The title is pretty self-explanatory, but let me describe it further. Quotes, pearls of wisdom, winged words, proverbs, sayings—all is fine as long as they inspire you or others.

I'm reminded of one of the old Marine Corps cadences my dad used to 'sing'. it was a cadence meant to provide instructions for jumping out an airplane. I only remember parts of it... so I apologize for that. "Stand up. hook up, shuffle to the door...." it continued, i remember, to something like 'If that chute don't open big an'round, I've got a second one...[or something].... and if that 'chute don't open big and round, you'll be the first to the ground!"

For you are Crunchy
And taste good with Ketchup - no clue the origin but this shall never die.
the last bit is apparently a quote from a book by Sherilyn Kenyon. (Dragonswan. looks interesting. might try it.) the quote is itself a reference to LOTR: the Fellowship of the Ring. either a spoof or a nod, or something. can't take credit, found on SE: https://literature.stackexchange.com/questions/2586/origins-of-quote-do-not-meddle-in-the-affairs-of-dragons-for-you-are-crunchy-a#2587

My favourite quote is by Jimmi Hendrix.
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."
"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." used to be what I've often reminded myself to do, until I now when I researched the phrase and learnt about what precedes this phrase. Now I am confused.
for others lost, apparently, the full section from Westward Ho, by Samuel Becket is “First the body. No. First the place. No. First both. Now either. Now the other. Sick of the either try the other. Sick of it back sick of the either. So on. Somehow on. Till sick of both. Throw up and go. Where neither. Till sick of there. Throw up and back. The body again. Where none. The place again. Where none. Try again. Fail again. Better again. Or better worse. Fail worse again. Still worse again. Till sick for good. Throw up for good. Go for good. Where neither for good. Good and all.”
"Do or do not. There is no try."-Yoda, 3 ABY, 1980
The Jedi philosophy is particularly detrimental to its members, though. It forces its members to ignore or repress their feeling, leaving them unable to deal with them. Even this one is just a way to force someone into being very confident or just giving up, leaving no room for anything else, which is a bad way to teach/learn.
everything will be okay in the end if its not okay, its not the end- John Lennon
My favourite is from Les Brown, who I got to meet in person in 2011. "If you do what's easy, your life will be hard. However, if you do what's hard, your life will be easy"

“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”- Albert Einstein. (yall can correct me if he never actually said this)
“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” No substantive evidence exists suggesting Einstein made this statement, though it has been attributed to him in at least one self-help book. In fact, the quote can be traced to a well-established allegory involving animals doing impossible things, used to illustrate the fallacy of judging someone by a skill or ability that person (or animal) does not possess.
Well no, but actually yes.

It's not about the progress you make outside in the world, but about the progress you make inside yourself.
No matter how hard you try, how many times you get back up, how many times you have done something that makes your soul soar.
There is always some bugger who will kick you in the balls.
(original quote from me)
"If your eyes could speak, what would they say?" -Markus Zusak (The Book Thief)
MINE IS SCIENTIFICALLY CORRECT (if you ignore the figure of speech)
Shoot for the stars, and if you miss then you will still be on the moon.
Growing old is mandatory...... Growing up is optional.
Bob Monkhouse.
Famous Misquotations: Growing Old is Mandatory; Growing Up is Optional” is one of those popular quotations you find all over the Internet, on mugs, posters, t-shirts, etc. It is attributed to either Walt Disney, or Charles Theodore “Chili” Davis, a Jamaican-American former baseball player. It certainly makes sense that the quote is attributed to Walt Disney whose work and theme parks are focused on capturing (or recapturing) a child’s sense of wonder and delight. It certainly sounds like something he would say; however, there is no evidence that proves that Disney ever wrote or said this. On the other hand, there are numerous collections of quotations posted within the last decade that cite Chili Davis as the source of this famous quotation; however, once again, there is no article or interview where this phrase appears. Lacking any definitive, verifiable written source, one can only conclude that this is an apocryphal quotation, most likely written by some anonymous individual.
The same Fire that melts Butter, makes Steel..
“To reject conformity in favour of asserting one’s individual nature is the work of a lifetime”
When I was at school our Civics teacher asked us to come up with a quote. This was mine.
Never bring anyone any pain or sorrows
In what you do and in what you say

Will not buy you back one yesterday.

“It wasn't only wickedness and scheming that made people unhappy, it was confusion and misunderstanding; above all, it was the failure to grasp the simple truth that other people are as real as you.“ -Ian McEwan
Not a happy quote but it’s from my favorite novel “Atonement” and sure got me thinking.
“Our life is a constant journey, from birth to death. The landscape changes, the people change, our needs change, but the train keeps moving. Life is the train, not the station.”
― Paulo Coelho
“I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.” Mewtwo
Dunno if somebody else said it first, but I heard it on Babylon 5. One of the more memorable lines from Marcus, the exact line goes "I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, 'wouldn't it be much worse if life *were* fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them?' So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
"There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." Leonard Cohen
Be the change you want to see.
Here is the quote from Gandhi that is is attributed to. I think it is very powerful... “We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi
I have two.
From Buddhism : your work, is to discover your work, and then, with all your heart, to give yourself to it.
This one is anonymous. I read it about 50 years ago.
A man who works with his hands is a laborer.
A man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman.
But a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.

“Let everything happen to you
Beauty and terror
Just keep going
No feeling is final.” - Rilke
I only learnt of this quote since I watched Jojo Rabbit at the beginning of the year, (it appears on screen at the very end of the film.) I feel it was weirdly apt since a few weeks after I watched it we were suddenly in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Got me through some tough times as a healthcare worker the last 6 months or so too.

Okay so I have a tie between “You know what? I'm an artist. I'm an artist and I'm gonna make art, arty art art!” (Andy Biersack) or "Never chase love, affection, or attention. If it isn't given freely by another person, it isn't worth having." (Ashley Purdy)
“Life must be lived as play, playing certain games, making sacrifices, singing and dancing, and then a man will be able to propitiate the gods, and defend himself against his enemies, and win in the contest.”
Plato
Things that don't kill you can make you stronger.
Basically if you can learn and grow from a shitty event then thats a positive
And the corollary to that is: And the things that kill you make you dead.
The main two I live by:

1.) Take people as they are, there are no other.
2.) You won't get away with any good deed.
3.) You are not kindred scot-free.
I hope there will be someone to translate them better.

No quote "inspires" me. Nothing wrong with inspirational quotes. It's ust my personality. The best quotes to me are the ones that make me understand something I didn't used to understand - to learn something new about the world.
I missed the submission, but got inspired by one quote to make my own, so here it is. 😊 “Life is a piece of rope. It is firm, tight and grips you. Life will pull you to death. Before that happens, untangle the rope, and do the changes we want. Of course, life will always come get you back, but make it worthy before it does.”- Rainbow
