That the judgmental "You'll go to hell if you..." Christianity has nothing to do with the Christianity of the Bible. Jesus had a disciple that was a zealot (anti-Roman group), and one that was a tax-collector (literally worked for Rome) in the same group. He hung out with adulterers, racists, etc. -the literal scum of his society- without ever judging them. He loved them but not their sin. And then he died to pay their way into heaven.
If we followed Jesus' example instead of shoving rules in each-other's faces, it really would change the world.

That nonbinary is a real thing and you were not "always nonbinary until you said you weren't because you realized you were female/male" because that is not how it works. It is not a decision and it is not from birth until you decide otherwise. And sex and gender are 2 different things. I'M TALKING TO YOU MOM! Nonbinary is a gender identity and you can't decide if you are nonbinary or cisgender. Unless you want your children or friends to lose respect for you, don't say things like this. If they come out as LGBTQ+, don't hate them or tell them they're wrong because gender is an ever evolving thing, and so is sexuality

I hate when they say that “Oh you’re too young to know you’re gay.” Girl, then how am I old enough to know I’m straight? Both are valid sexualities, so how am I “old enough” to know I’m one of them but not the other?!

Chronic illness. What it's really like to have something that doesn't go away. What it's like to manage thousands of medical appointments at which they don't offer to make you better, they tell you about two options which suck and ask which awful choice you want to make them sit back and look at you expectantly. How expensive it is, that things which aren't that dear add up fast if you need them every day of your life or for multiple body parts. That you can be ok with it 99% of the time but every now and then it gets right on your wick and you want to be allowed to complain about it just for once. Tomorrow I'll do it all over again, but today I'm not ok.

I'm so very sorry 😞. I truly appreciate what you're going through and understand many issues that go along with chronic health issues and invisible disabilities. I hope you're having the most comfortable day possible for you and have some time to relax on your own. How stress from others can put in a pain cycle that seems out of control and how even on your best days you've only got so much you can give, and once you've exhausted that amount you're body is done, no matter what your brain wanted. How people who see you the most just don't seem to understand no matter how many times you explain it. I'm doing much better emotionally these days, I've been ill over a decade now. I don't know your history but I had much more difficulty in the first five or so years. Gentle cyber hugs. If you ever want to chat, I'm here.

I don't think the people in the system are ebad, I think the system is bad.
Example; I don't think cops are bad. A lot of cops are wonderful people, actually, and I respect most of them a ton. But the system is totally f****d because it allows for cops to be horrible people and get away with it. Most cops are fine, the police system is broken and must be fixed. You can't just give anyone a gun and let them shoot innocent people of color with at most third degree murder charged when it's pretty clearly first or second. It's getting out of hand and we need to fix the system. I'm sick of the argument 'not all cops are bad! We shouldn't change anything cause only a few are racist murderers!' If you have a police system that allows for any racist murderers at all, its deeply flawed and must be fixed. This isn't the only example (some churches/cults, gun laws and gun users, etc) but it's the only one that I can 1) form a coherent argument about and 2) tall about without getting anxiety cause I'm in school wnd thinking about gun laws scares me to death.
Anyways thanks for coming to my Ted talk cya next time I need to rant about something!

Ehhhhhh...I think the choice to be horrible or not is on them. The system makes it easier for them to be horrible, to the point of teaching them that the wrong things they do are ok as long as they catch th "bad" people. It's true that power corrupts.

That kids with Autism, even profound, have feelings too. Just because they can't express them like other kids doesn't mean they aren't there. My inlaws FaceTime with the other grandkids, do things with them, older one stays the night. But my son, who is named after my father in law, gets no attention. And he is nonverbal and says 2 words, "mama" and "my papa" he doesn't even say daddy. And his grandparents could care less if he's sick, happy, sad, hurting,! It breaks my heart. My son got a new tablet. So I told everyone they could text him cute stickers or "easy text" his papa did for 3 days but because my son couldn't text back he stopped. Smh.....my heart breaks for my son.

Divorce rates. Lack of real life education that should be provided by parents and/or school. War in Ukraine and the instability of the world right now. That sort of thing. I'm often saddened by the lack of consideration that we humans have for each other these days. There seems to have been a falling off point where social niceties and respect for one another in general took a turn for the worse. There's many kind people on BP that are often gentle and caring with one another and that's fantastic. We all see many posts though that exhibit the kind of behavior that OP is talking about. We can only do our own parts though and hope that our example helps another. I could always be more positive, I'm sure. I try to do better, some days I'm pretty successful and other days when my pain levels are up, I later wonder if I shouldn't have gotten online at all, lol. Some days my brain doesn't work as well and I have some disconnects. I'm always happy to apologize to anyone though if I'm wrong about something or if someone is ever offended by something I post. And I ramble at times, sorry this is so long.

Stated perfectly. It's a shame that the very things we have to have to live a more normal life are the very things that will prevent us from having a normal life. I hate that there's such laws and what feels like being disparaged if you need certain medications. With proper documentation for the medication and a reasonable amount for your travels, it seems harsh for people who actually need them. However, I understand that there are many bad people who ruin this for everyone as in many other cases.

There are many people who just don't understand that the death of one's pet can be very upsetting. To me, a cat or a dog doesn't judge you, hurt your feelings, or play head games. It's all about unconditional love. How many people can you say that about?

I've heard more than once that if you want a new mate you have to either go out or go online. I completely reject this idea. If you try to force the process, sure you'll find a warm body to wrestle with. For me, each time I've been actually READY to connect with my new ideal partner, she pretty much falls in my lap. A girl on the train, somebody at work, whatever. I'll bump into a stranger on the sidewalk, her papers will go flying, and we're both on our knees picking up documents and apologizing. And it starts.

Mine is kinda personal but it's something I feel some of you guys might understand. So for background info, I dress like " a mom" according to a lot of people I know. There was this girl I really liked and I wanted to let her know that I liked women so I attempted to dress more "stereotypical lesbian" and so many people when they saw this started to say, " Oh, she's trying to fit in by saying she's gay now" and " Oh, look, she's making being gay her whole personality" and a lot of stuff like this. I'm personally abro, yes, but I've known I'm not straight since 3rd grade. Just because I try to show that I'm abro so that maybe I could get a chance with this girl doesn't mean I'm changing my whole personality or making it my entire personality.

If you think about it, most straight women do the same thing. They put on makeup and dress a little more sexy to attract the opposite sex. It's just more accepted so no one thinks twice. The only reason it feels different here is because there's the added stress of people being insensitive or immature about your being gay. They put you into a box that was easy to understand and now you aren't in the box anymore so they don't know how to react other than make fun or your being different. If you had started dressing sexier to impress a guy you liked at work, no one would blink an eye at it. Don't get me wrong, if you were super girly before and suddenly show up with a crew cut and work boots...okay I can see your real friends maybe being a little shocked and concerned your trying to be something you aren't for someone else. But if it's what you want to look like then your real friends will understand and love you for who you are.

It’s not always romantic love. I also see it within friend groups sometimes. It really sucks because then you feel like you can’t be close with someone, because of the rumors it might start. This happened with one of my friends, and i could tell it really affected their friendship with that person, thankfully they are still really good friends, but that could’ve ended their friendship. It honestly just angers and upsets me when people who really love each other, are forced to separate because people think their relationship is romantic, when it really isn’t.

Courtesy for other people. Listen, I mostly hate everyone. I have no love for people at large. But I do have common courtesy for me neighbors and the people directly around me.

For instance, I don't blast the music in my car and roll down the windows while sitting outside my apartment building because I have a brain and it tells me that, hey, maybe not everyone here wants to listen to my music for an hour. I also don't yell and scream and get into fights at 2 in the morning so that I wake up the entire neighborhood.

I also don't do things like listen to my cellphone on speaker in a public place. Or start fights on a flight that causes delays and makes someone miss their connecting flights, ruining the trips of 300 people.

I'm also not going to be rude to waitstaff. I'll just leave. Or I won't leave a tip. Or I'll talk to a manager if it's that bad. But I'm not going to cause a problem screaming at someone so that everyone else in the restaurant ends up with their nights ruined because of my behavior.

I'm living in a nightmare sandwich right now between 2 insane neighbors. One set fights to the point the cops are called constantly. They then will go and sit in their cars blasting music for an hour. The guy just randomly starts grunting like he's an animal. He will randomly start screaming for no reason. He's an alcoholic and can't even drive anymore. They scream and the WHOLE neighborhood has to know about it. He's been arrested at the apartment over 6 times. And the upstairs people think nothing of playing music at 2 in the morning and having sex so loud the whole building can hear them. Last night she was vacuuming at 1130pm.

There's just no sense of, hey other people exist in the world. We don't have to like each other but can we just not be jerks? Can we not have a party that all of the neighbors have to deal with for hours? Can you not wait to start mowing your lawn on a sunday morning until after 7am?

Sadly their situation with the alcoholic neighbor probably won't improve unless they get help for their alcoholism. When in an addiction spiral you just kinda take everyone around you with you. The courts could mandate help but unless they're ready to participate it won't be effective. But the other neighbor, they're just an âsshat. Fight fire with fire or take it to management.

The less you focus on yourself, the happier you will be, as will those around you. The more you focus on yourself, the less happy you will be, as will those around you. It's very simple but oh so difficult.

This can be looked at two different ways. On one hand it has been found that engineers and builders and mechanics, for example, are generally happier than people like artists - who spend all their time gazing at their own navel. On the other hand, real spiritual growth - that leads to greater overall happiness - comes from an inward search asking the harder questions.

Having a so-called "equal voice" online does not validate your nonsense. It just makes it very easy to make a complete a*s of yourself to millions of people with a single click of the mouse, not just to a couple classmates. If you can admit to yourself that there are many people smarter, wiser, more mature and more experienced than you are, you'll have a much better future than a lot of your peers. Listen twice as much as you speak.

Mormonism. Please. It's a religion, not a cult. Every religion has weird customs that can look very strange from the outside looking in. I've grown up LDS and the hate we get on the internet is demeaning and frustrating. Please keep in mind that many things said about us are either untrue, exaggerated, or twisted. I met a woman the other week that had just moved to Utah, and she was surprised to learn that my family and I were members of the Mormon church. She told me that this was because we seemed "So normal" You don't have to agree with anything but I am asking for a little respect because I am proud of my church and its teachings. That doesn't mean I'm proud of everyone in it and everything every member has ever done. I don't know much but I do know that god loves his children, that there will always be good in the world, and we are trying our best, just like everyone else. Thanks guys. I wish you the best.

I cannot speak for the quality of Mormonism as a whole (some of the teachings definitely bother me), but I have met some lovely Mormon people that I respected. We definitely shouldn't just write them all off as a "creepy cult."

Please don't take my glasses. Especially not as a joke. I don't care how funny it is to you, or how much you want to do it, they're my glasses. I need them to see properly.
If you ask and I say yes, that's the only time you're allowed to take them.

WTF?! What sort of a mindset do you have, that thinks stealing someone's glasses is a good thing to do? It's not a joke, it's bullying if it keeps on happening. Bored Panda, I despair of homo sapiens! Shoulda gone with the Neanderthals instead...

That if you really just don't want to do something, you can't force yourself to want it. I've always known from single digits I really wanted to be married and happy (second time the charm), and also knew from single digits I just didn't want kids. Trying to tell me what I want? Thanks for reinforcing my already existing beliefs about myself. I'm 54, was married twice for 25 years, no kids, no regrets. Trust me to know myself. Trust me to know what I do and do not want, even from childhood.

That the Post Office is where you Mail your items. We are not a "Wrap N Pack" store. We do SELL mailer envelopes, boxes and tape, but the clerks are not there to do it for you.

Also: The price of stamps only increase once a year, so please quit commenting how they just keep going up and up and up.

It’s ok for people to have different opinions and beliefs. Nobody has to be right or wrong, they can just be different. We need to have as much respect for the opinions of others as we want them to have for ours.

It is completely legal for police to lie to someone while questioning them. They can claim to have evidence linking you to a crime - DNA, photos, fingerprints - when none exists. This has led to many people confessing to crimes they did not commit - especially younger people who are more easily intimidated.

Lol more people have gone to jail because they take what they see in movies and tv to be true. Here's another one: The police do not have to tell you they are cops if you ask them. For the longest time there was this idea in media that if you ask someone if they are a cop, they are required to tell you the truth. if this was true, no undercover police officers that get out alive, lol. Another one is that you'll get off if the cop doesn't mirandize you. It just means your statement won't be admissible. All other evidence will be and they can get permission by you to use your statement after the fact. Also, a chalk outline isn't where a dead body was. They only use an outline if the person was actually alive. They are taken to the hospital which is why they put an outline down to give the police an understanding of where the victim was when they were found.

Just because some is “Normal” does NOT make it “Okay.” This could apply to many different things. (Social, mental, physical, etc..)
I have come across some people in school, who lets say, they say awful things about themselves. But then clam it’s “Normal” so “ItS OkAy”

(P.S, I would/do try my best to make sure they are ok, and to not be so harsh on themselves.)

If someone has anxiety, or if they are worried, saying:
“AlL YoU GOt TO do Is NoT WoRrY”
(LOOKING AT YOU OLD HEALTH TEACHER)

Don’t worry?! I’ve NEVER thought of that before! That is just a innovational idea! Who would of thought!

Sorry if this has been posted, I haven’t read the whole list yet.

Asking “do you believe in god?” is a micro aggression that presumes the asker’s default. Asking “do you believe in a god?” Is a small and meaningful distinction.

Refusing meat but accepting dairy and eggs still results in the same slaughterhouse. Dairy cows suffer immeasurably and have their babies taken away over and over again before slaughter. Baby chicks that turn out to be boys are ground up. They can’t lay eggs so are ground to bits. Strange right?
