This can be anything, from learning how to use a smartphone, to learning coding, 3d printing, Photoshop, etc.

I learned that by reading a car manual and watching YouTube you can do pretty much anything to your car that needs doing. Rebuilt my diesel engine with a little muscle power help from my friend, as I'm a teeny tiny older lady that needs a step ladder to access the engine bay! Never too old to learn a new skill!
Yep, saved THOUSANDS of dollars by DIY on simple fixes like master switches in the door handles, broken automatic door belts, knowing how to reset whatever can be reset! And I'm no mechanic, and have just a standard household toolkit. The most help I've needed was on rusted screws that refused to turn in my puny hands.
Unfortunately, crtl+alt+delete does not work on humans.
And if you make a mistake in real life ctrl and z doesn't work either.😕
Ah, my favorite place to learn new PC techniques is here
https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000050.htm
Thanks to this site I'm now a more useful idiot than ever before. The link above teaches
How to create a link that opens a new web page window or tab
If you can put it into search words you can learn it on this site.
Ila in Maine
Not me, but my dad - I showed him how you can read emails right from the screen so he doesn't have to print them to read anymore!
I have a stack of paper next to my desk of stuff I have printed and read. I guess it is the cave man in me that like the paper.
Have you ever tried to select and copy text from a web page where the text was a link or in some other way interactive? You can't just select the text because it wants to follow the link or pop up a message.
Well, I learned that if you hold the alt key down while selecting it, often it will ignore whatever controls are underneath and just allow you to select the text so you can copy it.
The back of an iPhone is like a “button”. If you go into settings->accessibility->touch->back tap, you can go from there! And with the shortcuts app there’s like endless possibilities, I made it so when I tap the back of my phone twice, it’ll send me to Google. And if I tap 3 times, it’ll send me to my messages. You can even make it send you to boredpanda, turn on dark mode, take a video, turn your brightness up, it’s crazy.
On iPhone 8 and above btw. I know this because I heard about it and I have a 7 while my cousin has an 8 so when we were testing it I found out
learnt to hang wallpaper.
use a drill
needle felt animals.
all since June.
I learned to do 3 d printing stuff and crochet except I suck at crochet
My mom taught me a bit of crochet when I was a young teen. Picked it up again when pregnant with my first with YT help. I have so many crocheted blankets from my mom, I can see she had zero patience for weaving in her ends nicely! I've had to put it down and pick it up again, based on my kids' maturity level. Makes me feel a tiny bit closer to mom
safely use a chain saw... not that technical, but throwing it in anyway.
Unplug the spark plug wire when working on a chainsaw...........or a lawnmower.
I learned how to program 3 remotes into one remote. My Fire TV is semi broken, so I put a Roku stick in it to stream and also have cable, which equals 3 remotes. Finally got all functions on one, but some of the buttons I had to use are kind of random, so I had to make a list of what each button does, and tape it on the wall, until I get used to it. And please, all you tech natives, stop rolling your eyes. I am an old lady and at least I'm trying. I learned and used at least 28 different software programs during my varied career so I am not entirely Jitterbug phone level. But what I have found is that if you take just 2 or 3 years off to take care of a relative, technology just runs on by you and doesn't look back.
The number of times I had to walk to my grandma's house to click the input button for her TV... You are doing AMAZING!
Video and sound editing. Just basics.
I can Facetime my daughter on her iphone using my iphone. And when I take a live picture, if I hold my finger over the pic, it's like a mini video. Love this new phone! (The last one I had was a flip phone.)
The newly added features in Facetime are awesome, specially that spatial sound stuff.
I learned how to draw the perfect espresso.
If you doubt this is a technical skill, go online and look at Bezzara espresso machines. There is a definite learning curve.
I learned that ships' propellers are designed using the Betz limit, which is only really appropriate for harbour tugboats and the original tug-of-war contests against paddle wheels. Aircraft propellers are designed using the Froude equations, which account for moving through air or water, and would give at least 20% better efficiency.
I'm finally learning about GIT and how to merge branches. I keep thinking a career change may be in order. I've been a business analyst for almost 20yrs but I really think I'd like to become a release manager.
The two words Git and Github are a nightmare for me. I still haven't figured out how to use these Version Control Systems.
I just recently got into computers and have learned a lot about building them. Looking forward to build a computer myself in the future.
Try JayzTwoCents on youtube. I've been building for 2 decades and he is the easiest to understand.
The rings on a jack determine the output-who knew!!
One ring means mono playback. This basic plug only delivers one channel of sound to both the left and right earbud. Two rings mean stereo. Three separating rings means you’ve got two stereo pins, and a microphone pin.
How to capture a screen shot in a movie I'm watching on Netflix ...or any streaming service, for that matter.
Switching to electric outdoor power equipment for my lawn service. Growing up I learned to start, refuel, maintain, and repair ICE equipment. Starting all over. I have never had to worry about a dirty anode on an ICE lawn mower. I still don't have the skills needed to describe all the new problem solving that I have been doing over the last 11 months. Refueling an electric mower is not as simple as refueling an ICE mower. Nor is storing and transferring the fuel. But I can say that I have not yet "spilled" any of the new fuel on to the ground. 🤣
I’m also learning a little voice acting and video editing so I can narrate audio books . I read a lot , like two books a week since I was like 8 . Narrating would me amazing
I'm contemplating it for books for the deaf, I think that's very cool!
Learned how to use DATEC (accounting software) in case I'll ever need it
I just recently got into computers and have learned a lot about building them. Looking forward to build a computer myself in the future.
Check out artesianbuilds on Twitch tv, they build custom computers on live streams!
that punching my all in one pc is not a good idea because my ram fell out the last time I did
Lol, what started out as a way to pass time during lockdown became a hobby that I didn’t think I’d do to well at. I’m terrible at drawing , but it turns out I can’t paint a little lol. I have like 50 paint by numbers paintings . I don’t want them but I don’t want to throw them away. Anyways, goofing around with those actually showed me how to paint a little bit .
Like me and embroidery kits. I'm hoping the theory of evolution will work and 10 years from now I will pull them from storage and they will be finished... Lol!
How to play a pinball game on your iPhone (if you have the Google app):
-Open up the Google app
-Go to “Tabs”
-Swipe up from the bottom of your screen
-Have fun!
I learned that by looking very carefully, I can see that this data entry box actually works. I'm still wondering why anyone uses les than 80% contrast, though. It is to hard to see the typos.
I learned how to recover(hack) my home Wi-Fi password from my pc so I could use my tablet. >:3
God Bridging in minecraft is very hard
Can you imagine at speed like those speedrunners? Nope, there I go into lava again, lol!
I learnt to sleep in on non-zoom meeting days, worked out well. (Half technical)
learning how to build a desk top computer from ground up. Already earned MSN on line, at 62
How to unzip and start up Java so I can play with my cousin on his Minecraft server!
I recently learned some audio editing stuff using vocals, which is so hard to sync up with the music, but sounds cool when you do.
Finally decided to give my Pc a propper Watercooling inclusive the Graphics card.
Scared at first because, you know, water is bad for electronic stuff.
But it turns out really easy and straight forward. If you can build a PC with air cooling, you can build a pc with water cooling too.
This is true for AIOs, but save the custom watercooling till you are super comfortable building.
Youtube can do more than have cat videos. You can learn how to do damn near anything.
