Well, I'm way too old to be able to name just one....

Here's my top 5 songs by contemporary women artists in the Dark folk/ gothic/ doomgaze genre.....

"Mono No Aware" by Sylvaine... ( words cannot describe the importance this song, and the woman who introduced me to Sylvaine's music.... my girlfriend... )

" Be all things" by Chelsea Wolfe

"Love's sudden death" by Darkher

"Ulvinde" by Myrkur

"Fight like a girl" by Emile Autumn
...... and honourable mention to the goddess of all music....
" the man with the child in his eyes " by Kate Bush....

And my favorite lyric?
" imagine his surprise,
As he opens his eyes....
And I run a lawnmower,
Over his thighs...."

"Welcome to the cheap seats" by The Wonderstuff....

I'm sure your girlfriend considers herself the luckiest woman ever because she has you!

"Dance Again" by Kite

"For too long I've been underground
And for too long I've had my curtains down
Now I'm done with pity and doubt
Now it's time for me to get out
So tonight I'm gonna dance again..."

Dancing has always been one of the most important things in my life, and I'd never have thought there would be someone I'd want to share it with, but now there is. And we met underground somehow....

Okay, my favorite song is definitely Trilobye by A Shell In The Pit or The End Of athe Universe by ASAPscience.. But my favorite lyric is 100% a very, very tiny piece of that one song that plays 99% of the time in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. "Think of all the friends you've made, all of them living free" really just hits me right here *pinting to every single waddle dee everywhere*

From Love at First Sight by the Brobecks-

"Dark dark nights, and violent things
Vaudevillian girls, and violin strings
All of these are the prettiest things when I'm in love"

"Crashed the McLaren, bought me a Tesla
I know you sick of me talkin' 'bout cars (skrrt)
But what the f**k else do you want from me?
That is the only thing keepin' me company
Purchase some things 'till I'm annoyed
These items is fillin' the void
Been fillin' it for so long I don't even know if it's s**t I enjoy"

From "Bloody Ice Cream" by Bikini Kill:

"The
Sylvia
Plath story's told
to girls who write
they want us to think
that to be a girl poet
means you have to die"

Can't just pick one.

White sun scattered all over the sea
He could think of nothing but her name, Elise
God is the sweat running down his back
The water soaked her blonde hair black

PJ Harvey-A Perfect day Elise

There's no one left to take the lead
But I tell you and you can see
We're closer now than light years to go
Pick up here and chase the ride
The river empties to the tide
Fall into the ocean

REM - Find the river

Droplets of yes and no
In an ocean of maybe

Faith no more - Falling to pieces

Oh, I hear her walking
Walking barefoot cross the floorboards
All through this lonesome night
I hear her crying too
Hot-tears come splashing down
Leaking through the cracks
Down upon my face
I catch 'em in my mouth

Nick Cave and the Bad seeds - From her to eternity
