Hey Pandas, What’s A Quote Or Sentence That Left A Big Impact On Your Way Of Thinking? (Closed)
Actions usually speak louder than words, but sometimes words are actually just as loud. So, Pandas, tell a story about a quote or sentence you heard or read somewhere that left a big impact on your mind. Could be something you heard in person, something you read in a book or an article, something a celebrity or public figure has said, something some random person on the internet said, anything.

In the book, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," a book by Lewis Carroll, Alice says, "It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then." This is a great reminder that you have to move on and not dwell on things that happened in the past.
Doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity
- Albert Einstein
I remember I came across this video on YouTube, of this man who brings up celebrity scandals. He was talking about the actor Mark Walburg (I think is his name?) Who committed a bunch of racist hate crimes. One of the hate crimes he committed, when he beat up an asian man leaving him blind. The guy says
"years later Mark has apologized for his past and says he's became a better person, but apologies can't bring back a man's eyesight"
That was very powerful statement to me. I only support forgiving people who made natural mistakes, but if you made a mistake that hurt somebody you cannot be forgiven. It's a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people but it's true.
It certainly can be forgiven. I believe that God, the Lord, our father forgives every sin, no matter how great. However, forgiveness in not about "oh whatever, it's fine, i forgive you..." type of thing. It is important to be forgiving and give people room for change, but the accusers are nonetheless responsible for their past mistakes.
A friend's yoga teacher once told him this: you don't have to do the pose perfectly to get 100% of the benefit.
He mentioned it to me, and I've tried to implement that thinking every time I use a coping skill for my mental health.
When I read the book "The Kite Runner" back in 2008. A quote really hit me hard:
"there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. When you kill a man, you steal a life... you steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a ather. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness... there is no act more wretched than stealing."
(author) Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner
Yesss. I love that book so much. It left me reeling. Everything about it, the story, the way it was written. So beautiful.❤️
Can't remember from where it comes from, but "you need to understand a rule in order to break it"
"Don't be embarrassed of your scars they just mean that you were stronger than the thing that was trying to hurt you."
Don't really remember, where it is from.
Pippi Langstrømpe (Longstocking), one of Astrid Lindgrens caracters, said: I've never tried that before, so I will properbly be good at it.
Pippi is one hell of a character. Even though it's basically children's stuff I love it
Along the lines of ~ it is better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
The reason most people fail to succeed is because they trade what they want most for what they want at the moment.
People don't and can't give you an impossible task. If they tell you to do it, it means somebody's already done it. Also, if you have a great idea that someone tells you it's already invented, it's actually a great idea.
I once heard a comedian say Albert Einstein was once divorced so if your marriage isn’t working it’s ok because not even Einstein could figure that one out
I can't post the wile thing here, but IF by Rudyard Kipling and The Egg by Andy Weir changed my perspective alot

When ever things get hard I think of this saying...
Don't be afraid to say what you believe to be true, and live with the consequences.

"I don't have much, but what I have is gold."
From R.E.M.'s last album. That line just really hit me. I have a wonderful wife, my sweet cat and dog, a small but cozy place to live, and enough money to pay our bills (most of the time). There's still a lot about my life that is very stressful and difficult, but yeah, what I have is gold.
I don't remember who said this but...
"I don't lie because you only lie when you are afraid"
I thought about and now my goal in life is to not fear and not lie
What the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve. Napoleon Hill from his book " Think and grow rich"
"They ask me, What's better than romance? I tell them, World domination." I found that quote when I was learning about Aromantics. Another one is "I am not confused, Not just focused on other things right now. Not unfeeling, not unemotional, not immune to everything you say to me. I am Aromantic and I am valid. " That's when I realized. Wait, That's me! That was a huge weight lifted off my back. I knew who I was and I knew my sexuality was valid. No more friends asking if I was Pan, or straight, or lesbian. And I felt good. Nothing better than discovering yourself.
