Once I was cooking a Mexican dish for my family and the recipe called for bell peppers. I just grabbed the first pepper I saw and put it in the dish and just assumed it would be fine. I found out later that it was a ghost pepper.

Long story short, I'm not allowed to cook anymore.

When I was younger, my sister and I decided to make a cupcake when our parents were grocery shopping. Everything went fine until the frosting when I decided to put in some really old marshmallow fluff. The stuff was absolutely revolting. We didn't want to throw it away and risk getting in trouble, so we buried it in the back yard where the pets wouldn't get it.

I've been working from home since the beginning of the pandemic, running virtual board meetings all along. Very important meetings with very important people. My 77 year old mom, who lives with me, decided she was going to cook during one such meeting (with a large number of VIPs). My home office is right next to the kitchen, so I closed my door. Except she burned something and the fire alarm went off. There are sensors in every room, so if one goes off in one part of the house, they rest go off as well. Even though I wasn't speaking during the meeting and my audio was muted, the loud noise from the alarms somehow was picked up and it caused chaos as people were trying to figure out what was going on and who was causing the shrieking noise. Meanwhile I'm fanning the fire alarm to get it to turn off (it's too high for me to push the off button, plus not sure that would have worked). I had my mom open the doors and windows, not realizing the security alarm was on, so as soon as she opened a window, those sensors went off all over the house as well. It took a few minutes of me frantically fanning and disarming the security alarm, then answering the call from the security company assuring them all was (relatively) okay and not to send the fire department and police. Quite the circus and I'm sure some of the VIPs probably lost a little bit of their hearing! To this day, I haven't owned up to the fact that it was me who caused the ruckus and I never will hahaha
