What’s the worst case of homophobia, transphobia, etc. you’ve ever encountered.

#1

One of my friends got fired because the upper management found out he was bisexual.
Another trans friend's parents asked her to be "normal" and psychologically pressured her into not going through with a transition because they didn't want her to. I don't know the details, but it was obvious that it scarred her.

Idk if I have said these once but I used to want to get a surgery to become a gurl. Well when I lived with adoptive family (now former) I asked my parents what they thought about trans people. Well they absolutely bashed people that do that and shamed them. It literally scared me to even mention I want to.

My grandma likes watching those people being judgy about purses and bidding them off. One of the purse designers was gay and my grandma said "He makes really good designs, but he's homosexual, which is disgusting". I didn't say anything but I know I should've, I just didn't want to be on my grandma's bad side

We were selling our house and we had this AMAZING realtor problem (I didn’t mind this at all btw I supported him) was he’s gay.. My mom told me that she liked him except for the fact that he was gay… My dad (he had a family in the past he divorced and married my mom) who had a Trans son was PISSED. AND IM OPENLY PANSEXUAL NON BI- So I was watching my parents argue and cried later because I have such an amazing dad!

My aunt is insane. We were having a 'discussion' and she stated multiple times, 1.) "I don't want my kids seeing two men or two women holding hands." 2.) "A boy can never be a girl no matter what." and 3.) "If my son came out as gay, I would cry and be very disappointed and sad."
Disclaimer: I still love my aunt even though she is insanely homophobic and transphobic, but if she finds this, I am dead.

We shouldn't show kids men and women holding hands, because then they would be pressured into being heterosexual! AAAAAAAAAAAAA

My best friend’s brother first came out as lesbian and then as trans and his dad stopped talking to him. I also have friends who have parents that refuse to accept them and misgender them every day. Everyone that I’ve come out to has been supportive but I have a few friends that probably won’t like me when I find the courage to come out to them.

It's a day that I will never forget. The day of Freddie Mercury's death.

The end of the news report on TV: ...various reports confirming the news of Freddie Mercury's death.
Me, just walking into the room: What? Freddie's dead? how did he die?
My racist, sexist, homophobe uncle: He died of 'the gay'! Those bum bandits are going to kill each other off quick enough, just make sure you stay away from any of them.
Me, ignoring him: Nan? How did he die?
Nan: Turns out he had that disease that them homosexuals have been getting. I don't know what it's called, but when you go church this week, be sure to say a prayer for all them people with it.
ME: Nan, I don't go church anymore.
Nan: Well you should this week, because these people are going to need all the help they can get. There's no cure for this thing.
Uncle: Good! The dirty f****ts deserve it! Tell you what boy, pray that it gets them faster so that they can go to hell sooner.
Nan: For the love of all that is holy, SHUT THE F**K UP JOE!, before I swing for you!

My mother has knocked out Uncle Joe on 3 occasions that I have witnessed, and several other that I have heard about. Each time for something racist, sexist or homophobic that he said.

Uncle Joe, you are a piece of s**t! Maybe one day you'll learn a lesson.

at my school some people (with permission from teachers) drew pride flags on the sidewalk and made a pride display in the building. The principal took them down and washed the chalk off the sidewalk because it was "distracting". Also some guys have been going in the girls bathroom and ripping up the positivity/pride posters.

The worst statement I ever heard was back in the mid 80s. It was when AIDS and HIV had just begun in the US. I worked for a major pharmaceutical company working on hopeful treatment/cure. I was out to dinner with friends, and because of an NDA at the time, could not disclose where we were at with the project. Well, the topic came up, and We were discussing the death toll, which, at that time was out of control, when a woman, not with us, like, another table, decided we needed to be “educated”, and went on to full on rant about how those who contracted it deserved it, spewed her biblical rhetoric. We let her finish, we were embarrassed to say the least.

PS: This did have a happy ending. One of my friends felt the need for a bit of laughter, so she stood up,, and said “please ladies and gentlemen, help prevent the spread of stupidity, use a condom.” The entire room erupted in giggles, CHECK PLEASE.

One of my friends who is lesbian came out to me in class and I was happy for her. Well my art teacher heard that she said that and she said “ you shouldn’t say that there are many impressionable kids and they shouldn’t be affected by that type of nonsense” and it was like wtf man that’s not how you should act

I hinted at my genderqueerness to my best friend and she went "do you think your a boy?" and i said "idk maybe, i am just not a girl" and she went on a rant about how im definitely a girl and that i should just be happy with what god gave me and that i'd never truly be anything other than a girl. that scarred me.

If you ever encounter that again, remind that person that while God don’t make junk, this doesn’t prevent people from spewing garbage.

So, I don’t know if I’m technically aloud to respond to this because I’m straight, but one time I was at Applebee’s with my family for my dads bday dinner. I was wearing a pretty rainbow bracelet o had worked for an hour so I could wear it there. I put it on my dads wrist because he used to think I was funny when I was younger. After realizing what I did, he immediately said, “Do not support.” I didn’t even suggest that he did, he just said it. Btw I’m not like my dad and I do support lgbtq.
