Was it for a healthier diet, to help the environment, or simply a huge animal lover. Also, did you go "cold turkey?"

I started getting really grossed out by the thought of eating dead cells and flesh that would normally be rotting by now if it weren't for the chemicals the put in/on it. Decomposing flesh was my reason so cold turkey was not a problem and 10yrs later no regrets.

    Once I was old enough to understand that meat was animals, it was over. I cried because I didn’t want to eat a cow.

    Driving past a field of beautiful cows one Sunday 30 years ago, admiring nature, then connecting the fact they were the species slaughtered for my roast later that day? Never did have that meal, or any other since containing flesh.

    I'm not a full-on vegetarian, but I only eat meat if it's the only choice I have, or I'm really craving KFC, which is rare these days. :{
    The fact that animals (not at all places) are cruelly treated and killed. That just breaks my heart, as an animal lover. Those beautiful cows grazing on the field, the cute chickens, become your meal.
    When I was young, I learned that the meat of your burger are the muscles/tissue, basically, of the animal. Seeing pictures of muscles before, this really grossed me out, so I cut off on meat for awhile.

    I also love salad. A lot. It would be the only thing I'd eat if I could.

    I just didn't want to contribute my money in the organized torture of cows, chickens, turkey, pigs etc. I do still eat fish, so pescatarian. I had been wanting to stop eating meat for over a decade, but I lived in cattle county in a red state. It was harder than it should have been.

    Then I went to India for 6 months in 2013 and it is so easy there. Just kept with it for the rest of my trip. When I came back to the states, I moved to a blue state. It was much easier to not eat meat in a blue state. More progressive ideas, like not eating meat. With all the plant-based "meats", it is easier than ever.

    I am working on giving up fish and then will work towards becoming vegan. The fish thing is so hard, as most drive thrus have a fish sandwich. I am not a big fan of fast-food salads, but I love fast food. The impossible burger at Burger King was a game changer. I honestly cannot tell the difference.

    I’ve been vegetarian for a few years now, I didn’t like the idea of eating or hurting animals (it makes me a little mad). I also don’t understand why we as humans feel that we are better then other animals, what gives us the right to kill animals to eat when we can survive on other things.

    Another reason is that it is better for the environment…

    I'm vegan due to the awful practices in factory farms.
    I will eat animal products if they are sourced from local farmers that use humane practices, but it's expensive enough I usually only eat them for special occasions.
    I also eat honey and fish, since I don't have the same moral concerns.

    I'm not going meatless yet but I saw a truck stuffed with live chickens on a highway so I started to watch what I ate and from where after

    I tried out the one week vegan challenge. After the challenge I realized how good I felt about everything. (I also respect vegans because that was really difficult lol). So I decided to become vegetarian instead. :3 So not cold turkey, lukewarm turkey? Additionally, I am OBSESSED with animals and the thought of eating them makes me anxious and sick. I think I have been vegetarian for over two years now, and I don't regret it!

    (I dare you to try out the one week vegan challenge, it might change your life!)

    I use to live close to a meat packing plant. While sitting at a stoplight the cows on the trucks, being hauled off the be slaughtered, looked at me through the holes in the trailer with their big brown eyes. Completely broke my heart. Stopped eating meat after that day.
