I forget what the pigeon is called, but their was a pigeon who lost its leg and part of its wing in the war, and still managed to deliver its message. After that it lived a long life of delivering messages with some more, but minor injuries. After the war it got a Medal of Honor.
Ok so I have a fact about Peggy Schuyler (you know the one: she who speaks the iconic words: "aNd PeGgY"). When British raiders broke into their house to kidnap her father, she went downstairs despite them being armed to save her baby sister. Peggy totally kept her cool when they questioned her, and she pretended she was a maid. There's also still a dent on the banister of the Schuyler mansion from when the raiders threw a tomahawk at Peggy's head (she dodged it and took her sister to safety).
