Home Depot in Baltimore. I ask an employee where the shovels are located. He looks around and says, “Where’s your husband?” I told him that I had murdered my husband for making sexist comments and that’s why I needed the shovel. Also, could he help me load the heavy gauge plastic and bags of lyme into my Subaru.

Long story short I went to purchase my first off the lot brand new car. I was running off of like 8 hours of sleep in 3 days and had just come off my third double in a row, so patience was not a virtue I possessed at the moment. I went up to the sales man and said "I am here for a (year / model) car. Manuel transmission in ANY color. Any color at all EXCEPT silver. What does this idiot bring me too? An automatic silver (year / model). I snapped. I was like are you serious? He said (I s**t you not) well this car has a CVT it works like... I cut him off. It's a continual Variable transmission it's "stick" for pussies who don't know how to drive stick. I know wtf it is. I don't want it. Just because I have a pair of these *points to chest doesn't mean I don't know what I want. I was raised by a mechanic. I bet I know more about the cars on the lot than you do. So give me what I want. He was like "ummm we don't have any manual transmissions" I told him well you could've opened with that and it doesn't negate the fact you still brought me to a silver one when I asked for any other color. WHY??? if there's a car salesman reading this, quit trying to pull one over on a female. Most of us know exactly what we want. We have done our research and we pay attention. Females like me, love to get their hands dirty and can wrench on our own vehicles. Just stop.

This happened a few months ago, in fact in December 2020. It was my sister's wedding, so many women from my village came to our house, and while I am helping putting the jugs for dinner, I heard one of them asking my aunt (my late father's sister) my am I not helping with cooking. I didn't thought of it that much, until I heard these beautiful words:

"What!? She doesn't know how to cook!? What would she do aur SHE is married!?"

It triggered ms more than expected because:

1. I AM 13.

2. I HAD TOLD EVERYONE I KNOW A MILLION TIMES THAT I DON'T WANT ANYONE TALKING ABOUT MY MARRIAGE UNTIL/UNLESS I APPROVE.

3. SHE LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WAS CRAZY WHEN I TOLD HER THAT I WAS THE TOPPER OF MY CLASS AND WON A PRIZE IN DEBATE, POETRY AND DANCING AND ASKED ME, "WHY ARE YOU STUDYING? YOU SHOULD BE IN THE KITCHEN!" AND DIDN'T BELIEVE WHEN I SHOWED HER MY MEDALS(SHE THOUGHT IT WAS OF MY BROTHER'S.)

Fortunately, my mum doesn't want want to be connected to those women either and said that I can break the connection when I become an adult.

I replied, "Well, I may eventually go into administration, teaching, or research [approving nods], or I might find myself a nice doctor and marry HER."

I have never understood why certain jobs or chores are assigned to us by our genders. My wife works a job that pays low but it tens times harder than mine. I have no problem doing those chores that I know she hates.

As we came down one evening, there was a flat bed semi that pulled up along side us on the freeway. The truck bed was loaded with smashed cars, flattened by a wrecking yard.

This guy, Evan, yells over to his friend "Hey look!" Points to wrecked cars. "The result of women driver's, every one of them!" Not a smart thing for him to say since every seat around him was filled with girls. Four hands came out of nowhere and smacked him.

I dropped a friend of mine and her 15 year old daughter off at a Hispanic grocery store while I ran a few errands. After 15 minutes, she called me to come pick them up quick. Turned out that three men, about 40-ish in age, were following her daughter around the store begging her for her phone number and/or a date. She was scared that something was going to happen to her daughter. I had them point out the men, got them in the car and then made a scene as I yelled at the manager about allowing pedophiles in their store. I also confronted the men in question and told them if they ever came near her again, I'd not only tell their wives what they've been up to, I'd have the police all over for harassment and stalking a minor. The three men left after the manager told them they were no longer welcome in the store. He apologized profusely and escorted my friend and her daughter around the store so they could do their shopping in peace.

I'm a female locksmith; have been for a long time. Arrived on-site to a vehicle lockout. Simple job, straightforward. Keys were locked inside the rental UHaul. I am in uniform, unloading all my gear. As I approach the man and his vehicle, he asks where my guy is. I stopped, confused. I am the one who had answered the phone, took his info, and told him that based on his location, I would be there in 10 minutes, since he was right around the corner from the shop. He was not having it that I could do the job and kept insisting that he would wait for a man to come. So I started loading my gear up and said I would send my guy when he came on shift at 4 p.m. (currently 8 a.m.). The man's adult son started pleading with me to do the job and for his dad to be quiet. I said only if dad was okay with that, and payment was upfront. Finally, the dad agreed. That whole exchange took maybe 15 minutes. I unlocked the UHaul and then loaded up and was back in my own truck in 60 seconds flat. Their faces were PRICELESS! Why do people like him like to waste time with their assumptions or ignorant opinions?

One ex-bf (who claimed himself a feminist) used to get mad if I changed light bulbs or fixed stuff in my apartment. He said me doing that made him feel "less of a man" as those were male tasks (?). Also, I have always had amazing spatial sense. He didn't. He would get lost in the kitchen. But if he was taking me to a place and he was a bit lost, he said I shouldn't say anything because that would make him feel "less of a man". Younger naive me let all that pass, and we ended up breaking up because he said he felt "less" because I had my life sorted (job, apartment, car) and he didn't (I didn't mind to be honest). Interesting... do really men feel "less of a man" if a woman can manage well by herself or is better in certain things? Do men feel the same if they compared themselves with other men as well?

4, the worst, we had safety groups by department where I worked, after we finished the weeks long tutorial, the company would take us out to a nice dinner.

When I was in the Navy, I was 19 and married at the time. My Division Chief (Chief Petty Officer, essentially my boss's boss) had heard some rather races rumors about me. We happened to be walking to my shop at the same time.

He looked over at me and said "so, I heard you've slept with half the men on the base... when do you plan to get to my half? *disgusting chuckle*". He was very pleased with himself for being "humorous" or something.

I looked over at him, aghast! I replied "I'm married and have a child, so never. I'd appreciate it if you could not help spread malicious rumors about me, any further. It's bad enough that you accost ME in this fashion, but to insult me in the same breath is just appalling, coming from a senior enlisted person!"

He turned red, whipped around and went back to the main building in the opposite direction we were headed. Apparently he was only going the same direction as me because he felt the need to unload that gem upon me, undetected or without witnesses or whatever.

He later filed a complaint of insubordination against me.

These two men then proceed to mansplain to me that not even a doctor could tell me that the bites I had all over my body were because of bed bugs. And I told them “as a doctor, you are correct, I could not tell you with 100% certainty that I was bitten by bed bugs. However, these are bed bugs”. Their faces were priceless. With her type of narcolepsy, she could have conversations and answer questions. One day she fell asleep during rehearsal, and the director asked her what she wanted to do. I don't normally stop for people who are on the side of the road with their cars broken down due to this experience. I was helping a woman who had three small children in her car, broken down on the side of the road. A guy in a big 4x4 pickup pulled up and sauntered to the front of the car where I was explaining to the woman what I had found. The man literally pushed me out of the way and said "I'll take care of this little lady" and I guess the woman felt relieved that there was a MAN there to save her because she turned her back on me and hung on every word coming out of his mouth. I got on my motorcycle and drove off swearing never again.

My sports teacher in elementary school (who was female) wouldn't let us play football or basketball and would only let us play throw ball because we were girls. They also only had boys teams for sports up until middle school and even then, the girls' teams didn't get as much recognition from the school. When the girls complained about it, our headmistress (who was also female) reprimanded us for 'disrespecting' our elders. Only when our parents threatened to pull us out of that school did the teachers let us play, and even then, they refused to let us mix with the boys in games despite our school being co-ed. When I reached middle school, one my older friends told me that a similar incident had taken place with the middle school teacher (and she was also, you guessed it, female). Wtf?

They'll often cite safety as a reason for not allowing co-ed gym classes, but that explanation doesn't entirely make sense - if it's really about safety, would make much more sense to split gym classes by size or athletic ability.

I play hockey as a goalie for a women’s league. Occasionally I will play for other teams or beer leagues as I have time or energy. Got a request one night to play for a beer league team as they didn’t have a goalie fairly last minute. I show up to get dressed a few of the guys are surprised that I am a woman, and question how long I’ve played and if I was actually any good. As the dressing room fills up guys start chirping about how they have “a buddy who could play goal” and a few joking that aw man we gonna have a shitty game cause we got the girl goalie. At this point I was 3/4 dressed in my gear. I stopped and started to take off my gear. The guys in the room stopped talking and were like “Wait what are you doing?we need a goalie!” At which point I slung my pads over my shoulder picked up my bag and casually said as I walked out “Call your buddy you got like 5 minutes before the ice is ready”
I never looked back.

Like, I just bought a pair of shorts from the “boys section” and they had five pockets and all five would fully fit my phone. The “girl shorts” I’m wearing right now have two pockets that fit half my phone. It’s so annoying

I remember that I once had a teacher in my freshman year of high school who I already hated for a multitude of reasons (including repeatedly complimenting me on every single thing, seemingly forcing me to talk to her, and all around treating me like a small child). My hatred for her only cemented in when someone in the class swore while I was around, and she said something about how you "shouldn't swear around ladies". (for context as to why I have a masculine name despite this, I'm transgender (FTM) and have only come out online) When I gave her this "wtf?" look, she thought I was on her side, too.

Another one worth mentioning: Though few of his comments were ever directed at anyone specifically, I also knew someone in 8th grade who said a lot of sexist statements. I still vividly remember him saying something about how the only purpose of "females" was to make you want to kill them.

Buckle up, this is going to be long. Okay, so I'm not so sure if this fits in with sexist, it is more of a menstruation myth. So, this person we will call S was on her period. She wanted to set up before the prayers but was taught that periods were impure and she must not touch anything distinctly god- related. Now, for the most part, S didn't believe or enforce any of these myths ever since she was little, but when it came to god... you get it. She asked me to do it for her. I had a feeling that this was something to do with period myths, but I wanted to be sure, so I asked her why. She sounded ashamed and answered in a low voice that women on their period are considered impure. It went something like this:-
Me: You don't seriously believe that, do you?
S: *silence*
Me: There is literally no evidence of that. It doesn't even make sense! I didn't think you believed such nonsense!
(A little harsh, but still)
S: I don't. I'm just used to going about it that way.
I don't really remember much of it. I do remember aggressively citing sources(see below) and literally shaking with rage. In the end, she very happily carried on with the setting up thing(she loves doing it, good for her).

You say you were a bit harsh but you helped her address a belief in her own head that was hurting her and in the end it seemed to have done her a lot of good. So I'd say you hit the absolute right tone!

On a subway to get to work. Dude(TOTAL STRANGER) walks up slaps my ass, calls me sweetcheeks, and tries to hit on me. I mean, that was pretty awful and crap but here's the REAL kicker: I explain that I'm a lesbian. He legit asks: "Who fixes your car?" When I say that really bad issues I take it to the mechanic and if it's minor I fix it myself. HE IS CONFUSED!! CONFUSED that I can fix a car. Calls me weird, and gets off at his stop.

When I was in fifth grade (afab) my teacher asked for volunteers to go to the cafeteria after an assembly to help put the chairs away and I raised my hand, in front of the whole class she goes something like "No no, im sorry but I need 2 strong boys to send" and me not understanding sexism all the way just went "But Im just as strong as they are" and she literally said "I'm sure you are" in a sarcastic tone. Keep in mind this is a female teacher, what the heck.

Not me, but a friend in college. We had a weekend project, and she asked if she could stay with me Friday night, she'd buy dinner, but she lived far enough away it was better to stay in town. I said sure that sounded fine. The day comes and we go to my house, but before we leave for dinner she says there is something I have to tell you. Ok.
What she tells me is that when she eats, she sometimes passes out. It can be her just going blank for a few seconds to literally falling on the floor. But I wasn't to worry, because she'd be fine. We were eating Italian and spicy food was the worst, but she also wanted to go to that restaurant.
Sorry this is long, but now just a bit of back story. I'd known her from other classes for maybe a year. And she was an Airhead. Ditzy. Spaced out. It turns out that her problem started at 10 or 12 yrs old. She would tell her doctors the same thing " it happens when I eat". But they Did Not Listen.
They put her on phenobarbital. She was about 26 at this point. Airhead? No, not at all. But she had been on phenobarbital since she was 12. Only recently had she found a doctor willing to listen. So he hooked her up to the machines and fed her. When she burped it caused her heart to Stop.
She was at the time being weaned off the phenobarbital. And at dinner she only fazed out for a few seconds. Our project went fine.

Medicine, as a whole, is aggressively skewed toward male/AMAB bodies. Women are often silenced or ignored even when they are 100% right or having a serious issue. It's beyond gross.

Amber herself is crazy sexist as well, I remember in an audio recording she literally screamed, "They'll never believe you because you're a man!" at Johnny. Like wtf man, this ain't justice.

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again: if adult/old men are distracted by the bodies of young/teenage girls - regardless of what the girls are wearing - the girls are not the problem. Ever.

So I’ve already done one but I got so much positive feedback so I’m going to do a few more in one post. I will try to separate it as to help those who get overwhelmed by large texts like me ^^

1) we were reading Romeo and Juliet. It was the part where Mercutio is talking about Quean Mab (roughly translates to wh*re pr*st*tute) and the kid aforementioned in my other post and his group who was in the room with us kept repeating and making fun of it
I gave them the death stare as I am a DECENT HUMAN BEING. They are like “what” and I say why are you repeating it. 3 of them were stuttering, probably to come up with a decent excuse and the boy I mentioned before went “because it’s funny”

2) Same guy. Did you think I was done with him?? Hahahhahahahahahahha. Ha. Ha. Ha. My friend who is always mediator, always neutral, and I were talking about his most recent b*tchy thing and I was saying “he’s never had a girlfriend” and she was like “yeah because he’s sexist”

3)Boys in our class looking through our yearbook and making fun of our pictures. Aforementioned friend REALLY p*ssed and talked about how none of them have ever had girlfriends or talked to girls. Ever. At all. This year.

4)not a story but there is one guy (different guy than the main one)who will only listen to other guys if he’s being told to do something, even if the female is a teacher

I have SO many more but I’m tired and will be going to bed

I used to work for a company with a headquarters in a city and country where women are supposed to be quiet, demure, and subservient outside the home. I'm American. That's (generally) not how it's done here anymore. So when they started demanding things from my team/office that we could not provide, I was firm in telling them we could not meet those demands and suggested a middle ground instead.

I thought it went great. Apparently not.

My local boss pulls me into his office and tells me that the higher ups (at headquarters) were furious because I was "too aggressive for a woman". That's a direct quote.

The company was super shady, looking back. But that stuck with me. I left corporate work not long after that.

My mom & I were at the beach a couple hours from home when her classic Cabriolet stalled out as we were parking. Of course popping the hood seems to draw all men like zombies getting a whiff of brains. I'm handy, but I only know a little about cars. We call her boyfriend, who is a mechanic and had fixed this car up for her to see what he recommended. I'm trying to listen and look at a few things to diagnose the problem over the phone, while 4 or 5 men mill around the engine pretending like they knew what was wrong, and I am not sure that any of them could have jump started the car if I asked, but I didn't pay them any mind. Her boyfriend tells me it's a relay switch, tells me I just need a couple inches of wire and that he can tell me where to put it if I can get the wire. We were at the park & ride bus station (because parking at the boardwalk is impossible), happens that one of the men standing around worked there & could get the wire from the shop. When the men heard that I was going to fix this old car, they literally couldn't bare to watch (I'm not sure if out of fear that I would hurt myself, damage the car, or fail so miserably that I would cry) and all shuffled off to their cars to watch from a distance. The employee, who was probably 10 years older than her, chatted up my mom, who had been playing helpless female, while I got back on the phone. While sitting upsidedown in the driver's seat, trying to hold the flashlight in my mouth to see under the dash, while on the phone, I put the wire in place to complete the relay, then flipped around and started the car, a manual transmission at that. Certainly wasn't any of the problems all the men stood around speculating, and the employee was genuinely shocked that I could follow a Mechanic's instructions to make the repair, after helping to correctly identify it by phone.

My stepfather once told me with a totally serious and straight face, that women aren’t allowed to make sausage during their time of the month. The reason? They obviously exhale some ominous fumes which will make the sausage turn bad in an instant. 12 year-old me felt confused and ashamed at the same time, because women are a danger to food safety due to an already annoying body function. I knew that he was talking BS, but couldn’t argument against it. And still to this day, there are butchers who won’t allow their female employees to work while having their menstruation (which in turn means that they have to inform their boss about it). Sure, women are to blame even for some frigging sausage gone bad, not your lack of skills... The German food safety regulations are very strict, and if there was any proof of a negative effect on food due to menstruating women, there would be at least one regulation almost certainly.
This makes my blood boil even today when l think about it. Btw, my stepfather was and is a misogynistic a**hole.
