The this probably wasn't the most embarrassing, but the most touching in the way my father handled it. He was actually my stepdad and not a very demonstrative person.
We were looking under the hood of his old Chevy truck, trying to assess the an unwelcome noise. Pointing to something that I suspected ..."bddddt!" My finger hit the spinning radiator fan.
Instantly, his big right hand enclosed mine and his left arm went around my shoulders. After a moment, he said "Well, let's see the damage." It turned out there was no harm done. On the contrary, my heart was healed, that day.
