When I accidently commented on the wrong post. I deleted my answer because it did not make sense.
Fellow Pandas kept upvoting me, assuming it was a joke!

In second grade, we were allowed to bring in our favorite stuffed animal for one day at the end of the school year. I brought in a giant stuffed ape and everyone LOVED it. I was popular for exactly one day and then the school year was over ;)

(By the way, there is a poem by Shel Silverstein called "Gorilla" where a kid brings his pet gorilla into school and becomes very popular. I felt like I'd brought the poem to life!)

I commented on a YouTube shorts about how "the gays and guys are all just staring at the corset-" (hear me out the dress was pretty and I was trying decide if it was the gay or the girl in me staring) and it got around 5 thousand likes and a bunch of replies. My most popular contribution to the internet so far.

I feel like I’m popular on here. In both a positive and negative way. I feel like my opinion can be heard sort of and I have online “friends” on here. It’s a good community. I am not popular really irl in any way shape or form really. I’m known for my art, kind of but not much else. I can post some of my art on here if u guys want. I don’t post that much “personal” stuff on here but I can maybe if u guys wanna kno more about me idk.

I discovered that humility and listening to people instead of being an arrogant smartass works wonders. I ended up representing a local political party at a rally and getting to give a speech to supporters. Normally I'd not have been allowed through the door due to racism.

I'm not popular, per se, but everyone knows me. I talk to many people, and it got out that I was gay, so people are homophobic, and ask me stupid questions. And it gets embarrassing, so I have a small group of friends, and now there is drama with them, and I end up fixing it, so I'm 'popular" again.

I was in Tech Theater in high school, AND band (well, colorguard) because I had an aunt who gave me that very same advice! I enjoyed all I learned in both, but as it turned out, the people--students AND teachers were a bunch of...well, words I'm not going to use. The descriptive words are about as unkind and actually over critical as they were, BUT. I had fun, that's what counted for me. And when it came down to "productions" in the auditorium, I got to usher in some people to their seats, which earned me some extra earnings from tips lol.

Way back when I was in P1, I was the popular kid. Everyone wanted to be my partner. This one girl would always sit next to me at lunch. Idk what they saw in me. Then the bullies “adopted” me and then i was no longer popular and have been bullied my whole life since then. I don’t miss being popular but I think this is worse. Btw I’m fine, I’m switching schools like my best friend did to avoid bullying

i was named employee of the year which surprised me as i was just doing my job. a year later i became the office pariah because i called out the corrupt dealing of my superiors. the negative treatment towards me didn't really affect me because i was comfortable for calling out their behavior and tactics. it also really ticked off my superiors because the district attorney treated me with respect and called on my opinions over the next several years on issues regarding how the department could be improved. (i was an officer of the court for the district attorney.) so, yes - i was popular for a positive reason but it think it was my willingness to call out the bad behavior that made me "popular"...maybe not with the bosses but definitely with the office worker bees

Well. This is also going to be kind of sad and depressing but...

When I was in grade sixth, I studied in a school where one teacher (of physical education) punished whole class to stand in the ground on one leg, in the summer afternoon. Temperature was nearly thirty five degree Celsius at that time. And then he began to slap each boy standing there. Till now, he hadn't noticed that i was not standing on one leg. I was scared but i stood up and when he raised his hand to slap me. I grabbed his hand, pushed him and ran to principal office. From there, my classteacher noticed me crying and took me to the principal. I called my parents and went home that day early. My father, as I was told by my mother kept arguing with the school manager for an hour and threatened to call police at that time.

The next day that teacher was suspended and every student in my class praised me for being the only one to stand. That incident of nearly eight years ago is still forged in my memory and my old friends still talk about that day whenever we meet.
Note: In my country (in South Asia), there were no such laws against punishment at that time. Now, laws exist against it.

In third grade, I basically started a cult, where I was the supreme leader, Queen Bunbun. Half of my whole grade knew me, and would listen to me and ask to join the 'Bunbun colony'. The other half of the grade was made up of the boys that either liked racing me and teasing around, or had a bit of a crush on me. Even the teachers knew me! It was pretty hilarious, looking back, but I'm a bit more withdrawn now. :)

My 60th birthday. I had a day with my parents, a party at my house, a dinner out with work friends, afternoon tea with people I worked with previously, a trip to Avignon with a friend. I've probably forgotten something. People just couldn't seem to do enough, I actually cried when my colleagues sponsored a flamingo for me. I had no idea people liked me that much

I had the most adorable calico long-haired barn cat. Every spring she would have a litter of kittens and they were the most spoiled things ever.🤣 I would bring them to church and pass them around. It was the best because I was a shy kid so the kittens got all the attention but I owned them so I was cool too. They usually all got homes by the end of the summer.

I'm not very popular but my friend told me that when she first met me she thought I was. I wasn't.

A more "popular" moment was when my class went on a field trip to the Spy Museum. I held onto this bar thing for the maximum amount of time and everyone was congratulating me. It wasn't super impressive but ya know. A tiny moment of fame. :)

In my 2nd year at university I agreed to pose nude for a photoshoot for a close friend who was in his 3rd year of a BA in Photography. The photo's were really good and were very well received and I enjoyed doing it immensely. While the shoot was very explicit, nothing was hidden, it certainly wasn't pornographic or vulgar. When the photoshoot was displayed in the University's art gallery I became rather popular as although mine wasn't the only nude shoot that had ever been submitted, I was the first current student that modelled and the only male model. While not many students usually take an interest in the art gallery, once it became known that there were naked photos of an actual student on display everyone had to have a look of course. It did feel a little odd at first knowing that at least half of the students and staff had seen pretty much every inch of me naked but reactions to it were generally positive and I certainly became well known on campus. And don't worry, I was 19 when I did the shoot so all perfectly legal and above board.

I did the same thing - posed nude from the waist up, for a senior's final art show. It got more attention than I thought it would and one guy even purchased a print to put on his band's cd cover (with my permission). So, somewhere, out there, 20 year old me is gracing a cd case.

When i was younger, i moved states. In my old school, backpack chains (little stuffed animals, random trinkets, etc.).
When i moved schools, nobody had any chains besides me. you could hear me walk through the whole school. After a while, almost everyone in my grade and the grade below me had tons of backpack chains. I guess I started a trend there.
Then it ended up that backpack chains were banned the year after I left the school, because too many people were playing with them during class.

This is a bit of a back handed popular moment for me.

In year 10 (Junior year for US Panda’s) there was an election for the student council. Every year had to vote two people onto the general school council. The nominations were anonymous and the voting system was 2 points for your first pick, 1 point for your second.

Now, High School and I weren’t the best of friends… I was the typical outcast, weird, geeky, overweight, butt of many jokes…

So imagine my surprise when I was called up by my year counsellor for a meeting. He had the biggest grin on his face.

I knew I had been “Nominated” and I just ignored it because someone was having a joke… well it turned out the joke was on them.

Of the 113 kids in my year, I got 96 votes… the next highest number was one of the PK’s (popular kids) with 55…

You see… in their rush to have a laugh at my expense, most of the kids did the same thing… gave 2 points to their friends (you vote for me I’ll vote for you) and decided wouldn’t it be a laugh to give Ozzyols their single point! None of them realised that pretty much every other kid in the year had thought of the same “joke”

My year teacher thought this was the best thing he’d ever seen and coached me how to get the absolute best out of my position that year, as the primary vote winner, I had the right for my year Veto on the student council… and I was always chosen to represent my year at events…

I got death glares from the PK’s and other clicks for the rest of the year, but damn did I feel good!
