As someone with a disability, you must have encountered all sorts of people commenting or making stupid remarks. Share them with us.

I'm an amputee and a wheelchair user. The list of stupid things said to me is endless. My favorite was a pizza delivery guy debating that he's more disabled than me like it was some sort of competition. I mean seriously, it's not a contest anyone would like to win! I still giggle to myself about that.

Ive seen people poor chemicals in their eyes because they wanted to be blind... like there are people out there who wosh they could see their friends and family, and you force yourself blind because you think its fun...

I have a prosthetic shoulder, which is inside my skin, and attached to bone. I once got asked if I could take it off.

That I, as a disabled human, should walk on the boardwalk of a street which was for pedestrians and cyclists where guests!

And of course I should eat more vegetables, go to Lourdes, find Jezus, get over it, train more, try pot, eat bone marrow and so on, and so on….

I’ve also heard that second part as I used to have seizures lol

Panic disorder here, combined with ADHD and sensitive to depressions. My absolute favourites: "just think positive thoughts!" Or "we all have our bad days." And my all time number one: "there's no need to panic!"
Listen people: That's not how this works! (Or any mental health issue for that matter) It's not a matter of choice, It is a part of me. The only 'choice' I can have is how to deal, ask for help if any of it plays up and trying to make the best of my life with these issues; to accept and love myself for who I am.
Still contemplating to whack the next person who advises me to 'think positive'. (Note: I really hate violence, so that should say something 🤭)

P.s. hugs for all of you out there. Whatever your 'disability', you are wonderful!💪

Ok so I’m diabetic and SO MANY PEOPLE have told me that the right diet will “fix me”. Eating vegetables is not going to fix my pancreas.

I'm also a T1 diabetic (although my other disabilities aren't related). I've heard this so many times. My favourite though is when someone sees me inject and they say "Ooh, I could never do that!" I mean yeah, it's like as if I have a choice 🤣

A lot of people think it is really easy for everyone to talk or walk. I've had many people tell me that I should just be able to do those things well. Clearly, I can't, so um.

Also many people have tried to tell me that my disabilities aren't real disabilities. Well, I think they'd feel differently if they had to live with this.

“go see a chiropractor”
me, having a spine that is curved 50 degrees into the shape of an s, cannot get better by seeing a chiropractor. no, the only way for me to have a normal as possible spine is by getting my back sliced open and having metal in there for the rest of my goddamn life.

"Bipolar that's when you have one personality one moment and a different personality the next? That must be hard on your husband' My bosses boss said this to me when I made the mistake of disclosing. I never disclosed at work again. I was very thankful when he transferred out of my department
