People talk a lot of smack on the internet, and when that happens on social media, then the rest of the world can be fortunate enough to be there to see the glory unfold. From devastating clapbacks to good-natured puns and every other type of delightfully witty reply, a Twitter account called Gems Of Replies is there to document it all - for our benefit.

You know that sensation so many of us get hours after a conversation or argument when we realize - “damn, I should’ve said [X] instead…”? Scrolling through this account is basically the opposite of that as you get to see every moment of glory where someone said exactly what needed to be said.

Aww, it's like a family cremation (please don't come after me, I just have a dark sense of humour - I don't even eat meat)

Just pay for your own meals, why is this so hard for people.

I insist on paying for my own meals, drinks and whatever else i want. That way it can't ever be used against me, saying that i owe them.

Why do people do that? It's not just women either. An ex would order cheap when he was paying and expensive if I was - we earned the same.

People that expect others to pay simply were not raised right or are downright selfish. And the audacity to ask for the most expensive drink. No ma’am, nobody is about to play me like that.

Not sure that's a "bro code" thing. He was just a decent person with social awareness.

Waiter saw the guy was in a toxic situation, and helped him get out of it. Even if they did not know each other before, that is a brother worthy and noble act.

Just let her get it, place your order, then specify separate checks.

I understand why women, who statistically make significantly less than men, would allow a man to pick up the tab, but don't gouge him.

Seriously, you need to take every date there and tip big; and, tell all your friends to sit in his area and tip too. So professional, so perceptive, so smooth...

As a Dutch woman, it is so weird to me that there are countries where men are expected to pay for the women's food. It is just so damn strange.

He should have just left right then and there. That said, the people in these comments don't seem to understand basic dating etiquette of the person doing the inviting also being the one paying for it. Treating a so called romantic interest in a platonic manner is the dumbest thing ever. You guys seriously need to chill out and stop acting like Scrooges and pick mes.

That doesn't mean order THE most expensive thing on the menu... I usually order what I can afford to pay, regardless of who's paying.

As a woman, it always made me REALLY uncomfortable when someone tried to pay for my meal/drinks...even a platonic situation. My closest friend in college felt the same way.

Mine n my bf's anniversary is in a couple days and I requested to go to a fancy restaurant (although that was his plan anyway) so I could dress up and not look out of place. I've never been to an upscale place before, so I'm excited :) HOWEVER, since it's going to be more expensive, I flat out said we're splitting the cost. It's insanely unfair to expect someone to pay for the entire bill for an expensive restaurant/bar!

I guess what made it so bad was that she "literally asked", instead of just "asked"...???

I see where she asked what is the most expensive drink but not where it was determined that he was paying unless that is just assumed since he is telling the story. Usually I'll order one of the cheapest items no matter who is paying but I will try something more expensive once just for the experience. For example I took my girls to a very expensive ice cream shop. Spent way more than I normally would have but it was a new place and I wanted us to at least get to try it once.

The small towns/villages thing and lack of dates below is because where I live we don't tend to ask someone out on a date. We hook up with them at the pub and then decide if we want to keep seeing each other lol! If you do, you're just straight in a relationship! And if you're still secondary school age it's normally your friends going up to a boy you like and asking them if they want to be so and so's boyfriend!! It's as simple as that lol!

Jesus! Why?? Okay, I don't know if this is restricted to just small towns and villages in Scotland or not but I have only ever been out on a date once! Before the date my friend and I drank a litre bottle of Glens Vodka, so by the time we left we were pretty hammered! My friend and her man, myself and her mans friend on the date, at the pictures to see Hannibal! Saw about 10mins of the movie, spent the rest of the time between the toilet spewing and the car sleeping! Not a successful date at all! In my defence, it was my first time out after separating from my abusive ex so I was nervous!

I think it depends on the context. My native language is almost dead because people gave English too much priority. Now only villagers and old, established families can speak purely in our language, everyone else tries to talk in as much English as possible.
