle-worthy and relatable posts that best describe daily life.

We’ve picked some of the standouts from the deep well of posts about doom-scrolling, corny puns that tickle the funny bone, and questions that stir curiosity. Keep scrolling, and you may just find the exact meme that perfectly encapsulates your current state of emotions.

Memes have a staying power that has allowed them to outlive many internet trends that have come and gone. Even with the drastic switch in content creation these days, they still remain relevant. Why is that?

One possible reason is their impact on society. An article by the University of Westminster pointed out a meme’s ability to elicit emotions through a simple image and text. Greenpeace co-founder Bob Hunter called this concept a “mind bomb,” a photo that sends a strong message and urges action.

Greenpeace also used memes to make statements about the causes it promotes. Most of their posts covered misinformation about climate change and protecting the environment, which got the younger audience's attention.

Another possible reason for memes' longevity is their pop culture connection. Many of them include images of some of the biggest celebrities in the world. Remember crying Michael Jordan? How about Ron Burgundy’s famous catchphrase from the first Anchorman movie?

These famous faces have been used to express an emotion that everyone could always relate to, making these memes stand the test of time.

But what makes a meme so effective? Entertainment publishing entrepreneur Kit Chilvers attributes it to their shareability through humor, which brings people together.

In an interview with the New York Times, he pointed out how memes can make people feel like they belong to a tribe of like-minded individuals. Content creator Saint Hoax agrees, describing these images as "editorial cartoons for the internet age."

Saint Hoax has over three million Instagram followers, building their online presence almost exclusively from memes. They also credit the “transmissibility” of these funny yet relatable posts and how they can translate within different cultures.

“It has the ability to capture insight in a way that is in complete alignment with the zeitgeist,” Saint Hoax said in the same Times interview.

I refuse to believe that something known as a ‘spider wasp’ exists. I wholeheartedly believe that the devil needs to take his pets back, instead of keeping them in Australia. All who agree, say aye. Aye!

They absolutely exist, we have them in Arizona and call them tarantula wasps because that's what they hunt here.

What's the problem? The spider wasp already has a meal and isn't likely to think of me as one... seriously, I've lived nearly 50 years in Aus and have never seen a spider wasp. Spiders, yep. Wasps, yep. If they get inside, carefully catch them and put them outside. Non-venomous snakes are also ok if they're outside. Venomous nope-ropes mean a call to a professional to capture and relocate - have had a few in the yard - thankfully, none inside the house. It's important to have an awareness of the likelihood of encountering certain animals, and to be sensible about what you do if/when you do. But then in general - just get on with life. Isn't that the same, just with different animals, in most places?

No one? Up to me then... Spider wasp. Spiders wasp. Does whatever a spider wasp does. Can he swing from a web? Dunno and I have no desire to find out!

I live in coastal Mississippi and saw something similar the other day outside on my window. At first, I just saw what looked like a dead wolf spider bobbing along the upper sill, then it dropped down a little and I saw a large bug I couldn't immediately identify was carrying it. Before I could get a photo, it lost its grip and fell, but it was a smaller scale of this photo,

We have the same thing going on here in New Mexico except ours are called Tarantula Hawk Wasps and they go after, well, Tarantulas. Lots of folks call them as Cowboy Wasps too. Being stung by one of them is HELLA hot, it leaves a big hole and burns and throbs and you will cry. I've only been stung once, I'm good for the rest of my life!

I see two options here. 1: Burn the house down. 2: Sell the house and make it someone else's problem.

I used to sweep spiders outside. I was bitten on my face a few weeks ago while I was asleep. Very painful. Now, a spider in my house is a dead spider.

Mexico has 80 venomous species, Brazil 79, and Australia 66. But Australia is #1 for having species with the most deadly venom.

Woman from the post's ancestors come from the most deadly continent on earth, and a wasp killing a decent sized spider is too much for her. Meanwhile, Australians from the tame British Isles are all: "Hey, hold my beer while I punch this kangaroo, wrestle that croc, and grab a deadly snake by the tail!"...

To be fair, the big ones like huntsmen spiders you don't need to worry about, they won't hurt you. It's the little ones you need to be scared of.

Folks, Australia is a continent -- a REALLY big place! You might as well say you're gonna avoid all of America because there are a few polar bears up north. Besides, there are other more vaild reasons to avoid America.

I've seen the same number of venomous snakes in the wild in both Australia and North America. 1 in each. I've lived in NA for 62 years. I visited Australia for 3 weeks.

Meh. Spider wasps & huntsmen are fine. It’s the bird-eating spiders that are really disconcerting! If one of those is dragging your pet cockatoo out of the house, it’s time to relocate 🤷‍♀️
