I was skateboarding down an hill underneath a freeway underpass. I was going really fast straight down the sidewalk and the hill was really steep and long. I'd say a 40 degree steepness for around 200 feet. The sidewalk had rocks on the edge so it was just stay on the board and go straight. It was so fast I sailed up to the top of the other side. I did it twice and just felt total adrenaline rush but you can't move on the board, just gotta ride it out. It was really exciting.

There was a valley with really steep (almost vertical) hills on either side. They banked out sharply and left a flat valley floor about 30-40 metres across. It was like a giant natural halfpipe. Most kids in the area would see how far they could ride their bikes up it before coming back down. A few us 'better bikers' would drag our bikes to the top and ride down the hills.
A kid I didn't like was getting too mouthy for my liking so I challenged him to a game of 'Chicken', him at the top of one hill, me at the top of the other.
I was almost sweating after I dragged my Mongoose bike to the top of the hill. After a quick breather, I waved to the people in the valley to let them know I was ready. Across the valley I could see the boy do the same. I waited for the signal to start from below. Then I pushed off.
The excitement I felt as I was plummeting down that near cliff face, focusing directly on the small dot that was my target. With the wind rushing in my ears and the whole mike shaking from the rough terrain, I realised that the excitement didn't come from the descent, but came from knowing that I fully intended to hit him.
I knew he would pull out! So, I tried to position myself slightly to the left of him, forcing him to pull away to my right, where he couldn't escape me.
As we got closer my heart was thumping so hard it was all I could hear...
In the next moment, everything was quiet! The only sound was my own ragged breathing in my head and a slight, high pitched humming noise. I could feel the cool ground underneath me and I could see the clouds in front of me. I knew I'd hit him, and I knew I must have lost consciousness but I couldn't help but laugh. I sat up and wiped the wet from my ear and lip, I'd sort out my injuries later, because at that moment I needed to look around!
I could see some friends running towards me, but I wasn't interested in them, I was looking for HIM.
I moved my head around, ignoring the pain in my skull. Finally, about 3 metres away, over my right shoulder, I saw him. A crumple of body and broken BMX!
And my heart started thumping again. I stared at him for what few like hours but must have only been minutes. I was trembling like a penny on a train track, from the adrenaline! The most excited I had ever felt so far, waiting to see if he would move...
